Lakers’ Alex Caruso Makes Hilarious Admission About KCP | Heavy.com

Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso.
After finishing 21st in the NBA in 3-point percentage, the Los Angeles Lakers have started off this season red hot from beyond the arc. They have shot 40% from three through 16 games, which is third-best in the league. Much of the Lakers’ success from three is thanks to Kentavious Caldwell Pope.
The veteran guard is shooting close to 57% on 3-pointers this year, which would put him on pace to break the record for the highest percentage in a season. Kyle Korver shot slightly less than 54% during the 2009-2010 season. Caldwell-Pope has an excellent game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday when he hit 7-10 from three. Despite the strong performance, Lakers teammate Alex Caruso didn’t realize the guard played that well.
“He made seven threes?” Caruso said after Thursday’s win, via Silver Screen & Roll. “I didn’t even know that.”
Caruso was called out for not noticing and just chalked it up to Caldwell-Pope making it look easy.
He makes it look EASY! I’m just so use to it I didn’t realize 😅😂😂 https://t.co/sxnBsy6e9d

The Lakers handed Caldwell-Pope a sizable contract in the offseason and it’s starting to look like one of the better moves the team made. He’s been the team’s best shooter and a valuable piece on offense. LeBron James knows what makes Caldwell-Pope important.
“KCP, he knows why he’s out on the floor,” LeBron said. “That’s to spread that floor, that’s to give us a lot of energy … When he’s open, we want him to shoot it. When he’s guarded closely, we want him to still shoot it. When he’s shooting the ball, he’s just so good. He’s just so good for our ball club.
“He just gives us a different dynamic. He just gives everyone energy, and we love when he’s taking and making shots, and we love when he’s just aggressive and being himself. That’s big time.”
Caldwell-Pope Is Playing With Confidence
A switch clearly flipped for Caldwell-Pope in last year’s playoffs. He’s been playing some of the best basketball of his career and hasn’t begun to slow down. The guard believes that added confidence has helped lead to his uptick in production.
“It’s just the confidence in the work I put in,” Caldwell-Pope said. “I know where my shots are going to come from, where I need to be to get them shots, and just being in a great rhythm every game. I try not to worry about no missing shots.
“I mean, I had two or three shots last game against Golden State. I try not to let that mess with my mind, that I’m not getting shots. I know they’re going to come. It’s just being ready to shoot and staying in a good rhythm.”
It remains to be seen if Caldwell-Pope can keep up the historic pace. Odds are that he does hit a bit of a slump before the season is over. However, when he gets hot, he might be the Lakers’ third-best player. Caldwell-Pope proved he could flip a switch in the playoffs last season so the team should be really excited about what he could do this year.
Ohio Elementary School Puts Funny Celebrity Signs In Carpool Line
An elementary school PTA group in Ohio made morning drop-off lines bearable — by entertaining parents.
On Aug. 29, parents who drove to Austintown Elementary School in Youngstown for the first day of classes were greeted by a pop culture flashback: Traffic signs inspired by beloved celebrities.
“Can’t park here!” read a sign with an image of rapper MC Hammer in his “U Can’t Touch This” era.
“Tell the kids Bye, Bye, Bye” was printed on a second sign showing former boy band NSYNC, referencing their 2000 hit song.
“Hey girl, move your car all the way up,” stated a sign bearing actor Ryan Gosling representing his popular “Hey Girl” meme.
A sign with members of the girl group TLC read, “Don’t go blocking drop off lanes,” spoofing the 1994 hit song “Waterfalls.”
Another sign featured actor David Schwimmer’s “Friends” character Ross Geller holding a couch. “PIVOT!! Out of the drop off line!” it read. The joke is from a February 1999 episode in which Ross and his friends struggle to move a couch into his apartment.
The last sign showed a car wrapped in Saran plastic wrap along with the phrase, “Please stay in your vehicle.”
Jessica Lippillo, the president of the Austintown Elementary PTA, told TODAY Parents she was inspired by an Arizona school district that posted creative drop-off signs. Lippillo said she wanted to make parents smile too.
“Drop-off lines are hard,” she said. “Ours usually runs smoothly but this year, some of our kids are attending school for the first time ever because of COVID. Students and parents are feeling anxious and I wanted to alleviate their stress.”
The signs are for the parents’ enjoyment, clarified Lippillo, not the younger students, who probably won’t recognize the celebrities.
“My older kid knows about NSYNC because I listen to ’90s boy band music,” she joked, adding that amused parents have posted comments on Facebook like, “These aren’t for the kids — they’re for us!”
Lippillo had a second motive for posting the signs: “I wanted parents to see that the PTA has a sense of humor.”
The signs will stay put for another week, then will be removed to preserve them.
Lippillo, who is already thinking ahead to different end-of-year signs, said PTA members from all over the country have called her to ask about the signs. “That’s nice to see.”

‘Everyone knows this guy is crazy’ – Oleksandr Usyk wants to face Tyson Fury in 2023 but is open to Anthony Joshua trilogy if undisputed fight falls through, which won’t be December
Unified heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk is desperate to make an undisputed fight with Tyson Fury but he’s unsure if it’ll actually happen.
Usyk retained his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles with another convincing victory over Anthony Joshua last month to set up a mouth-watering clash with ‘The Gypsy King’.

Fury has retired twice since beating Dillian Whyte in April and insists only ‘obscene’ amounts of money would get him back in the ring.
A fight with Usyk in Saudi Arabia on December 17 has been proposed by Fury’s promoter Frank Warren – but the undefeated fighter wants the Saudis to cough up £500m to coax him out of retirement.
During a recent press conference in Ukraine, Usyk revealed that talks are underway for a fight with Fury, but he is not sure if they’ll amount to anything.
“I want the WBC title,” he told gathered media in Kyiv on Friday.

“Although many in the boxing world would like this fight, we don’t know what Tyson has in his head. Everyone knows that this is a very crazy guy.
“Managers and promoters are working to make the fight take place. I would really like this fight to happen next year. But if it’s not Fury, then there is no interest in boxing with anyone else.”
The 35-year-old has no interest in returning to the ring this year and explained why a potential fight between him and Fury will not take place until next year.
“Fighting Tyson Fury in December is impossible,” Usyk added.
“For two reasons. First, I have old injuries that need to be treated. They made themselves known. Recovery will take a couple of months.
“Second, I just don’t want to box in December. I haven’t left the gym for half a year, I want to be with my children, my family, there are certain things to do at home. Boxing can wait a little. Next year, I think it will happen.”

While his heart is set on a fight with Fury, the former cruiserweight king hasn’t closed the door on a trilogy bout with Joshua despite convincingly beating the Englihsman in successive fights.
“If Fury floats away, then maybe we will agree on a third fight with Joshua,” Usyk concluded.
Before that can happen, Joshua has some work to do. Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is already planning a comeback fight for his star client later this year and has suggested next summer he could rematch Dillian Whyte in a UK stadium show.
Who knows, this time next year Usyk vs Joshua 3 may be in play.
