‘Friends’ Star Comes For Kanye West After He Posts That The Show’s ‘Not Funny’

September 16, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

“Friends” star Courteney Cox got everyone’s attention when she reacted to a since-deleted post from Kanye West in which the rapper shared on Instagram that the hit NBC show was “not funny.”

The 58-year-old actress shared a video on her social media Tuesday that showed her first rocking out to West’s 2008 “Heartless” as it appeared she was scrolling though her phone. Cox then zoomed into Kanye’s since-deleted post in which he claimed that he never tweeted that the show was “not funny,” but wished he had, Page Six reported in a piece published Wednesday.

“I actually didn’t write the tweet that said ‘Friends’ wasn’t funny either,’ but I wish I had,” the 45-year-old rapper shared in his post on Instagram, before basically deleting all his posts but one.

After Cox read what West said about “Friends,” she stopped rocking out, turned off the phone, and left it and the room behind.

She captioned her post, “I bet the old Kayne thought Friends was funny.”

The reference to the “Friends” tweet happened in 2020 during the presidential election when Courteney’s former co-star Jennifer Aniston endorsed Joe Biden for president over then-President Donald Trump, People magazine noted.

At the time, Aniston warned people about voting for West, who was also running for president.

“It’s not funny to vote for Kanye,” Aniston’s tweet read. “I don’t know how else to say it. Please be responsible.”

Someone then made it look like West tweeted a dig at “Friends” in response, which in his recent Instagram post, he said he never did, but agreed with it.

Cox starred as Monica Geller, alongside Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer in the hit 90s sitcom. Kudrow herself recently made headlines when she said that the show had “no business writing” storylines about “being a person of color” in response to criticism that she show didn’t have many black people as part of the cast.

“Well, I feel like it was a show created by two people who went to Brandeis and wrote about their lives after college,” Kudrow said. “And for shows especially, when it’s going to be a comedy that’s character-driven, you write what you know. They have no business writing stories about the experiences of being a person of color. I think at that time, the big problem that I was seeing was, ‘Where’s the apprenticeship?’”

Behind the Meaning of the Patsy Cline Classic “Crazy”

September 15, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Despite her relatively short time in the spotlight, Patsy Cline helped change the tide in country music in the late ’50s and early ’60s. Her music not only helped usher in what we’ve come to know as the classic “Nashville sound” but clinched cross-over appeal from country audiences and the crooner-obsessed big-city crowd alike.

“Crazy” is undoubtedly one of her biggest hits and has endured for some 60 years since its release. As we mark the singer’s birthday (September 8), let’s take a deeper look into the meaning of the 1961 single.

“Crazy” was written by a little-known songwriter, at the time, Willie Nelson. Originally titled “Stupid,” Nelson hustled to get the track heard on Music Row in Nashville. The song was written with Billy Walker in mind, but he later felt it better suited a woman’s voice: enter Patsy Cline.

Upon first listen, Cline hated the song. Fortunately, her husband, Charlie Dick, loved it and urged her to record it. It went on to become one of her biggest hits, with her execution of each high note making her claims of “feeling so lonely” cut right to the bone.

Cline was thrown into a windshield just two months before she recorded “Crazy.” During the first recording session, her iconic high notes almost didn’t happen thanks to a broken rib. Two weeks later, she did her vocals while standing on crutches. You wouldn’t know it to listen to it though and her powerhouse vocals are well on display in the final product.

Cline died just two years after “Crazy” was released. It played a large part in solidifying her space in the annals of country history. It has also long been considered one of the greatest country songs to ever be recorded as evidenced by its place in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Behind the Lyrics

“Crazy” recounts that all too familiar feeling of losing your mind post-breakup—which is probably why it’s endured all this time. A classic torch number, the track finds Cline despondent after losing her love. In the chorus, it’s revealed that he has run off with someone else.

Though she has always known it would never work between the pair, she is still reeling from heartache. Though to her it seems crazy, you can’t really blame her— it happens to the best of us.

Crazy, I’m crazy for feeling so lonely
I’m crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you’d love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you’d leave me for somebody new

Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wondering what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I’m crazy for trying and crazy for crying

Enduring Legacy

In the years since the 1963 plane crash that claimed Cline’s life, a vast array of artists have covered “Crazy.” Linda Ronstadt, The Kills, Loretta Lynn, Dottie West, LeAnn Rimes, Wanda Jackson, Neil Young, and Shirley Bassey, to name just a few.

Nelson has also recorded multiple versions, including an early version on his debut album …And Then I Wrote and a live trio accompaniment with Elvis Costello and Diana Krall. Cline and “Crazy” defined an entire generation of country stars and the classic “Nashville sound.” As anyone who has been to Music City knows her legacy is alive and well.

