Romney Roasts Qanon Crazy Marjorie Taylor-Greene With Saturday Tweet

September 4, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Republicans like Mitt Romney (R-UT), those old guard establishment GOP members who never quite signed on to their party’s descent into Trumpism, are fighting a battle to keep their party alive in some semblance of its old form. New members like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) are rapidly undoing their work at the same time.

On Saturday, the beleaguered Taylor-Greene announced that she had spoken to the disgraced, twice impeached, former President Donald Trump, the man who redefined the Republican Party and shaped it to his own liking, and that he gave her his “full support.” In the past three weeks since the insurrection at the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021, Greene has been exposed as having insisted the Parkland and Sandy Hook school shootings were “false flags,” stalked school shooting survivors on the streets to harass them and tell them she was carrying a concealed weapon, accused that both 9/11 and the shooting in Las Vegas that left 61 Americans dead were inside jobs, and supported a theory that Jewish political figures had used a laser beam to start the forest fires in California.

This is the new face of the GOP, and Romney doesn’t appear all that comfortable with the idea.

Romney has famously sparred with Trump over the years, standing as the only GOP senator to have voted to convict him of trying to extort a foreign country in January, 2020. Just one year later, Trump’s crimes have mounted, targeting his own country, and inspiring the kind of whack-job conspiracy theorists like Greene to seek power. It will take more than an admonition on Twitter to correct these mistakes, and it will take more than one Mitt Romney to do it.

Twitter was supportive of Romney’s disdain for what his party is becoming. Read some of their comments below:

Antony, Richarlison, Gabriel Jesus, Casemiro and Lucas Paqueta – the Premier League has gone Brazil crazy with over £350m spent, and Neymar will be delighted ahead of the World Cup

September 4, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

With Brazil the current favourites to win the 2022 World Cup, it’s no surprise that Premier League teams are so desperate to sign their players.

There’s plenty of hope that the record five-time winners could take their first title in two decades, with stability in manager Tite and the pressure finally off Neymar’s shoulders with top class teammates all around him.

Last year was a learning experience for A Selecao, who lost their home Copa America to fierce rivals Argentina, but claimed gold at the Tokyo Olympics.

And now it’s all coming together, as long as big money moves by English sides don’t ruin their players’ form or confidence…

An estimated £350million has been spent by Premier League sides on players from South America’s largest country this summer and their impact is already being felt.

Gabriel Jesus, who will be integral to Brazil’s chances of success this winter, has started life as an Arsenal player with a level of confidence that looks insatiable.

A £45m move from champions Manchester City already looks to be one of the best deals in Europe this season with the 25-year-old getting two goals and three assists in just four games.

Richarlison, who created headlines with a controversial piece of samba skill at the weekend, has been deemed important enough that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte was happy to shell out £60m for his services.

‘I’d have sacked him’ – Jordan thinks Bournemouth board got it right with Parker

The fee raised some eyebrows with Spurs already possessing one of the league’s best front threes, but the former Everton man’s vital goals and tireless work rate for Brazil at the Olympics made the reason clear.

Elsewhere, five-time Champions League-winner Casemiro saw his mere presence at Old Trafford help Manchester United to a shock 2-1 win over Liverpool, kick-starting the Erik ten Hag era.

Real Madrid got £60m for the serial winner, but with plenty of time left on the clock at the age of 30, his masterful performances in defensive midfield could be the difference for both United and Brazil.

In fact, Ten Hag is so keen on what Brazilians can bring to his squad that he’s made Antony the third most expensive signing in Premier League history, reuniting the manager and player after two years together in the Eredivisie.

Some have questioned the wisdom of the £85m deal, but to question Ten Hag would also be to doubt Tite, who sees just as much in the winger that he will be a regular feature in Qatar.

Elsewhere, West Ham have spent a club record £51m to get Lucas Paqueta from Lyon, while Aston Villa brought in Diego Carlos from Sevilla, and made their loan for Philippe Coutinho permanent for £17m.

West Ham have broken their record for Paqueta, but former Lyon teammate Bruno Guimaraes is showing it’s worth it at Newcastle
Carlos’ brutal injury has ended his World Cup dream, but Villa teammate Coutinho will be vital

Both Coutinho and Paqueta are starters for Brazil, and now have the Premier League as their proving ground ahead of what could turn out to be the biggest tournament of their lives.

Ederson Moraes, Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Bruno Guimaraes are just a few more of the Premier League’s Brazilian stars to have become integral to their sides while Thiago Silva, Joelinton and Andreas Pereira continue to go under the radar.

The Premier League’s Brazilian summer arrivals

Antony, Ajax to Manchester United for £85m
Casemiro, Real Madrid to Manchester United for £60m
Richarlison, Everton to Tottenham for £60m
Gabriel Jesus, Manchester City to Arsenal for £45m
Lucas Paqueta, Lyon to West Ham for £51m
Diego Carlos, Sevilla to Aston Villa for £26m
Philippe Coutinho, Barcelona to Aston Villa for £17m
Andreas Pereira, Manchester United to Fulham for £10m
Renan Lodi, Atletico Madrid to N. Forest £4.7m loan fee
Marquinhos, Sao Paulo to Arsenal for £3m
Neto, Barcelona to Bournemouth free transfer

Not only will Tite be thrilled when he turns on the Premier League on a Saturday morning in Brazil, but Neymar will be too, with the Paris Saint-Germain forward previously hinting this World Cup could be his last, he now has the talent in England to make it a winning one.

