Ivan Toney may end up having the last laugh as Arsenal drop crucial points again – Mirror Online
After converting the third of three glorious chances that came his way, Ivan Toney was only interested in collecting a shirt from the bench and sending support to his absent team-mate Sergi Canos.
He was not interested in responding to the mild abuse from some home supporters.
The 26-year-old striker might have been tempted, feeling Arsenal fans over-reacted to his infamous tweet on opening day of the 2021/22 season.
“Nice kickabout with the boys,” Toney posted after a 2-0 win over the Gunners.
Ahead of the reverse fixture later in the campaign, Mikel Arteta used Toney’s mickey-taking message to motivate his men.
Displaying it on a screen, the Arsenal manager said : “You know what he (Toney) did, you know his tweet? ‘Nice kickabout with the boys’. So, today they play in our house guys, and there is only one team on that f****** pitch.”
His colourful rallying cry went on in similar vein and it worked, Arsenal winning that game 2-1 and, then, after the Premier League leaders won at Brentford earlier this season, some of Arteta’s players poked fun at Toney.
Well, it turns out Toney might just have had the last laugh.

There is a lot of football to be played but Toney’s equaliser – one which Brentford thoroughly deserved – could turn out to be a crucial moment in the title race.
For the second successive Saturday, Arsenal found an imposing physical challenge tough to cope with.
To put it simply, Arsenal looked lightweight and last weekend’s defeat at Goodison Park and this draw will raise questions about their durability in a protracted title chase.
Their shortcomings, such as a work-rate that was not up to scratch here, will be analysed ahead of the meeting with Manchester City on Wednesday.

But the priority in the wake of this contest should be to pay tribute to the job Frank and his players are doing.
In fact, in the context of current form, it could have been argued that Brentford would pose as difficult a challenge as the one City will bring to the Emirates.
If there is a Premier League manager who remains somewhat under-rated, it is Frank.
Perhaps his quirkiness means he is not treated with the same sort of gravitas as some rivals but he has done a towering job with Brentford.
Frank is a counter-attacking specialist, which is why he has enjoyed success against possession-hungry elite teams.
In the first half, the home side dominated the ball, the away side dominated the chance tally.
But Rico Henry hooked a sitter towards the corner flag and Toney sent an equally glorious opportunity onto the meeting of post and crossbar.
It was a rare false moment from Toney, whose link-up play was outstanding all afternoon.
Toney – named in one England squad but not given a kick – has Football Association betting charges hanging over him but Gareth Southgate insists the prospect of those charges was not the reason for his omission from the World Cup party.

If Southgate picks on form alone, it is hard to think Toney will not be under serious consideration for the games in March.
And he will be under the same serious consideration when the wealthy weigh up their striking options in the next window, even though he was guilty of squandering another presentable opening early in the second half, inviting Arsenal to step up their game.
Briefly, the Gunners did just that, substitute Leandro Trossard tapping in a brilliant assist from Bukayo Saka.
But, on the balance of play, justice was served when Christian Norgaard presented Toney with a chance that he actually could not miss.
His 14th Premier League goal cemented his unpopularity in these parts but if Arsenal do go looking for a striker in the summer, at least they know one who would definitely fit the bill … like him or not.
Dad impersonates Aldi cashier in funny viral video
This story, one of our favorites of all time, was originally published on October 2, 2019.
The first time Travis Cunningham’s wife, Taylor, took him grocery shopping at Aldi, the couple left the store in hysterical giggles.
So Travis did his best Aldi cashier impersonation for a video that’s gone viral.
“My first impression of Aldi is memorable, to say the least,” Travis told TODAY Parents, explaining that his initial opinion of the discount store was that the prices were budget-friendly and the food selection was great. “Then we got to the checkout and I noticed Taylor had been stockpiling boxes the whole time — that’s where the fun began.”
When shopping at Aldi, customers must bring their own bags, pay for bags or use boxes from the store. After checking out, customers bag or box their own groceries. But first, Aldi cashiers ring up the items and place them back in the shopping cart for transport to the bagging area.
“I was taken aback by how quickly they scanned and the means in which they placed the items in the cart,” said Travis. “I thought the worker was just having a bad day and Taylor could tell I was about to say something and basically held her hand over my mouth. I wasn’t angry, I was basically laughing wondering if this person just hated canned goods or was going for a high score shooting them into the cart.”
“By the time we got to the car, we were basically crying laughing,” Travis continued. “I was picturing my groceries banged up like they just went 12 rounds.”
In Travis’ impression, he kneels at his kids’ Melissa and Doug play grocery store and tosses groceries into a shopping cart. “Welcome to Aldi,” is all the El Paso, Illinois father of two says, while his kids and wife giggle in the background.
Nearly 400,000 people have shared the video on Facebook. And judging by the comments, Aldi shoppers everywhere can relate.
“Aldi staff always chucking things around,” said one commenter.
“That’s exactly how they do it,” said another. “Same facial expression and everything!”
Taylor says while the skit made her family laugh, she and her husband mean no offense to the grocery chain.
“We shop at Aldi. We certainly meant no disrespect to the employees or company,” said Taylor. “As far as the impression goes, that’s just a normal night at our house. We have lots of fun and sometimes that fun turns into over-the-top impersonations that lead to tears from laughter.”

Courteney Cox mocks Kanye West after he says ‘Friends’ is ‘not funny’
More On:
Courteney Cox wasted no time clapping back at Kanye West’s recent critique of “Friends.”
The actress, who starred as Monica Geller in the hit sitcom, was taken aback by the rapper’s now-deleted comment on Instagram in which he said the show was “not funny.”
West, 45, set the record straight on some of his past tweets, admitting he didn’t write many of them. One of the tweets in question was about “Friends” not being funny.
Though he claimed he didn’t write it, the rapper said he “wishes” he did.
Rushing to social media, the 58-year-old actress, posted a reaction video to the controversial hitmaker’s hot take.
With West’s “Heartless” track playing in the background, the actress showed her 12 million Instagram followers West’s comment, before turning the song off and walking away.
Spelling Kanye’s name wrong in her caption, she wrote, “I bet the old Kayne thought Friends was funny.”
After taking some time off, the rapper slowly returned to Instagram last week to discuss his business ventures.
Things quickly took a turn when he began discussing his family — and his “addiction” to porn.
“Don’t let Kris [Jenner] make you do playboy like she made [Kylie Jenner] and Kim do,” West wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. “Hollywood is a giant brothel Pornography destroyed my family I deal with the addiction Instagram promotes it Not gonna let it happen to Northy and Chicago.”
In another post, West called out the Kardashian’s “c–m doners [sic]“ — aka Travis Scott, Scott Disick and Tristan Thompson – who were romantically involved and had kids with Kim’s sisters Kylie Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian, respectively.
The “Gold Digger” rapper also posted what appeared to be a text Kim sent from her mom, Kris Jenner, begging him to “stop” his Instagram rants that stress her “to no end.”