Just last year, “Crazy” was given a music video for the first time, recorded at Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge and featuring an appearance from Mickey Guyton.

“It is wonderful that ‘Crazy’ remains such a beloved song 60 years after mom recorded it and it’s very exciting that its 60th anniversary is being celebrated with this great new video,” Julie Fudge, Cline’s daughter, told the Associated Press around the time of the video’s release. “I hope that mom’s fans enjoy it and that it also helps new audiences discover her music.”

Not a Joke: Jen Psaki Announces New Job at MSNBC

September 15, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

As if fact-checking wasn’t already bad enough, meet the new truthfulness gatekeeper at MSNBC: Jen Psaki.

Seriously. Stop laughing, everyone.

According to The Wrap, the former White House press secretary for President Joe Biden told an audience at a conference in Beverly Hills, California, that her new MSNBC show will be dedicated to “debunking things, calling out BS.”

“First of all, my business is not rage,” Psaki said Wednesday at Vox Media’s Code Conference.

“What I hope to do is bring that passion for explaining things, debunking things, calling out BS when you see it to my next job,” she said.

The streaming series doesn’t drop until 2023 — but if you need a preview, Psaki went on to demonstrate just how dedicated to calling out BS she was.

The Wrap reported that Psaki “called analysis that saw Biden’s speech Thursday as partisan ‘bizarre,’ noting that ‘there’s a tactical component of what he’s saying publicly … but it’s not a reflection of a change in his view.’”

Just so we’re clear, this is the speech we’re talking about — the one where he calls “MAGA Republicans” a foundational threat to our democracy:

“Equality and Democracy are under assault. We do ourselves no favor to pretend otherwise,” says President Biden, at the beginning of his remarks tonight.

Psaki’s business might not be rage, but the president’s certainly was — at least last week. “MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution,” he told America.

“They do not believe in the rule of law,” Biden said. “They do not recognize the will of the people … MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards — backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love.

“They promote authoritarian leaders, and they fan the flames of political violence that are a threat to our personal rights, to the pursuit of justice, to the rule of law, to the very soul of this country.”

Don’t call that kind of rhetoric partisan, though. Otherwise, Jen Psaki is going to have to debunk your bizarre BS. Capisce?

Of course, Psaki herself left no doubt in attendees’ minds as to whether she was partisan. Spoiler alert: Yeah. Duh.

“I’m not trying to hide from what my past experiences are,” she said.

Will you be watching Psaki’s new show?

Daniel Craig recalls the moment the ‘very funny’ Queen cracked a joke at his expense | Daily Mail Online

September 15, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Daniel Craig has recalled the joke the Queen made at his expense when they met during their 2012 Olympics skit, with the star hailing her as ‘very funny’.

The country’s longest-reigning royal, Queen Elizabeth II, died ‘peacefully’, aged 96, at Balmoral in Scotland on Thursday.

And prior to her death during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the US on Wednesday, the James Bond actor, 53, looked back on their meeting as he told the host what she was like in private.

Memory: Daniel Craig has recalled the joke the Queen made at his expense when they met during their 2012 Olympics skit, with the star hailing her as ‘very funny’

Keen to know what the monarch was like behind closed doors, Stephen, 58, asked: ‘I understand that you may not be able to answer this question, but I’m gonna ask anyway: What’s she like in private?’

Remembering their time together, Daniel – who appeared in the now infamous Olympics opening ceremony sketch with the Queen a decade ago – replied: ‘Very funny. Very funny’

‘[She] wants to crack a joke, and [she] cracked a joke about me.

‘We were having our photographs taken and she just went, ‘Oh no, he’s the one that doesn’t smile. Fair enough!’

So sad: The country’s longest-reigning royal, Queen Elizabeth II, died ‘peacefully’, aged 96, at Balmoral in Scotland on Thursday

The 007 star then went on to describe what her beloved corgis were like, recalling how he enjoyed time playing with the ‘friendly’ dogs.

He explained: ‘I was rolling around on the floor with them most of the time.

‘I think they have their own footmen, they’re very friendly.’

The No Time To Die actor, and Her Majesty filmed a hilarious scene for the opening ceremony, featuring 007 accompanying the royal Bond girl to a helicopter.’

Chat: Prior to her death during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the US on Wednesday, the James Bond actor, 53, looked back on their meeting as he told the host what she was like in private.

The memorable scene ended with stunt performers, doubling for Bond and the Queen, jumping out of the helicopter and parachuting into the stadium.

The recorded sequence – directed by Danny Boyle –  opened at Buckingham Palace, where a tuxedo-wearing Craig as 007 was presented to the Queen by her personal footman as she was writing a letter and training her corgis Monty, Willow and Holly to roll over.

