Laughing at the Mess We Can All Be Here’s a video that might catch you off guard. You might recognize the subject; it’s Wisp, a Tampa, Florida, rescued Persian kitten. Wisp has become an internet sensation precisely because she’s a hot mess. She has been described as a ‘sentient crinkled napkin,’ who is ‘always in the middle of an existential crisis.’ But that’s why everyone adores her even more. And she’s living the happiest life thanks to her mom and supporters. Wisp has never been shy about loudly letting Mom know when she wants something. But be warned: the vocals in the video below are a little shockingly funny! “There should be a warning sign on [this]. Although she at first thought one of the adult cats was a boy, she got a surprise at home when ‘Gerald’ gave birth to one solitary white kitten, Wisp, at home. Unfortunately, the mama cat neglected the kitten, so she had to bottle-feed her at all hours. At first, vets thought Wisp was a boy, but then they determined she was a girl. In many respects, Wisp was born different, with a disability that sometimes makes it hard to poop. (She’s had multiple procedures at the vet to help her.) No matter how many baths she gets, she always has messy-looking fur, which some have compared to ‘a used Q-tip.’ But to thousands of fans online, Wisp is delightfully odd. Of course, this kitty doesn’t know she’s any different and enjoys life each day in her own way. “Gerald ended up being a Gertrude, and she gave me the most magical creature I’ve ever laid eyes on.” A Stinky Scrungly Cat Wisp is so unusual that people have come up with unique words to describe her appearance, like ‘scrungly,’ among countless other new adjectives. Whatever words they choose, the rescuer loves hearing the funny descriptions and laughs along with them. “I had to ask somebody what that was,” she said of the word, ‘scrungly.’ “But anyways, I could not agree more. She is a crusty, dusty kitten; she usually looks like she’s been through it, sometimes looks like a mad scientist.” Everything that makes Wisp a mess just makes her all the more endearing. People can’t get enough of the crusty character, and she’s done wonders in raising awareness and support for her mom’s Rags to Riches Animal Rescue Inc. You can see much more on TikTok.
