The 94th Annual Academy Awards took a wild turn on Sunday night.

During the award show, Chris Rock was presenting an award when he made a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

It was reported that after the joke was made about a sequel to “G.I Jane” and Pinkett Smith’s bald head, Smith was deeply offended and walked toward Rock, slapping him in the face before returning to his seat.

He then, which the Oscars live-stream muted, began yelling at Rock. Smith reportedly said, “Take my wife’s name out of your (expletive) mouth.”

Pinkett Smith has been open about her struggle with hair loss.

The Dolby Theatre was shocked and so was Rock, as he appeared to struggle after the encounter to regain his train of thought.

According to one onlooker, who was in attendance at Sunday’s show, “Everyone in the mezzanine was standing up to see what was going on — everyone shocked.” You could hear a pin drop. Everyone was looking at each other like, ‘Is this really happening?'”

The insider added to People magazine, “Chris Rock looked stunned.”

Rock and Smith’s reps, along with the Academy, did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for a comment.

Sean “Diddy” Combs took the stage shortly after and said: “Will and Chris, we’re going to solve that like family at the gold party.” The cameras then panned to the Smiths who were seen laughing and clapping.

“I wanna apologize to the academy. I wanna apologize to all my fellow nominees,” he said. “This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me, it’s about being able to shine light on all of the people.”

“Love will make you do crazy things,” Smith added.

Will Smith hits Chris Rock at Oscars after Jada Pinkett Smith joke: ‘Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth’ | The Independent

March 31, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Rock was onstage at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to present the award for Best Documentary when he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s appearance.

“Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see you,” he quipped in an apparent reference to the actor’s shaved head.

Pinkett Smith – who announced last year that she shaved her head after struggling with alopecia – could be seen in the audience together with her husband, rolling her eyes at the joke.

After Rock’s comment, Smith stood up and proceeded to walk towards the stage.

“Uh oh…” Rock was heard uttering.

Smith then proceeded to hit Rock and then walk off stage back to his seat.

“Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me,” said Rock, looking visibly shocked at the moment.

Smith was then heard yelling: “Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth,” to which Rock replied: “Wow… dude. It was a GI Jane joke.”

“Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth,” Smith yells again. “I’m going to…” replied the comedian, who appeared flustered at the interaction.

“That was the greatest night in the history of television,” Rock said, before going on to present the award for Best Documentary.

Many viewers reported that the sound from the televised broadcast cut out during Smith’s outburst.

The Independent has contacted a representative of Smith’s for comment.

Denzel Washington, Bradley Cooper, and Tyler Perry were seen appearing to console Smith after the incident, with Smith revealing what Washington had said to him during his Best Actor speech for King Richard.

Earlier in the ceremony, Regina Hall – who was hosting the ceremony alongside Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes – poked fun at Smith and Pinkett Smith’s marriage.

Smith went on to win the Oscar for Best Actor, During his speech, he tearfully apologised to the Academy and his fellow nominees.

“I know to do what we do, you’ve got to be able to take abuse and have people talk crazy about you,” he said. “In this business you gotta be able to have people disrespecting you, and you gotta smile and you gotta pretend like that’s OK.

“I wanna be a vessel for love. I wanna say thank you to Venus and Serena and the entire Williams family for entrusting me with your story. That’s what I wanna do. I wanna be an ambassador of that kind of love and care and concern.”

Smith said he wished to apologise to the Academy and to his fellow nominees for the incident. Notably, he did not apologise to Rock himself.

At the conclusion of his lengthy speech, Smith joked that he hopes the Academy “invites me back”.

After the Oscars concluded, the Academy issued a tweet that said: “The Academy does not condone violence of any form.

“Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.”

In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that they were aware that an incident took place at the Academy Awards, but that no one involved had filed a report.

“LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program,” a spokesperson said.

“The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”

Smith’s son, rapper and actor Jaden Smith, also commented on the incident in a since-deleted tweet.

Ginny & Georgia renewed for season two after Taylor Swift slammed series for ‘deeply sexist’ joke | Daily Mail Online

March 30, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

After 52 million subscribers tuned in for the Netflix melodrama Ginny & Georgia, the series has officially been renewed for a season two.

Antonia Gentry, 23, and Brianne Howey, 31, will return as mother-daughter duo Ginny and Georgia, respectively, in 10 all-new episodes on the streaming network, Deadline reported on Monday.

Season one of the young adult drama made headlines when Taylor Swift slammed the show for a ‘deeply sexist’ joke about her dating history.

Peach! After 52 million subscribers tuned in for the Netflix melodrama Ginny & Georgia, the series has officially been renewed for a season two, Deadline reported Monday

The sophomore season of Ginny & Georgia will be produced in Toronto with the same all-female creative team behind season one, Deadline reported.

No date was given for when production will resume or when fans can expect to see new episodes roll out on Netflix.

