Harry Kane has claimed he’s ready to live up to the ‘big expectations’ at Bayern Munich following their 4-3 win over Manchester United.

The England captain scored the third goal for Bayern as they strolled to victory in their Champions League group stage opener on Wednesday night.

Despite the scoreline, the match swung heavily in Bayern’s favour – with United launching a late comeback in the form of a quick-fire Casemiro brace.

Reflecting on the match, Kane told TNT Sports: ‘Obviously towards the end of the game it was a bit frantic but overall I think we controlled a lot of the possession.

‘We probably should have been four or five-one up after we got the third but credit to Man United, they tried to get back into the game but overall it’s three points and a really good start to the campaign’.

Harry Kane admitted that he’s looking forward to life at Bayern Munich after their 4-3 win

The former Tottenham striker now has five goals from his opening six games at Bayern

The England captain now has five goals from his opening six games with the German giants and admitted that he’s ‘enjoying’ life in Munich.

‘It’s been nice. It’s always great to score. Always room for improvement. It’s a great night tonight. We’re building. We can enjoy this.

‘It’s exciting to play with them. We’re still getting to know each other. I’m excited for what’s to come. Whenever there’s a big price tag there’s a big expectation and you want to repay the club who have put faith in you.’

The former Tottenham striker also took sympathy with United, as he claimed they are ‘going through a difficult spell with injuries’.

During another post-match interview, CBS Sports pundit and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry jokingly told Kane that he ‘looks good in red and white’ – a clear reference to the Gunners.

Kane brushed aside the comment with a laugh before going on to further describe his start to life in Germany.

‘I think obviously it’s still early on in my career here and I’m still getting to grips with the players and the coach and the way we want to play.

‘I feel like I’m still getting to know the players around me – how they move, how they run, what kind of passes they like. So that will come over time. The good thing is we’ve started well’.

Kane stepped up to the spot in the second-half to extend Bayern’s lead over United

Manchester United have now lost their last three matches in all competitions

Bayern took the lead on the night through Leroy Sane’s long-range effort which squirmed underneath the body of United’s Andre Onana, before Serge Gnabry doubled their lead just before the break with a well-taken strike.

United fired back after half-time thanks to Rasmus Hojlund before Kane extended their lead from the spot following a Christian Eriksen hand-ball.

The visitors fired back with two goals either side of a Mathys Tel strike in the final moments of the match.

United will hope for better fortunes in their next group stage game against Galatasaray on October 3rd, when Real Madrid will take on FC Kobenhavn.