And if that’s not enough to end two decades of hurt for the country that made the game beautiful? Well they’ve got Real Madrid’s trio of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Eder Militao to help them over the line.

Tite could almost name a side just of Brazilians signed by Premier League clubs this summer, and it would still be amazing

Queen Elizabeth’s Funny Reaction to the Cambridges’ Kitchen Reno

September 3, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Picture this: you’re Prince William and you’ve just spent a bunch of money renovating the kitchen in your fancy country “hall” that’s actually a full blown mansion. So you invite your grandmother, the literal Queen, over to check out the vibes, and she arrives in a state of 😐. Which pretty much appears to be what happened to Wills when he and Kate Middleton invited the Queen to lunch at Anmer Hall.

Speaking to People, author and royal expert Sally Bedell Smith recalled “I remember when they had just finished renovating Anmer Hall, and they invited the Queen over for lunch. They have one of those big kitchens with eating areas, and she said, ‘I can’t understand why everybody spends their time in the kitchen.'”

I mean…when you’ve literally never had to cook a meal for yourself, probably makes sense that the concept of people sitting around a kitchen might be confusing. Anyway! The Queen won’t have to hang in the Cambridges’ kitchen for too long, because apparently the couple are moving out of Anmer Hall and heading to Windsor in order to be closer to Her Majesty (not to mention closer to London, where their kids go to school).

Apparently, the couple have their eye on Adelaide Cottage, but there is some slight drama thanks to the fact that Princess Eugenie (who’s been living in the Sussexes’ Frogmore Cottage with her family) was also hoping to move into the home. TBD on what happens, but Prince William and Duchess Kate get priority what with William being heir to the throne and whatnot, so chances are Eugenie will be finding herself somewhere else to live.

US tennis legend Williams pays tribute to the ‘CRAZY’ Arthur Ashe crowd | Daily Mail Online

September 3, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Serena Williams paid tribute to the ‘crazy’ Arthur Ashe crowd and vowed to ‘lay it all out’ for her final ever tournament after securing a first-round US Open victory over Danka Kovinic on Monday night.

Williams, 40, is retiring when she bows out at Flushing Meadows, but she ensured that isn’t happening quite yet after her 6-3, 6-3 win – on the same court she has won six previous US Open titles in her extraordinary career.

Addressing the crowd during an emotional farewell ceremony in Queens, she said:  ‘First of all, thanks. I didn’t expect any of this. You know, I always just gotta be the best I can. I feel so comfortable on this court in front of everyone here. When I step out onto the court, I just want to do the best I can do on that particular day.

Serena Williams was delighted to secure a victory in the first round of her final tournament

Williams addressed the crowd after organizers paid an emotional tribute to the six-time champ

Billie Jean King also spoke fondly of Williams and reminisced on the pair’s first ever meeting

‘The crowd was CRAZY. They really helped pull me through. I was really pumped up, like, “Yes, I got this”.

‘It’s been such a hard decision. I think when you’re passionate about something and you love something so much, it’s always hard to walk away. Sometimes it gets harder to walk away than not. I’ve been trying to decide what to do for a while. I do [still love this game]. I also love it because it keeps you fit, which is a bonus.

‘I was like, “alright, I think now’s the time”. I have a family. There’s other chapters in life, I call it an evolution.

‘I have my company, Serena Ventures. Like I said, we invest in a lot of people, women, women of color, and men as well. I really wanted to spend more time at home and work on my spiritual life. It’s like Serena 2.0. I’m still going to be intense… I’ll still be around.’

Fans held up cards to display the message ‘We love Serena’ after the match on Arthur Ashe

In a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium, US Open organizers paid tribute to Williams with a series of montages and messages from the likes of Billie Jean King and Oprah Winfrey, with the latter reading a letter to the 23-time Grand Slam champion.

‘What’s there to say… the years went by in a blink,’ Winfrey’s message began, watched by a record crowd inside the arena. ’98 feels like yesterday. You’ve given us so much, all we can do is thank you.

‘Thank you for making the bright lights brighter, and the Big Apple bigger. Thank you for showing us how to be graceful, powerful, fearless. Thank you for dressing to the nines and bringing your dancing shoes.

‘Thank you for turning Centre Court into center stage. Thank you for bringing the house down. Thank you for showing us what it means to come back, and for never, ever backing down.

King delighted the crowd and admitted she wore pink because ‘it’s Serena’s favorite color’

Williams holds her hands in a heart shape after praising the ‘crazy’ crowd inside Arthur Ashe

‘Thank you for changing the face of the game, and for inspiring the next generation. Thank you for thinking outside the lines and for encouraging us to evolve. Thank you for showing us how to love the sport, and for always loving us back.

