Port Lincoln garbage bin victim Spencer Benbolt remembered as a ‘bright, funny kid’ | 7NEWS.com.au

January 19, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

The South Australian boy who died after being crushed to death while sleeping in a garbage bin has been identified as Spencer Benbolt.

Spencer, 13, was asleep in an industrial bin outside the Port Lincoln McDonalds with two of his friends, aged 11 and 12, when the bin was routinely emptied into a garbage truck around 5.20am on Tuesday.

See emotional tributes for Spencer in the video player above

Police say the 12-year-old boy was able to scramble out of the bin and tried to alert the truck driver about his friends by “banging” on the window.

But it was too late – Spencer and the other boy had already been dumped into the truck.

While the younger boy was unharmed, Spencer suffered fatal injuries.

He died at the scene.

Family and friends of Spencer are devastated.

They said the three boys were inseparable, often running away from home together.

Holly Puckridge, a friend of the boy, told 7NEWS that Spencer “was a bright kid and he did everything funny”.

“He asked to stay with us for a couple days and we let him have a sleep over,” she added.

A mother of one of Spencer’s friends said her child could have been in the bin if things had gone differently.

Jess Bettoncelli said her 12-year-old son often took off with the group, sleeping outside service stations and local sporting grounds with the others.

“He’s very shaken up, he’s I think confused,” she said.

“He’s I guess wondering and suspecting that that could have been him last night.”

Despite Spencer often running away from home and spending rough nights out, police emphasised that he was not homeless.

Superintendent Paul Bahr said in a press conference “I don’t think it would be fair to classify them as homeless”.

He said police had spoken with the “traumatised” surviving pair but had not been able to establish why they were sleeping in the bin.

“It’s tragic across a whole number of levels,” Bahr added.

“And that’s just one of the levels of tragedy to this, is why these three children thought they needed to be sleeping in the bin.

“That’s one of the avenues of inquiries we’ll be taking during the coronial investigation.”

7NEWS has been told a good Samaritan bought the boys thirty dollars worth of food hours before the horrific accident.

The truck driver was taken to hospital suffering from shock.

“Crazy” Dog No One Wanted Finds Family Who Can’t Get Enough Of Him

January 18, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Life on the streets can be hard for a dog, but so can life in a shelter. Many dogs aren’t cut out for life in a cement cage, with little socialization or exercise. When dogs don’t adjust well to life in a shelter, it can be even harder for them to find adoptive homes because they may exhibit poor behaviors.

That was the case for a stray bully named Tuggy. The poor pup had been picked up by police and had so much energy, he couldn’t contain himself in a kennel.

When Tuggy was found, he had red, prolapsed glands in both of his eyes. His eyes, paired with his inability to sit still, made people think he was crazy. No one wanted to adopt him, and he desperately needed to be out of the kennel.

While that could’ve been the end of the road for Tuggy, since many bull breeds who aren’t adopted end up euthanized, Tuggy was given a second chance when a woman named Melissa hesitantly agreed to foster him.

Speaking with The Dodo, Melissa explained that a friend begged her to foster Tuggy, even if just for a weekend. She finally agreed and went to meet the “crazy” dog that no one wanted.

Melissa’s first impression of Tuggy was that he was “ridiculous,” as he bounced around with his pudgy face and bright red eyes. He had so much energy to get out but also enjoyed flopping down and taking a snooze.

Tuggy quickly made himself at home in Melissa’s house and even got along with her other dogs and husband. It wasn’t long before Melissa realized that she wouldn’t be able to let him go. No one else may have wanted him, but he was the perfect dog for her and her family.

Former Victoria’s Secret Model Bridget Malcolm Slams the Company’s Woke Re-Branding as a ‘Joke’

January 18, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Former Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm is no fan of the lingerie company’s woke re-branding, calling the initiative a “joke.”

In a recent TikTok video, Bridget Malcolm blasted Victoria’s Secret’s attempt at an image overhaul, which includes cancelling its “Angels” supermodels and bringing aboard transgender and plus-sized models. The company has also hired feminist soccer star Megan Rapinoe as a spokeswoman.

“Your performative allyship is a joke,” Malcolm said in the video, using the marketing lingo that refers to corporate virtue signaling.  The caption of the video reads “too little too late Victoria’s Secret.”

The Australian model claimed in the video that the company pressured her to stay underweight, saying that her former bra size that she wore during a Victoria’s Secret fashion show in 2016 no longer fits her. She also alleged she was rejected from the show in 2017 for not looking “good enough.”

“I was rejected from the show in 2017 by Ed Razek,” she said, referring to a former top executive at L Brands, the parent company of Victoria’s Secret. Razek was the subject of repeated complaints about inappropriate conduct toward models.

