Burglary victim gets the last laugh after using tracker in designer purse to lead police to suspects

February 20, 2024 by humorouz Leave a Comment

A burglary crew was nabbed by police after the efforts of a victim who used a tracker in a designer purse to lead police to the suspects.

The Los Angeles Police Department said that the victim of a burglary saw the crew at his home through surveillance video and also through the sudden movement of the tracker in the purse.

He went to the location of the tracker and witnessed the crew working at another house. The car he saw there matched the description of the car he saw at his home.

“He had already seen surveillance footage from his house, and he saw the same vehicle parked in front of a house,” said LAPD Detective Timothy Kirkpatrick to KCAL-TV. “He saw them fleeing from a house with property put inside of the car and quickly driving away.”

He then contacted police and led them to the location of the tracker in Inglewood.

Police said that a police helicopter captured footage of the alleged burglars trying to break into a safe that they had stolen that same day. They arrested three suspects and discovered merchandise, firearms, and the stolen handbag in the home.

Investigators believe the burglary crew was involved in more than 20 thefts from homes in the Los Angeles area.

“The M.O. they were using, they were going along the side of the house into the rear yard and smashing one of the windows and going inside,” said Kirkpatrick.

“This is a significant arrest,” he added. “The victim was definitely important in this one, assisting us and helping direct us to the suspects and where they were.”

Sparring partner hails Francis Ngannou’s ‘crazy’ power

February 19, 2024 by humorouz Leave a Comment

A day or two after Carl Froch dismissed Francis Ngannou’s chances in his upcoming boxing match with Tyson Fury, another former title-winning boxer has landed on the other side of the debate.

French-Cameroonian heavyweight Carlos Takam, a boxer who has shared the ring with the likes of Anthony Joshua, Joseph Parker and Alexander Povetkin in a 48-fight career in the heavyweight division, has been a key sparring partner ahead of Ngannou’s professional boxing debut with WBC champ Fury set for October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

And while he is no doubt slightly biased about his compatriot’s chances in the upcoming fight, he has said during a recent interview that Ngannou’s power exceeds even that of Deontay Wilder — a boxer commonly cited as being among the hardest punchers in the history of the sport.

Wilder, of course, boxed Fury three times and knocked him down (and nearly out) in their first meeting. But if Ngannou lands similarly flush, Takam says that it’s going to be lights out for Fury.

“No, Francis’ power is crazy bro. It’s very crazy. Seriously,” Takam said during a recent interview. “I really think if Tyson Fury takes that punch from Francis, he not gonna get up.”

Takam also added that, in addition to Ngannou winning the boxing match, he will also take on Fury under MMA rules before both of their careers are over.

“I think Francis is gonna win this fight, and the next one is gonna be an MMA fight between them,” he said.

Bill Gates thought the internet would make all of us more responsible, but he realized it just helped ‘a critical mass of crazy people’ find each other

February 19, 2024 by humorouz Leave a Comment

When the internet was taking off, Bill Gates thought it would make the world more rational. But it turns out that it’s been used by “crazy people” to help them find each other, he said. Gates said he initially believed people would use the internet to responsibly seek information. Bill Gates said he was originally expecting the internet to make the world a more fact-based, rational place, but has come to realize it’s become a tool for disinformation and “crazy ideas.” “I will admit, the people who drove the digital revolution, including myself, really thought that the world would get more rational,” Gates said at a fireside chat on Thursday in New York. Gates was talking about the implications of artificial intelligence on the world, and reflected on his own predictions during the original digital revolution. The Microsoft founder said that as the internet was taking off, he believed it would “make the world so factual.” He thought the internet would drive people to search up information and responsibly empower themselves, giving an example of how someone could learn about a lawsuit by looking up what both the plaintiff and defendant claimed without relying on a news article. And if someone had a question about a topic in science, they could “go read the articles and see everything about them,” the billionaire said. Internet entrepreneurs like him expected to drive “Socratic debate,” he added. What Gates hadn’t foreseen, however, was how the internet would be used by the world’s people with “crazy ideas,” he said. “There were a lot of them out there. They were just not finding each other,” Gates said. “And now, with digital tools, said: ‘Oh you think that crazy thing? Me too! Let’s get together and have a critical mass of crazy people. Let’s, you know, call ourselves QAnon.'” Gates said he hoped younger generations would be able creative enough to solve the disinformation issues of the current day. The billionaire said he’s open to AI being regulated — adding that anyone who fights against AI regulation just sounds “stupid.” Despite his admissions about the internet, Gates said he feels positive about AI, saying it could relieve labor shortages and make the world richer. “I’m more optimistic about AI because of the near-term benefits,” he said.