Greeting him with an ‘Evening, Mr Bond’, the Queen, in a rose-pink dress, was seen striding briskly through the palace with the action hero before climbing into a helicopter emblazoned with the Union Flag.

The two were depicted as soaring over the streets of London and through Tower Bridge until they finally reached the Olympic Park.

Funny: ‘[She] wants to crack a joke, and [she] cracked a joke about me. ‘We were having our photographs taken and she just went, ‘Oh no, he’s the one that doesn’t smile. Fair enough!’ (pictured with the Queen at the Casino Royale premiere in 2006)

Speaking about the skit in 2012, the actor said:  ‘It wasn’t supposed to be funny. It was supposed to be serious.

‘She was fun, incredibly game. We had a short space of time and I was a bit grumpy as it was my day off and suddenly I am at the Palace with the Queen at her private chamber.’

‘And she improvises a little bit. She was supposed to be sitting at the desk and she asked if she could write, so she pretended to write.’

In 2019, the Queen’s dressmaker and confidante Angela Kelly revealed it took ‘just five minutes’ to persuade Her Majesty to agree to director Danny Boyle’s request for her to appear alongside Daniel Craig in the famous footage of her appearing to parachute into the Olympic Stadium.

Mrs Kelly, the Queen’s dresser of 25 years, wrote in her book The Other Side Of The Coin: The Queen, The Dresser And The Wardrobe how she was called to a meeting with Boyle and private secretary Edward Young to discuss the idea in 2011.

Four-legged pals: The 007 star then went on to describe what her beloved corgis (pictured) were like, recalling how he enjoyed time playing with the ‘friendly’ dogs

‘I asked him and Edward to give me five minutes so that I could ask the Queen,’ she said.

‘I remember the look of shock on Danny’s face that I would be asking Her Majesty straight away, but there’s no point in waiting around with these things: If she said no, that would be the end of it.

‘I ran upstairs and luckily the Queen was free. She was very amused by the idea and agreed immediately. I asked if she would like a speaking part. Without hesitation, Her Majesty replied, “Of course I must say something. After all, he is coming to rescue me”.

‘I asked whether she would like to say, “Good evening, James” or “Good evening, Mr Bond” and she chose the latter, knowing the Bond films. Within minutes, I was back in Edward’s office delivering the good news to Danny – I think he almost fell off his chair when I said that the Queen’s only stipulation was that she could deliver that iconic line.’

Meanwhile, after calling his interaction with the Queen, Daniel shared a heartwarming tribute to her following her death.

In a statement to the PA news agency, the 007 actor paid tribute to the former monarch, saying she would be ‘profoundly missed.’

‘I, like so many, was deeply saddened by the news today and my thoughts are with the royal family, those she loved and all those who loved her. She leaves an incomparable legacy and will be profoundly missed.’

Following the Queen’s death, a host of other big names from the showbiz world shared tributes to the monarch, including Victoria Beckham, Sir Elton John and Mick Jagger.

It comes as Britain is today mourning the death of its beloved Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. After a remarkable 70 years on the throne, the country’s longest-reigning royal yesterday died ‘peacefully’, aged 96, at Balmoral in Scotland.

Her death sparked an immediate and huge outpouring of emotion, with thousands of heartbroken mourners gathering outside the gates of Buckingham Palace and other royal buildings yesterday evening.

Rest in peace: It comes as Britain is today mourning the death of its beloved Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II

At one point, a rendition of ‘God Save The Queen’ rang out among the mourners, followed by cheers of ‘Long Live The King’.

Others laid flowers outside Windsor Castle – where The Queen had spent much of her time following the death of her beloved husband, Prince Philip, in April last year.

And in a sign of the Queen’s considerable worldwide influence and appeal, royal fans laid flowers outside British embassies including in Washington, Berlin and Oslo.

Senior royals dashed to be at the Queen’s bedside on Thursday, but did not reach Balmoral in time before she passed, it is believed.

Only her eldest children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne, who were already in Scotland at the time of the Monarch’s sudden turn for the worse, were able to make it to the royal estate before her death, sources said.

Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, his wife Sophie, and Prince William all flew in from Berkshire via private jet to Aberdeen on Thursday as they dashed to Balmoral to see her. But it is understood that they did not reach the estate before she passed.

Prince Harry, who was due to attend a charity event with wife Meghan in London on Thursday, also attempted to reach Balmoral in time. But he arrived at 8pm, nearly an hour-and-a-half after the public were informed of the Queen’s death.

The Queen’s son Charles, the former Prince of Wales, is now King Charles III, while Prince William has inherited his father’s title and is now, along with his wife, styled The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge. William is also now the ‘heir apparent’ to the British throne.
