Bill Burr Slams Cancel Culture, Collective Faux Outrage: ‘Not Apologizing’ ‘To F***ing People’ Who Didn’t Hear The Joke

January 25, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Comedian, actor, and podcast host Bill Burr slammed Cancel Culture this week, criticizing the collective faux outrage from people he says don’t go to his shows and likely don’t understand his comedy.

“I’m not saying that I ever haven’t made mistakes,” Burr admitted, according to the Washington Examiner. “There’s [sic] times I’ve, you know, pissed somebody off or made somebody cry, and if they come up and they have a legitimate thing, then I’ll apologize to them.”

“But I’m not apologizing to a bunch of f***ing people because I told a joke that they weren’t at,” he explained. “I told a joke at a show you weren’t at. Like, all right, so, like, how is that my fault?”

During the same appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Burr added that, in his estimation, 85% of the country is reasonable, and its extremists on both sides make the most noise.

“These people that are on the extreme Right and Left, I think, only represent about 15% of the population,” Burr said. “I just feel like 85% of the country on the Right and the Left is kind of sitting there, like, when are Dad and Mom going to stop screaming at each other?”

This summer, the “Mandalorian” actor bucked the liberal narrative on his podcast, ripping into “treasonous un-American” CNN for the network’s Trump-obsession and its refusal to criticize “bore” President Joe Biden because he’s a Democrat.

“I swear to God, I cannot believe people watch that channel. They’re so dumb,” Burr said at the time, according to Fox News. “They’re f***ing treasonous un-American pieces of s***.”

Burr noted that his mother-in-law turns on CNN when she comes over to watch his children.

“She always puts on CNN,” he explained. “And do you know what those f***ing morons are doing? Do you know what those f***ing morons are doing?! They’re f***ing talking about Trump.”

“It’s like, do you think these people give a f*** who’s president? They want Darth Vader to come back. They want him (Trump) to come back. Because they had nothing to talk about, because it’s show business, and Joe Biden is a f***ing bore.”

The comedian then smacked the network for their partisan bias: “They can’t b**** about [Biden] because he’s wearing a blue tie,” he said, referring to POTUS being a Democrat.

“So now what do they do? They’re going out there, they’re doing what they did the first time to get this guy [Trump] elected, by giving him all this free coverage, while they act like they allegedly don’t like him,” Burr added.

“I don’t buy it. I don’t buy it. They are a corporate news channel.”

Back in March, Burr rattled progressives when he cracked anti-PC jokes as he presented an award at the 2021 Grammys, The Daily Wire reported:

When he presented the best regional Mexican music award, he stumbled over the pronunciation of winner Natalia Lafourcade’s last name. “I can’t say the name,” he said. “The Grammy goes to Natalia Lafourcade. I will accept on behalf of her. If I butchered her name, I’m sorry.”

“Natalie, you won,” Burr added.

“[How many] feminists are like, going nuts,” Burr later mocked, presenting best tropical Latin album. “Why is this cis-white male doing all this Latino stuff.”

“These people that are on the extreme right & left only represent about 15% of the population.. the other 85% are just wondering when mom & dad are gonna stop arguing with each other” ~@billburr#PatMcAfeeShowLIVE pic.twitter.com/cGBT1JJlun

Rudy Giuliani Warns Dominion Against Lawsuit: ‘I’m a Crazy Guy, I Really Am, Just Really Crazy’

January 25, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Rudy Giuliani, attorney for former President Donald Trump, responded Monday to a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit filed against him by Dominion Voting Systems.

Giuliani had publicly supported Trump’s baseless claims that widespread voter fraud had been a factor in President Joe Biden‘s victory. Among the conspiracy theories peddled by Giuliani was an allegation that tabulation machines manufactured by Dominion Voting Systems had been programmed to flip votes from Trump to Biden. Many of the lawsuits filed by Giuliani and other members of Trump’s legal team, attempting to overturn the results of the election, failed. In its Monday filing, Dominion said that Giuliani’s allegations had damaged the company’s reputation.

During Monday’s edition of Giuliani’s Chat with the Mayor program on WABC, Giuliani scoffed at the billion-dollar lawsuit.

“What do you think I am, some kind of jackass?” Giuliani asked. “That’s intended to frighten me, you want to frighten me. You want to scare me, like you have some of these companies and stations that have gone ahead and kissed your you-know-what. Because they’re afraid of you.”

“Well, I tell you I’m a crazy guy, I really am, I’m just really crazy,” Giuliani continued. “So not only haven’t you scared me, you’ve actually given me something that I couldn’t get through the censorship that’s been set up so nobody can see your machines.”

Giuliani asserted that the lawsuit would allow his “independent experts” to examine the voting machines and delve deeply into Dominion’s investors and business connections.

“You got the wrong guy here,” Giuliani said. “I think a couple of the others you sued are the wrong people too. I just don’t think they’re able to be frightened.”

Newsweek reached out to Dominion Voting Systems for comment.

rudy giuliani responds to dominion lawsuit

In a Monday statement, Dominion CEO John Paulos said Giuliani’s continued allegations that Dominion was implicit in voter fraud had “undermined trust in American democratic institutions.” Paulos added that Giuliani “continues to make demonstrable false claims, and we intend to hold him, and others who spread disinformation, to account.”