Pat Freiermuth ‘Excited To See Smile’ On His Mother’s Face After He Finishes His Degree

February 19, 2024 by humorouz Leave a Comment

They say you’re never too old to keep learning, and that certainly seems to be the case for Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth. The former Penn State star told Christian Hackenberg and Brandon Bell on The Pocket podcast that he is spending part of his offseason taking care of some unfinished business.  “I’m actually currently enrolled at Penn State right now taking classes to finish up getting my degree,” said Freiermuth. Freiermuth left school early to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft where the Steelers selected him in the second round at 55th overall. When describing what the transition back to the classroom was for him, Freiermuth simply said, “Brutal.”  But Freiermuth is no slouch in the classroom. As a high schooler, he was Named to the Boston Globe’s All-Scholastics team, which recognizes the area’s student-athletes who make an impact both on and off the field.  Still, Freiermuth says it’s been tough to hit the books again. In fact, he told Hackenberg and Bell that following their interview he had a group project to do with some younger students, whom I’m sure are looking forward to meeting up than he is. According to Freiermuth, his motivation for going back to school is his mother. “I promised my mom I’d get my degree, so I’m excited to see the smile on her face when I get it,” he said. After Freiermuth graduates from Penn State, he immediately will be enrolled in his newest area of study: the Arthur Smith offense. As I’m sure everyone reading this already knows, the Steelers have hired the former Atlanta Falcons head coach as their offensive coordinator, and he figures to implement a physical, run-oriented offense. Smith’s offenses have historically featured tight ends. Just last season Kyle Pitts saw 90 targets while Jonnu Smith saw 70. In fact, both players ranked among the top 20 for targets at their position in 2023 with Pitts at 11th and Smith at 20. No other team had two tight ends with the same amount of target share. Expect Freiermuth, along with Darnell Washington and Connor Heyward, to be heavily involved in this offense. Hopefully, Freiermuth’s time as a scholar will help him to quickly learn and teach his teammates what figures to be a more complex offense for the position.

‘Sister Wives’ Meri Brown debuts new ‘good looking’ boyfriend following Kody split: ‘We laugh a lot’

February 18, 2024 by humorouz Leave a Comment

“Sister Wives” star Meri Brown announced on her birthday that she has moved on with a new man since her split from ex-husband Kody Brown. “Birthday #53 is looking a bit different for me this year, and might I say, I like how it looks!” the reality star wrote via Instagram Tuesday. “Meet Amos, the good looking guy I’ve been dating since October!” Meri — who was one of four women in a polygamous relationship with Kody — added that she’s been keeping her new romance under wraps while they’ve been “enjoying the last few months of dating and getting to know each other.” She continued, “As I’ve considered when and how I wanted to share this fun news and share him with the world (jk, not really sharing, I’m keeping him to myself 😉) I knew I wanted to celebrate my birthday in a special way and let you celebrate this with me!” Adding some humor to her relationship launch, Meri added, “He’s not 6 foot 6, nor is he a pilot, but he loves Christmas almost as much as I do, and we laugh a lot together, both of which are important elements to a relationship!” Her carousel post featured several photos of the two, including a snap of the couple posing with her dog, Zona. Another sweet shot showed the dog’s paw resting on top of Amos’ hand, which Meri called the “cutest.” “Also, Zona absolutely loves him,” she gushed. This is Meri’s first public relationship since she and Kody, 55, confirmed in December 2022 that they called it quits. The former couple — who were legally married for 24 years — were together for 32 years together before their split. At the time, Meri recalled during an episode of “Sister Wives: One on One” how Kody said he “didn’t consider [himself] married” to her. “Like, he just made the decision. I’ve never heard him say that to me,” she said, per People. Christine Brown, who was with Kody for 25 years, announced her exit from the polygamous family in November 2021, with Janelle Brown following in her footsteps in December 2022. In December 2023, Christine, 51, detailed the lack of intimacy and respect she received from Kody that led to their separation. “It was, like, five times in one year,” the former reality star said on Heather McDonald’s “Juicy Scoop” podcast. “There’s sex and then there’s intimacy. What we didn’t have was intimacy.” The mother of six also recalled the last straw in the relationship came when Kody wasn’t there as their daughter Ysabel underwent spinal surgery. “The final thing for me was Ysabel’s surgery,” Christine said. “[Kody] said to [Ysabel] … ‘I can’t leave my family for that long.’ Ysabel goes, ‘I thought we were family. I thought he was my dad.’ She was like, ‘What am I?’” Kody and Robyn Brown — who legally tied the knot in 2014 — remain together. Looking back on his time with the four women, Kody shared in December 2023 that he wouldn’t advise polygamy today. “I don’t advise people marry and go over three wives,” he said in an interview with People. “I’m not an advocate of plural marriage, but I’ve had my own experience in it and I’ve had my own failures in it. Because of that, I’m like, you got to be really, really wise about who is doing it, how they’re doing it.”
