‘I’m not finished’: Kamala Harris annoyed by more border-visit questions, scolds Univision anchor with upturned finger, smile, and that familiar giggle

March 23, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Vice President Kamala Harris turned in yet another awkward interview performance Thursday as Univision anchor Ilia Calderón pressed her on what’s become the eternal question: When will she finally go to the border to witness the migrant crisis in person?

What happened?

“I’ve said I’m gonna go to the border,” a clearly flustered Harris told Calderón. “And I—”

With that, a stern-faced Calderón interrupted Harris and sank her teeth in: “When are you going to the border, Vice President?”

There was a pause in the exchange, presumably due to a satellite delay — and then Harris wasted no time displaying her mood.

Briefly closing her eyes as if she couldn’t believe someone beneath her had the nerve to issue a challenging question, the vice president showed the whole world how annoyed she was.

‘I’m not finished’

“I’m not finished,” Harris answered with an upturned finger before putting on a smile and letting loose with her signature giggle.

It was reminiscent of the viral moment during her debate last fall with then-Vice President Mike Pence, who also managed to annoy Harris with an interjecting comment as she began to talk. And a condescending Harris practically patted Pence on the head: “Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking. I’m speaking, ‘k?”

In the case of her interview with Calderón, the mood remained tense.

“I’ve said I’m going to the border. And also if we are going to deal with the problems at the border, we have to deal with the problems that cause people to go to the border, to flee to the border. And that is the root causes,” Harris said. “So my first trip as vice president of the United States was to go — in terms of a foreign trip — to Guatemala, to be on the ground there to address and to be informed of the root causes: ‘Why are the people of Guatemala leaving?'”

“Do you have a date for your trip to the border?” Calderón asked.

“I will keep you posted,” Harris replied.

Harris made headlines earlier this week when she gave a cringeworthy answer to NBC News’ Lester Holt regarding when or if she’ll go to the border — you know, given that’s the job President Joe Biden gave her.

“And I haven’t been to Europe!” Harris replied with that laugh of hers. “And I mean — I don’t understand the point that you’re making.”

The White House wasn’t amused, however, and it was reported that “some administration officials” were “quietly perplexed about what they perceive as her bumpy answers to questions about whether she will go to the US-Mexico border.”

200k People Are Loving This Funny Instagram Page That Shares “Very Finnish Problems” (50 New Pics)

March 23, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

When you think of Finland, what things pop straight into your mind? If you pictured the Moomin valley or the Santa Claus village, it’s so much more than that. With their insanely complex language and world-class education system, there’s also the mesmerizing nature, clean air, and thousands of crystal clear lakes. Heck, it’s even been nominated as the happiest nation in the world for four consecutive years!

But like every country, it too has its own weird little quirks, even if they seem hilarious and silly. Enter the Very Finnish Problems, an Instagram account dedicated to highlighting Finland’s national identity with a pinch of fun.

From the Finns’ burning love for saunas and coffee to their sacred personal space, we have collected some of the best memes the account had to offer. Continue scrolling and upvote the ones that made you laugh! And if you’re hungry for some more Finnish goodness, check out our previous posts about it right here and here.

Very Finnish Problems is one of the biggest projects celebrating the Finnish lifestyle online. Tens of thousands of followers enjoy its content on Instagram, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg. People can also stumble across such hilarious memes and jokes on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Plus, there’s even a whole website dedicated to honoring the Finnish charm.

The founder of this project, Joel Willans, is a British Helsinki resident who created the account in 2016. A year later, he published a best-selling book 101 Very Finnish Problems: A Foreigner’s Guide to Surviving Finland, and then a sequel . These books are full of humor and essential insights into the highs and lows of fantastic Finland to help people deal with all this country can throw at them.