“He said ‘my body did not look good enough.’ I wore a size 30B at that point.”

Victoria’s Secret has been gradually embracing a more woke public image in recent years. The company hired its first transgender model — Brazil’s Valentina Sampaio — in 2019.

Last year, Victoria’s Secret announced it would permanently close around 250 stores in the U.S. and Canada.

Euro 2020: Pundits laugh at Ciro Immobile for suddenly recovering from injury as soon as Italy score | Daily Mail Online

January 18, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

BBC pundits mocked Ciro Immobile after he made a miraculous recovery as soon as Italy opened the scoring in their 2-1 Euro quarter-final victory over Belgium.

The Lazio striker went to ground in the box after a slight coming together with Jan Vertonghen 31 minutes into the match.

Immobile began to writhe around the ground in pain in an apparent attempt to try and win a penalty for his side, who were still on the attack in Munich.

Immobile instantly got up though when Nicolo Barella opened the scoring for Italy

As Immobile was rolling around on the ground, Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella got onto the ball and created some space before putting his side ahead with a great strike past Thibaut Courtois.

Barella’s effort sparked jubilant Italian celebrations – something that Immobile was very keen to be part of.

The lethal striker leapt to his feet and looked around as he jogged over to join his team-mates in the celebrations.

But after the game, BBC presenter Gary Lineker mocked the 31-year-old striker.

Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Jurgen Klinsmann all laughed at Immobile’s recovery

Alan Shearer was less then impressed, saying he thought it was ‘pathetic’ and ’embarrassing’

He said: ‘He goes down and desperately tries to get a penalty “ooh I’m in agony, I’m in agony, I’m in agony” and then the ball goes in and “I’m alright”. It’s amazing what a recovery.’

BBC pundits Jurgen Klinsmann and Micah Richards laughed as they watched the footage back though Alan Shearer wasn’t so amused.

He said: ‘I don’t even want to laugh at that, that’s pathetic you can see him have a look at the referee before he goes down.’

Lineker responded: ‘It’s pathetically amusing,’ before Shearer again added ‘it’s pathetic, it’s embarrassing.’

Immobile quickly got back up to his feet before joining his team-mates for the celebration

Richard continued to make light of the situation, responding to Shearer: ‘I’ve seen you do that before.’

The former Newcastle and England striker amused by Richards’ quip, replied: ‘Never’.

Italy doubled their lead later in the first-half through Lorenzo Insigne before Romelu Lukaku scored a penalty before half-time.

Roberto Mancini’s side held on for the victory and they will face Spain in the semi-finals of Euro 2020.

‘Don’t joke with that one’ – Pogba defends Ibrahimovic against racism allegations | Goal.com

January 17, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Paul Pogba has defended his former team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic against accusations of racism following the Swedish forward’s clash with Romelu Lukaku on Tuesday.

Ibrahimovic and Lukaku were involved in a heated confrontation on the pitch during AC Milan‘s Coppa Italia quarter-final against their city rivals, which Inter eventually won 2-1.

The Swede scored the opener in the match before he was sent off in the second half for a second yellow card. Lukaku netted the equaliser for Inter and the match was capped off by a dramatic stoppage-time winner from Christian Eriksen.

However the main talking point after the match was the clash between the two former Manchester United forwards, which resulted in both players being shown a yellow card by referee Paolo Valeri.

Ibrahimovic can reportedly be heard saying: “Go do your voodoo sh*t, you little donkey. Go do your voodoo sh*t. Call your mother!” Lukaku can then be heard responding: “Well, let’s go inside you b*tch. We will see.”

According to Football Italia, Ibra’s “voodoo” comments were related to a suggestion made in the past by Everton owner Farhad Moshiri.

In 2018, representatives for Lukaku denied that the player’s decision to reject a new contract with Everton had anything to do with “voodoo,” following a suggestion by Mr Moshiri at an Everton AGM.

The Swede’s words have been called racist by some, prompting him to deny the claims with a post on social media.

“In Zlatan’s world there is no place for racism! We are all the same race – we are all equal! We are players. Some better than others,” the Swede posted.

Pogba has also leapt to his former team-mate’s defence with a post of his own on Twitter.

“Zlatan… racist? He loves me too much so he’s the last person I’d think of as racist! Come on, don’t joke with that one!” the France star said.

Following Tuesday’s match, AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli said Ibrahimovic “apologised to the dressing room” for the clash with Lukaku and the sending off.

Inter’s victory saw them progress to the semi-finals of the Italian domestic cup competition, where they will face either Juventus or SPAL.
