Mohamed Salah’s links to Saudi Arabia is sure to have Liverpool fans reminiscing about his best Premier League moments.
Amid the ongoing speculation regarding a record-breaking move to Al Ettifaq, Reds have had to imagine a life without their talisman.
Not even Tottenham’s top scoring star Harry Kane scored more Premier League goals than the ‘Egyptian King’, with Salah netting 139 times in the top flight since joining Liverpool in 2017.
No other player has scored more than that in the Premier League in that time, either, so the Reds would undoubtedly miss his firepower.
The 31-year-old has helped Jurgen Klopp’s side win the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the League Cup during his time at Anfield.
But it was in England’s top flight that Salah has truly written his Liverpool legend.
From frustrating former title rivals Man City’s manager Pep Guardiola, to humiliating Reds rivals Manchester United, the winger has created plenty of moments of magic that will live on in football fan’s memories. So, with a Liverpool exit still a possibility, what have been Salah’s Premier League highlights?
Running riot against Man United
Salah has helped his side win bragging rights over rivals Man United on many occasions, but it was his performance in October 2021 that will stand out for Reds fans.
The winger scored a hat-trick in just 50 minutes to add to Keita and Diogo Jota’s first half goals as Klopp’s side sealed a 5-0 win at Old Trafford.
He also got the assist for Keita’s goal, too.
Salah scored for the 10th appearance in a row, inflicting a loss of five or more goals without scoring at home for the first time in almost 70 years on Man United, leaving manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer furious.
Record-breaking brace
It’s no surprise that another stunning performance against Man United makes it in to Salah’s Premier League highlights. But this time, a record-breaking moment arrived on a record-breaking day for the Reds in March this year.
Salah overtook Robbie Fowler’s all-time Premier League Liverpool goalscoring record as he found the net in the 83rd minute of Liverpool’s biggest ever victory over Man United – a 7-0 win at Anfield.
The historic win marked Salah’s 128th and 129th Premier League goals for the club.
“It’s very special, I can’t lie,” the winger said at the time. “This record was in my mind since I came here. I think after my first season I was always chasing that record. To beat it today against United with that result is unbelievable.”
Giving Guardiola nightmares
Liverpool and Man City were title rivals before last season, with the two clubs going toe-to-toe in the 2021/22 season, only for Pep Guardiola’s side to snatch the Premier League trophy on the final day.
But when the two sides met the following season, Salah left Man City’s boss seriously frustrated.
Salah got on the end of a glorious, pin-point cross straight from goalkeeper Alisson Becker before turning Joao Cancelo and firing in what turned out to be Liverpool’s winner.
Before Salah had even finished the job, cameras showed Guardiola throwing his arms in the air, with him knowing exactly what was about to happen.
That’s a moment Liverpool and Premier League fans alike won’t forget in a hurry.