‘Just know, whatever you do next… we’ll be watching you. With love, all of us.’

Tennis legend Billie Jean King was also on court in a bright pink outfit – chosen ‘because it’s Serena’s favorite color’ – and she recalled the time the pair first met.

‘We first met in April of 1988, when she was six years old and her sister was seven years old, at a tennis clinic where we had 1200 kids in Long Beach, California. I’ll never forget that day.

Williams celebrates during the match, in which she secured her place in the second round

A new attendance record was set inside the Arthur Ashe Stadium for the match Monday night

‘I had Serena hit, and then I said, “Can you serve?” She says, “Yeah I can serve.” I say, “Can we all see it?”, she says, “Okay.” Anyway, she serves… and I told her, “Don’t change a thing.” Her serve is by far the most beautiful in the history of our sport.’

King went on to label Williams as ‘fearless’ and said it’s ‘great’ how much she hates to lose.

‘Thank you for your leadership and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, especially for women and women of color,’ she added, before finishing by shouting: ‘You’re just beginning.’

There was much talk on the night of Serena’s sparkling Nike outfit, which the six-time US Open champion revealed more about in her on-court interview after the match.

‘I have six layers to represent the six [US Open] wins, but I took four out because it was too heavy!’

When asked what she wanted people to remember about her legacy, Williams explained: ‘It’s so important to give your all no matter what you do, how many obstacles you face. I’ve been down so much so many times, in the public eye, and I’ve had to come back… but never give up.

Williams laughs during her interview with TV personality Gayle King after the match

‘It sounds cliched, but no matter what you’re going through, I just want people to be inspired by my story. I’m from Compton, California, and I made it!

‘This is [it]. We’re laying it all out here… I can’t speak for my sister, but it’s going to be so fun playing doubles. It’s going to be crazy. We haven’t done it in so long and I’m really looking forward to it.’

Conversation then turned to life after tennis, and it became clear exactly what Williams is looking forward to: family life.

‘I look forward to waking up and being like, “I don’t have to run to the court today.”, she explained. ‘I’m looking forward to being a good mom. She’s such a good girl.

‘I’m just me, I’m just Serena. I feel like I just blend in with the crowd sometimes. I feel like I do.

‘Just keep coming out and supporting me as long that I’m here. Just know that I love you so much and I’m so excited to be here!’

Watch axed Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo prank Ferdinand live on BT Sport and prove Carragher snub WAS personal

September 3, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

CRISTIANO RONALDO hugged BT Sport pundits Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes and ex-Liverpool ace Peter Crouch before Manchester United’s clash with Southampton this afternoon.

The Portuguese star raised eyebrows when he blanked Jamie Carragher during Sky Sports’ coverage of the Red Devils’ win over Liverpool on Monday night.

Ronaldo, 37, embraced old team-mates Gary Neville and Roy Keane on that occasion, pointedly skipping outspoken critic Carra.

Today at St Mary’s he proved it wasn’t merely an anti-Liverpool player thing, having beamed as he embraced ex-Red Crouchy.

Ronaldo also pranked his pal Ferdinand, squirting water at his shoes.

Rio, who donned an all-white outfit, moaned: “I’ve got suede shoes on and he’s squirting water on my shoes man!”

As BT Sport showed the clip of Ronaldo greeting their pundits, host Lynsey Hipgrave, who replaced Jake Humphrey this season, said: “I was the one being blanked this time, which I wasn’t too happy about Rio!”

Earlier this week, Ferdinand claimed that his pal Ronaldo deliberately tried to “humiliate” Carragher on Monday Night.

The 43-year-old said on his Vibe with Five show: “Knowing Cristiano Ronaldo, Jamie Carragher’s been very vocal about Ronaldo being the problem and stuff like that.

“Trust me, Cristiano would’ve seen those comments and would’ve been thinking walking over there I’ll just let this guy know with a little… he needs to kind of calm him down, humiliate him and show him up, whatever way you want to dress it up live on TV.

“Cristiano is very calculated, he’s very aware of what’s going on, he’s not somebody who sits at home and switches off.

“I’ve always said this, he uses social media and people’s comments as fuel to drive him on to be the best he’s done that since he was a young kid.”

Ferdinand then added: “Anyone who spoke bad about him in the media he knew about it. He mentioned Gary Lineker to me once about stuff because Gary Lineker is a massive Messi fan.

Cristiano will take that personally

Rio Ferdinand

“I was thinking bro you’re not even in this country how are you seeing the footage. He knows everything.

“For Jamie Carragher to continually call him out, he’s got a right to his own opinion Jamie, but Cristiano will take that personally.

“He’s an emotional guy and he’ll show that his actions were no surprise to me. I find it funny, I find it hilarious to be honest.”

Carragher responded to the snub on Twitter, after Soccer AM tweeted: “*Insert custard pie emoji*.”

The Liverpool legend hit back: “I get a custard pie for getting it right on Ronaldo from day one!

“The custard pie for him from ETH shows the Manager thinks the same!

“Maybe the ex Man United Legends (sycophants!) will now agree with me.”
