I ordered a vegan in-flight meal — what I got was a ‘joke’

May 19, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

She’s not motivated by this vegan meal.

A motivational speaker has furiously slammed KLM Dutch Airlines for her lackluster vegan meal during her six-hour flight from Accra, Ghana to London, claiming she only received fruit and nuts for the entire 4,500-mile-long journey.

Juanita Headley called the meal a “joke,” saying she was only given pineapple pieces, a tangerine and a handful of nuts as the airline’s in-flight meal. For the second service, she said she was presented with a cold vegan wrap, a banana and an additional bowl of nuts.

“Thank God I don’t have a nut allergy or I would have been on fruit rations,” the irate London resident told JamPress.

“In this day and age where veganism isn’t a new phenomena it is unacceptable that a six-hour long-haul flight don’t carry a few extra meals for situations like this,” she added.

Headley said at the very least, the airline should make sure the vegetarian option is also vegan.

“That would make life very simple for crew and passengers,” she pointed out.

The Post has contacted KLM for comment.

The weary traveler uploaded snaps of the food online, which left her fellow vegans fuming over the lack of food.

In 2023 that’s simply outrageous,” one shocked user wrote.

“Sorry you’ve had this experience, I’ve had similar but in 2014 and ever since I’ve always carried food just in case,” another added, with someone else described the entire meal as an “afterthought.”

“How difficult is it to have an alpro yogurt, tomato, broccoli and vegan cheese pasta?” one user raged. “Basic stuff.”

Others were less sympathetic, telling the woman she should just bring her own food.

“I reckon you’ll survive six hours,” they snarked.

Taylor Swift can’t hide her smile as she leaves studio session with Matty Healy   | Daily Mail Online

May 19, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Matty Healy is the lead singer of British band The 1975, who, as well as having battled heroin addiction, was expelled from school for fighting, smokes fat joints in interviews and is generally better known for sex and drugs than rock and roll.

Healy has a unique take on being famous, having grown up the child of famous — now divorced — parents.

His father Tim Healy is best known for his role in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet and his mother Denise Welch was famous when he was growing up for her role in Soldier Soldier.

She even had a (brief) singing career, releasing a single which nearly made the top 20. In 1997, she was cast in Coronation Street and the family moved from Northumberland to Manchester.

By this point, Welch was suffering from depression, and medicating with alcohol and drugs, although she has been clean for some time.

Healy met his The 1975 bandmates – Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald, and George Daniel – at Wilmslow High School in Cheshire, where they were all ‘misfits’.

DailyMail.com is taking a deep dive into the life of Taylor Swift’s rumored new beau Matty Healy; the pair seen in 2015

Bad boy: Healy is the lead singer of British band The 1975, who, as well as having battled heroin addiction, was expelled from school for fighting, smokes fat joints in interviews and is generally better known for sex and drugs than rock and roll

They used to rehearse at Healy’s house — which was teeming with famous people, including Ringo Starr, Mark Knopfler, Rick Wakeman and AC/DC’s Brian Johnson (who happens to be his godfather).

He told an interviewer: ‘I’d be playing on a guitar in the house, not knowing it was the one from [Dire Straits’] Romeo And Juliet.’

One night, after hearing him play, prog rock legend Rick Wakeman pulled him to one side and told him he had ‘it’.

His father Tim told him once: ‘Music is in your bones. You’re the reincarnation of John Lennon. It’s in you.’

Despite the backing of his parents, the band struggled to get signed by a label.

Healy even toyed with an acting career, making a cameo in the BBC school drama Waterloo Road, in which his mother also starred.

The band released four EPs before releasing their debut self-titled album The 1975 in 2013, which topped the UK Albums Chart.

Following this success, they released four subsequent albums, have won four Brit awards and played Glastonbury three times.

He missed his mother’s wedding to artist Lincoln Townley in 2013 because the band were supporting the Rolling Stones on tour.

By the time he was 25, he was talking about having had a small heroin habit and a larger cocaine one before he was famous, and claimed that they have been overcome.

But in the summer of 2017, the rest of the band staged an intervention, and told him to go to rehab for booze, heroin and opiate use.

He flew to Barbados and spent eight weeks in rehab, which included equine therapy.

He said of his horse mentor: ‘I wanted to impress it more than any human being I’ve ever met. There were so many qualities I envied in this horse. And he had great hair.’

More recently, he has been living in West London and having a much quieter life. He has tried yoga, and swimming, and has been trying to get on top of the frequent migraines he suffers.

But, having fallen for the world’s most visible female pop star, that has all changed in the blink of an eye. The question is, to quote one of Taylor’s songs, are they Ready For It? Or will it be a swift ending?