“I’m the Creative Director at a digital marketing agency, Ink Tank Media, and I bet one of my clients that I could create a Facebook page of 10K fans in a month without spending a penny,” Joel explained the origins of Very Finnish Problems in a previous interview with Bored Panda last year. “The bet was made during Finnish winter, which was typically dark and very, very cold. The pavements were super slippery and it was taking me ages to walk to work, and I remember thinking how winter is trying to kill me, and what a very Finnish problem that is.”

He then realized it was one of the very many Finnish quirks “faced by an Englishman in the far north. That was how it all began, and it clearly resonated with lots of people, because I won the bet and got nearly 20K fans in a month.”

When asked about his followers, he said they’re extremely active. “The biggest demographic is Finnish women between 25-54. But there’s lots of other nationalities and age groups too,” he explained. “Besides Finns who enjoy hearing about Finland from a British man’s perspective, there’s foreigners who love Finland and foreigners who might have a Nordic background.”

Well, Joel was once a foreigner too. While he quickly fell in love with the Finnish lifestyle, he told Bored Panda he’s still getting used to it, even after living there for over 18 years. “Of course, the culture shock isn’t as hardcore as it was, and I do a lot of Finnish things now without even noticing it. For example, if somebody had told me 20 years ago I’d learn to love saunas, I’d have laughed at them,” he revealed jokingly.

Most of the VFP memes showcase a slice of Finnish life. From the harsh yet beautiful weather to the deep introversion of this country’s citizens, there are plenty of clichés that fuel such hilarious content. “Like all stereotypes, there’s an element of truth,” Joel said. “But also like all stereotypes, it’s exaggerated.”

The creator of this project personally thinks Finns are just more straightforward and honest than many other nationalities. “Rather than being polite and pretending to be interested in chatting like we do in the UK, if Finns don’t want to talk to you, they won’t.”

He continued: “Living in the EU’s least densely populated country, I think they’re also more comfortable being alone or with family in the wilderness. That’s another thing I’ve certainly learned to love.”

While some beliefs people have about the Finns are inaccurate, they can still be a great source of entertainment. “Needless to say, for all the horrors of COVID-19, there was lots of talk about how self-isolating and maintaining distance suited Finns. Even in difficult times, I think it helps to try to laugh, so at times we had some fun with that.” Also, research that highlights unexpected characteristics about this country helps him think of new memes. To illustrate, he mentioned a study that found pineapple was Finland’s most popular pizza topping.

Moreover, Joel sees many more opportunities to brighten people’s dull days by celebrating the relatively odd and charming Finnish habits. “I’ve plans to relaunch the Very Finnish Problems podcast very soon. We originally launched it four years ago and, for a while, it was one of Finland’s top five podcasts, but then work and life got in the way. We only did 19 episodes, so there’s plenty left to talk about.”

“I’m also looking at getting into the world of Finnish-themed NFTs and considering a third Very Finnish Problems themed book, although it would take a different angle to the previous two. So, plenty of things in the pipeline!”

Bling Empire Review: More Than Just a Crazy Rich Asians or Bravo Reality Knockoff | TV Guide

March 22, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

The new Netflix show Bling Empire sells itself as being a real-life Crazy Rich Asians, and at first, it appears to be another one of those reality shows that chronicles the lives of the idle rich. But where it really gets interesting over the course of its eight episodes is when it turns out to be an exploration of identity for a few of the main cast members.

The show may look like a Bravo castoff or a companion to Selling Sunset, Netflix’s vapid and claws-out series about blonde realtors in L.A., but you’ll soon find more under the layers of its Asian cast at lavish parties, going on spending sprees, and draped in designer clothes and shoes. Bling Empire uses the grotesque opulence to hook viewers, but in a refreshing twist, that’s not all there is.

Best New Shows and Movies on Netflix This Week: Heist Thriller Lupin, Richard “Night Stalker” Ramirez True Crime Series

The series puts handsome model/actor Kevin Kreider at the center, and as he’s new-ish to Los Angeles, he’s quickly befriended by a group of very sparkly, affluent friends. His main buddy is Kane Lim, the son of a Singapore billionaire, who works for his father’s business. Kane is Kevin’s social navigator and introduces him to Kim Lee, who is a famous DJ in East Asia and is super close to her mother and stepfather. Kim wants to find her biological father and a couple of the later episodes devote time to finding him, with Kevin and Kane lending their help to the matter.