‘We are so appreciative of the incredible response and love you all have shown Ginny & Georgia. We’re especially grateful to Brianne and Toni, who set the highest bar every step of the way. We can’t wait to return to Wellsbury for season two,’ said showrunner Debra J. Fisher and creator Sarah Lampert in a statement.

The series follows teenaged Ginny and her 30-year-old mom Georgia as they start anew in the posh suburban town of Wellsbury.

Hit series: The sophomore season of Ginny & Georgia will be produced in Toronto with the same all-female creative team behind season one, and no date was given for when production will resume or when fans can expect to see new episodes roll out on Netflix

In season one, Ginny finds herself in a complicated love triangle at her new high school – made even messier by the fact that she has the hots for her new best friend’s brother who also happens to be her next door neighbor.

Meanwhile her bombshell of a southern belle mom, Georgia, tries to outrun her checkered past while establishing herself in town – and with the hunky, single mayor … who is also her boss.

The series debuted on February 24 and joined the likes of 2021 Netflix juggernauts like Brigerton and Lupin, being watched by an astounding 52 million subscribers in its first 28 days.

Iconic: Antonia Gentry, 23, and Brianne Howey, 31, will return to Wellsbury as mother-daughter duo Ginny and Georgia, respectively, in 10 all-new episodes on the streaming network

Season one ended with Ginny and Georgia at odds and the teenager running away with her little brother Austin.

The finale also contained a throw-away joke about Taylor Swift’s long list of exes that, in todays climate, didn’t sit well with the superstar.

The 31-year-old Grammy-winner took to her considerable Twitter platform to hit out at Netflix for airing what she referred to at the time as a ‘deeply sexist’ and ‘degrading’ joke.

Taylor tweeted: ‘Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back,’ Taylor wrote. ‘How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse s*** as FuNnY.’

Drama: Season one of the young adult drama made headlines when Taylor Swift slammed the show for a ‘deeply sexist’ joke about her dating history

She went on to take a swipe at Netflix, pointing out: ‘Also, @netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn’t look cute on you,’ before adding a broken-heart emoji, and noting the irony that the controversy was kicking off on the first day of Women’s History Month.

In the episode, teenager Ginny Miller (Antonia Gentry) makes an off-the-cuff comment about Taylor’s dating life while arguing with her mother Georgia about her relationships.

After Georgia questions her daughter about whether she has had sex with someone, Ginny yells back: ‘What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift.’

Taylor took issue with this joke: ‘What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift.’

Rude! Taylor was quick to point out that the joke not only felt dated but was used during Women’s History Month … just weeks after her own doc Miss Americana aired on the same network

Following Taylor’s criticism, Antonia shared lengthy statement expressing her gratitude for fans support: ‘Thank you for the love and support you have shown me and our show, Ginny and Georgia, over the last week.

‘I never would have imagined something like this as a young girl — that is, having a voice capable of impact.

‘It is so meaningful to see the hundreds of messages from fans in my inbox who feel seen, heard and understood because of the show and its characters. It has also been fun to hear from those who were just happy to be along for an entertaining ride.

Adding in part: ‘As someone who grew up feeling voiceless and unimportant, and who did not see herself reflected on screen, Ginny Miller was finally a reprieve.’

Spoiler: Season one ended with Ginny and Georgia at odds and the teenager running away with her little brother Austin

Raven Goodwin to star as Hattie McDaniels in ‘Behind the Smile’

The ‘Being Mary Jane’ star will play the first African American to win an Oscar

Being Mary Jane actress Raven Goodwin is set to star in Behind the Smile, a biopic on legendary actress Hattie McDaniel.

Goodwin will play the iconic trailblazer who made history as the first African American to win an Academy Award. In 1939, McDaniel won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for her role as Mammy in Gone With The Wind and appeared in over 800 movies in her career.

“Hattie YOU did it. Because of your legacy, we are able to write and portray OURSELVES in whatever light we choose,” Goodwin said in a statement to Deadline. “I am forever honored. I look forward to bringing this important historical and relevant life story to the screen.”

Behind the Smile is being produced by Jami McCoy-Lankford of Hillionaire Productions and Global Genesis Group. Gregory Daniel penned the script.

“Raven Goodwin is such a phenomenal talent and a gift to this project,” added McCoy-Lankford.

“In our first meeting on Zoom, she already showed the kind of passion that is befitting such a complex and iconic character as Hattie McDaniel was.”

Goodwin most recently starred in another biopic, The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel, and had a recurring role in SMILF.

“It’s exciting to be involved in telling the story of a woman who is a part of American history as well as movie history,” added Rick Romano, President of Global Genesis Group.

“Now, more than ever, in a still divisive time in our country’s relationship with race, the story of Hattie McDaniel is meaningful and current. Individuals such as Hattie McDaniel were trailblazers in their struggle for equality, and their stories need to be told for our country’s understanding of inclusiveness and tolerance. We are thrilled to have Raven Goodwin play Hattie McDaniel and provide an honest look into the triumphs and tragedies of her life.”