Netflix’s Queen Cleopatra: The Rotten Tomatoes scores are so bad, it’s kind of hilarious

May 18, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Ladies and gentlemen, it looks like we have a strong contender for the biggest Netflix bomb of 2023. Following the controversy surrounding the streaming giant’s newly released docuseries Queen Cleopatra — produced and narrated by Jada Pinkett Smith — this 4-part “docudrama” has debuted to literally the worst possible audience score a piece of content can receive from Rotten Tomatoes:

One percent.

That’s where the Rotten Tomatoes audience score for Queen Cleopatra currently stands as of this writing, which is kind of amazing. I’ve rarely, if ever seen an audience score this low, and the only thing that comes close that I can recall off the top of my head is National Geographic’s 2021 documentary Fauci, the audience score for which currently stands at 2%.

About Queen Cleopatra, I think it’s also worth pointing out that the series is currently the #6 Netflix TV show in the US today (per the Top 10 row of content inside the app). I’ve explained in the past how that “Top 10” label is really kind of a misnomer, because it’s more a signal of recency as opposed to popularity. How else to explain why newly added box office bombs shoot all the way to #1 on Netflix, or that one of the Top 10 shows on Netflix has just earned the lowest possible score you can get on Rotten Tomatoes (besides zero)?

As for the controversy that dogged Queen Cleopatra prior to its release, that’s due to what critics have blasted as a kind of historical revisionism. The decision was made to cast Cleopatra in the series as black, a lack of definitive historical evidence notwithstanding. “Blatant historical misconception,” opined the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, which has said that while Cleopatra’s ethnicity has been the subject of much debate, the record suggests she was Greek and descended from a Macedonian dynasty.

“Her ethnicity is not the focus of Queen Cleopatra, but we did intentionally decide to depict her of mixed ethnicity to reflect theories about Cleopatra’s possible Egyptian ancestry and the multicultural nature of ancient Egypt,” the producers said, in a statement released by the streamer.

As you can see from the Rotten Tomatoes scores above though, that explanation has produced a series that’s satisfied neither fans nor critics. A quick search on YouTube for “Queen Cleopatra,” meanwhile, brings up the series’ trailer (which you can check out below) at the very top, and it’s followed by one video after another castigating Netflix and the series, with titles like:

PK Subban Made A Lizzo Weight Joke On Air: Reactions

May 18, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

During her time in the spotlight, Lizzo, unfortunately, has dealt with body shaming, whether from Kanye West or Aries Spears or Twitter trolls. Now, another name can be added to that list: PK Subban, a recently retired NHL all-star who’s currently a hockey analyst with ESPN.

During a recent broadcast (as The Huffington Post notes), Subban and his co-hosts were discussing the the NHL’s ongoing Stanley Cup Playoffs, specifically the Toronto Maple Leafs’ recent home loss to the Florida Panthers. John Buccigross said the Leafs should “pack a lunch” in preparation for the next game, and Subban replied, “Maybe they need to pack a Lizzo-sized lunch.”

“Lizzo sized lunch”😭😭😭

— KuttaBanda (@dreamzz_kidd) May 3, 2023

Subban has yet to offer a public comment about what he said, but he did take to Twitter to explain the meaning of all the lunch talk, writing, “Pack a lunch… lock in! Be ready to compete! Bring work boots! Expect that they are going to try and outwork you in hard areas!”

— P.K. Subban (@PKSubban1) May 3, 2023

Naturally, people didn’t care for Subban’s Lizzo joke. One Twitter user wrote, “My dad on Subban’s Lizzo comment last night. ‘Subban took cheap shots all through his hockey career. Why did anyone think he’d stop after he retired?’” Another said, “‘Maybe they need to pack a lizzo sized lunch.’ PK Subban. F*ck you, PK. Black women aren’t a punchline for you.”

“Maybe they need to pack a lizzo sized lunch.” PK Subban. Fuck you, PK. Black women aren’t a punchline for you.

Check out some more reactions below.

The disgusting people enjoying PK Subban’s comment about Lizzo are exactly WHY he should have kept his mouth shut.

I’ve been a PK fan and supporter from day one – but his recent comments on Pride and now this? I don’t see him the same way anymore. This is not okay. pic.twitter.com/1Y2lqow49G

“Lizzo sized lunch”.

Gross comment by PK Subban @espn

NHL growing the game for women:

– Biz saying women only watch hockey for attractive men

– Phil Esposito calling a Leafs fan (a woman) fat while on-air.

– PK Subban fat-shaming Lizzo

But Jack Edwards is still flamed for his comments about Pat Maroon. Give me a break.

— Lauren (@BOSBruinsHC) May 3, 2023

Just want to watch hockey without some panelists making a dig at women. First it was biz saying women only watch hockey for the men & now pk Subban saying a Lizzo size lunch. Ugh

Lizzo is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