In the role of “Most Likely To Land on a Bravo Real Housewives Show” is Christine Chiu, the wife of a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon and the mother to one-year-old “Baby G,” as the baby is referred to. Chiu is a couture fashion hunter-gatherer who tries so hard to be the queen bee of the social group, but alas, she’s not quite up to the task.

Beautiful and sweet Kelly Mi Li is part of the group but her storyline seems to be mostly as a potential romantic partner for Kevin, but sadly, she’s still hung up on her on-again, off-again temperamental boyfriend Andrew Gray, whose biggest credit is that he once portrayed a Power Ranger. Insert chef’s kiss gif here.

Fashionista and influencer Jaime Xie is the daughter of another insanely rich parent, and while she’s good at spending her family’s fortune on couture, she also makes a lot of money in her own right. You might be inclined to shrug her off, but when she talks about making $40,000-$60,000 for an Instagram post, you start to take her more seriously.

The most compelling character of the show comes out of left field. Unlike the other cast members, Anna Shay is at least 60 years old if she’s a day. A Beverly Hills socialite who plays the queen bee role very well, Shay is the daughter of the late billionaire entrepreneur Edward Shay and his Japanese-American wife Ai-San. Her father founded Pacific Architects and Engineers (PAE), a contractor of defense services that specialized, at least partially, in top-secret work for the United Nations and U.S. government. In 2006, Anna and her younger brother Allen sold PAE to Lockheed Martin in an all-cash, $1.2 billion deal. She lives a life many of us dream of: flying to Paris on a private jet on a whim, dropping loads of dough on clothes, jewelry, and other trinkets wherever she may be in the world, and throwing parties at her mansion where the group convenes to talk about each other and gossip about Anna’s private life. The really wonderful thing about Anna is how little she cares about impressing anyone and how skilled she is at reading people and knowing their motives. Pay extra close attention to when Anna and Christine interact. No spoilers here but it’s so worth the watch just for those scenes.

Happily, Bling Empire turns out to be more than a Bravo wannabe. Here’s hoping Netflix orders more episodes because these stories of making your way in a new city, and one as socially and culturally confusing as Los Angeles, and finding friends you can bond with, are universal and deserve to be told.

TV Guide rating: 4/5

Bling Empire premieres Friday, Jan. 15 on Netflix.

‘F***ing joke’ – Paul Scholes slams Man Utd flops after loss to Wolves with brutal Instagram post

March 22, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

PAUL SCHOLES raged on social media following Manchester United’s defeat to Wolves.

United were second best at home to Bruno Lage’s side with Joao Moutinho scoring a late goal as the match finished 1-0.

Paul Scholes shared what he thought of the match on Instagram

Cristiano Ronaldo and his team-mates performed way below par once again[/caption]

It is Ralf Rangnick’s first loss as Red Devils boss and Scholes was appalled at the performance.

He took to Instagram to describe United’s display as a “f***ing joke.”

And he posted two emojis which can be assumed to translate to ‘s***houses.’

It was a throwback to how United played under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – players looked clueless and were often exploited by the pace of Daniel Podence and Nelson Semedo.

And United’s ineptitude showed in the stats with Wolves managing 19 shots to their nine, with just two on target.

David De Gea kept his side in the game in the first half when he saved brilliantly from Ruben Neves’ volley.

United managed just two shots on target – one of which was Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick in the dying seconds.

The Portuguese also wasted a good chance to score – striking the bar from inside the box.

And although United had a change in captain with Cristiano Ronaldo picking up the armband from the injured Harry Maguire, it was a typically ineffective performance from the Red Devils.