Dominion also filed a $1.3 billion lawsuit against attorney Sidney Powell in January. Powell, who worked alongside Trump’s legal team, alleged that Dominion got its start in Venezuela and that its voting machines were used in that country to ensure the election of late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez. Dominion has denied the allegations.

“Dominion has never participated in any elections in Venezuela and has no connection or relationship with the now-deceased former Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez,” Dominion said in a November statement. “Other companies have serviced elections in Venezuela, but Dominion is not one of them.”

Giuliani furthered the theory of rigged voting machines during remarks at a Stop the Steal rally in Washington, D.C. in January, telling those in attendance that he had not been allowed to examine “one machine or one paper ballot.” In his rally comments, Giuliani equated the lack of access to machines to criminal behavior.

“Who hides evidence?” Giuliani said. “Criminals hide evidence. Not honest people.”

After the rally, at which Trump also insinuated widespread voter fraud, a number of Trump supporters walked to the U.S. Capitol and interrupted the Congressional confirmation of Biden’s election victory. Members of the mob, some of whom were armed, were able to enter the Capitol building. Some lawmakers were forced to shelter in place until the incursion could be quelled. Five fatalities were reported in connection with the riot.

A prankster has been filmed climbing into the back of a speed camera – before flashing passers-by with his phone.

The stunt was filmed in the early hours of Thursday morning (August 19) in Towyn outside the Lyons Winkups Holiday Park, North Wales Live reports.

John Westlake spotted the speed camera while waiting for a takeaway pizza.

The 38-year-old says he thought it would be ‘a funny way of killing some time’ while he and his wife Sarah-Jane waited for their grub.

The video, which has been widely shared and viewed more than 17,000 times on Facebook, shows him flashing passing vehicles with his mobile phone while sat inside the camera’s casing.

Cars can be seen slowing down after being flashed, much to the couple’s amusement.

Joiner John said: “We were waiting outside for our pizzas when I noticed a hole in the back of the speed camera.

“At that point I thought it would be a funny way of killing some time to climb up and flash the passing cars to see if they’d slow down.”

John and Sarah-Jane, from Wirral, were holidaying at the caravan park with their two youngest children and John’s mother.

Once inside the speed camera, John says he began to flash ‘everyone who was going past, not just people in the cars’.

“I flashed one person who went by in a mobility scooter and told them to slow down,” he said.

“I just took a run-up and managed to climb in. I was quite surprised the next day, when I saw the speed camera, that I had managed it to be honest.

The couple say they have received many messages and friend requests since posting the video, which is threatening to go viral.

“We were just having a laugh really,” John added.

“Every car I flashed slowed down afterwards – it kept us entertained when we were waiting for our food.

“I think people relate to it because no one likes speed cameras.”

Animals Laugh Too: UCLA Study Finds Laughter in 65 Species, from Rats to Cows

January 24, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Every pet owner knows that animals love to play, but laughter seems reserved for humans, a few apes, and maybe a few birds good at mimicking humans and apes. As it turns out, according to a new article published in the journal Bioacoustics, laughter has been “documented in at least 65 species,” Jessica Wolf writes at UCLA Newsroom. “That list includes a variety of primates, domestic cows and dogs, foxes, seals, and mongooses, as well as three bird species, including parakeets and Australian magpies.” This is a far cry from just a few years ago when apes and rats were the “only known animals to get the giggles,” as Liz Langley wrote at National Geographic in 2015.

Yes, rats laugh. How do scientists know this? They tickle them, of course, as you can see in the video just above. (Rat tickling, it turns out, is good for the animals’ well being.) The purpose of this experiment was to better understand human touch — and tickling, says study author Michael Brecht, “is one of the most poorly understood forms of touch.”

Laughter, on the other hand, seems somewhat better understood, even among species separated from us by tens of millions of years of evolution. In their recent article, UCLA primatologist Sasha Winkler and UCLA professor of communication Greg Bryant describe how “play vocalizations” signal non-aggression during roughhousing. As Winkler puts it:

When we laugh, we are often providing information to others that we are having fun and also inviting others to join. Some scholars have suggested that this kind of vocal behavior is shared across many animals who play, and as such, laughter is our human version of an evolutionarily old vocal play signal.

Generally, humans are unlikely to recognize animal laughter as such or even perceive it at all. “Our review indicates that vocal play signals are usually inconspicuous,” the authors write. Rats, for example, make “ultrasonic vocalizations” beyond the range of human hearing. The play vocalizations of chimpanzees, on the other hand, are much more similar to human laughter, “although there are some differences,” Winkler notes in an interview. “Like, they vocalize in both the in-breath and out breath.”

Why study animal laughter? Beyond the inherent interest of the topic — an especially joyful one for scientific researchers — there’s the serious business of understanding how “human social complexity allowed laughter to evolve from a play-specific vocalization into a sophisticated pragmatic signal,” as Winkler and Bryant write. We use laughter to signal all kinds of intentions, not all of them playful. But no matter how many uses humans find for the vocal signal, we can see in this new review article how deeply non-aggressive play is embedded throughout the animal world and in our evolutionary history.
