Tom Brady wouldn’t choose a football path for his children, says there’d be ‘too many crazy expectations’ – CBSSports.com

June 10, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

The NFL is no stranger to family dynasties. On the defensive side of the ball, the Matthews family has spawned generations of pass rushers and other stars. Meanwhile, the Manning family has produced three legendary quarterbacks: Archie, Peyton and Eli. And there may be another on the way in short order.

But what of the NFL’s most decorated player of all time in Tom Brady? He has a 15-year-old son, Jack, who is a quarterback, so could he follow in his father’s footsteps? If Brady has it his way, he’d like to see him go in a different direction than pursue an NFL career as a quarterback.

“I hope he finds the things in his life that allow him to get up every day to be internally motivated to work hard at something that he loves to do,” Brady told ESPN when asked specifically about his hopes and concerns regarding his son pursuing football. “A lot of it I wouldn’t choose for him to do that because there’s too many crazy expectations that people would put on him. Most of them probably very unfair actually.”

Brady isn’t wrong in his assessment that there’d be seismic expectations with his son possibly pursuing a football career, particularly at the quarterback position. He’d naturally be compared to Brady in a similar fashion to how USC commit Bronny James is compared to his father LeBron James as he turns himself into an NBA prospect. Both Brady and James are in the pantheon of their respective sports and setting that type of bar for the next generation is, as Brady put it, very unfair.

Brady continued by saying that whatever any of his children — including his other son Benny or daughter Vivi — decide to do he’ll be there to support them similarly to how his parents supported him with his football career.

“I was very lucky to find something that I love to do,” Brady said. “I grew up in the Bay Area and I looked up to those great 49er teams of the ’80s and ’90s and they were a big part of the reason why I ended up falling in love with the sport. I had parents there to support my football journey by bringing me to camps and bringing me to throw at the football field late at night and early in the morning and bringing me to workouts to support my dream. That’s what we as parents should do — support our children’s dreams whatever they may be.”

He added: “It doesn’t need to be sports. It could be whatever. It could be performing arts. It could be music. It could be science. It could be law. It could be medicine. So, I think that’s part of being a parent. It’s supporting your kid’s dreams. Now that I’ve got more time on my hands, I’m very much looking forward to doing that as well.”

Brady reiterated this week that his playing days are over, so he will have plenty of time to zero in his focus on helping his children pursue whatever their ambitions are.

Billie Eilish believed U2 were from Scranton due to ‘The Office’ joke

June 9, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Billie Eilish has revealed that up until last year, she believed U2 were from Scranton, Pennsylvania – and not their actual stomping grounds of Dublin, Ireland – due to a joke on The Office.

U2 formed in 1976 in Dublin, while Eilish was born in 2001. “Starting to watch The Office at a really young age, I almost didn’t understand any reference whatsoever,” she explained on a recent episode of the Office Ladies podcast, which is hosted by stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey.

Eilish explained that because Steve Carell’s Michael Scott said so many things wrong over the course of The Office, she got them wrong too “because I learned them from Michael Scott.”

The “worst” one came courtesy of season four episode ‘Goodbye Toby Part One‘, which sees Scott ask Jim Halpert (John Krasinski): “Hey, what’s the group that was from Scranton that made it big? Was that U2?” with Halpert replying, “Yes”.

“There’s no pause, there’s no laugh,” Eilish said (via Consequence). “Honestly, in my head, I thought Jim thought, ‘Oh, that’s a stupid question’ because obviously, they’re the band that made it big from Scranton… I thought that was the vibe.”

Eilish went on to reveal that she only found out that U2 were Irish when Bono sent her flowers.

“This last June, we were in Ireland. I’m in my hotel and I get flowers delivered to my room. It has a little letter on it and it’s this really, really sweet letter and it says ‘From Bono,’” Eilish said before revealing that the note said, “Welcome to my hometown”.

“I was like, ‘Why would he send me something in Ireland? What does this have to do with him?’ [because] U2 is from Scranton,” she added. “I kept asking everyone, ‘What is Bono doing sending me flowers all the way across the world? Why would he do that?’ They were like, ‘Billie, what are you talking about? They’re Irish.’ I blame John for this.”

Billie Eilish is a self-confessed superfan of The Office. In 2020, she featured in a 12-part documentary, An Oral History Of The Office, alongside several of the show’s stars. In 2019, it was revealed that the cast of the show had personally cleared samples used in ‘My Strange Addiction’ from Eilish’s debut album,  ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’. The track features dialogue from the episode ‘Threat Level Midnight’.

Meanwhile, to celebrate his 60th birthday, U2 vocalist Bono shared a playlist of songs that “saved” his life, including Eilish’s ‘Everything I Wanted’.

I need this crazy Fantastic Four cast rumor to be real

June 9, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might be the most important thing happening in the MCU right now, but we can’t ignore the amazing Fantastic Four cast rumors that keep popping up. One of them is especially exciting, and I will be so angry if it’s not real. This would be such a tremendous surprise for fans that I can’t even begin to discuss it until I tell you that massive spoilers will follow below if this leak is indeed accurate.

The new uptick in Fantastic Four cast rumors might suggest we’re getting close to discovering who will play the First Family in Marvel’s big reboot. In the past few weeks, we heard Adam Driver might be a favorite for the Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic role.

Then reports listed a few potential candidates for the Sue Storm/Invisible Woman part, with Mila Kunis on the list.

While both Ben Grimm/The Thing and Johnny Storm/Human Torch are also important Fantastic Four team members, haven’t had that many rumors detailing potential cast choices for these two superheroes.

But then a mind-blowing rumor about The Thing dropped over the weekend.

Mila Kunis could play The Thing in Fantastic Four

Marvel insider MyTimeToShineHello has provided plenty of MCU scoops in recent years, many of which have been accurate. After indicating that Antonio Banderas might play Galactus in Fantastic Four, she elaborated on the cast rumors claiming Mila Kunis might be Marvel’s choice for Sue Storm. And I couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of Marvel having a woman play The Thing.

That’s what the leaker claims, saying that Marvel is looking at both male and female actors for the role. And Mila Kunis is one of them:

They are looking at Jewish actors, both male AND female for The Thing in Fantastic Four. Mila Kunis is one of them

— MyTimeToShineHello (@MyTimeToShineH)

That would be one way to make the MCU Fantastic Four reboot stand out after Fox failed to turn the franchise into a successful franchise.

Many people will oppose the idea, as we’ve seen plenty of resistance to female lead characters in MCU adventures so far. But that doesn’t change the fact that transforming a woman into The Thing would be an amazing feat for Marvel.

The same leaker indicated that Kunis isn’t going to be Sue Storm. It’s someone else. Someone who supposedly already passed on the role but may have been drawn back in.

They have someone for Sue only reason I’m not saying who is because she already passed once so it’s not final. I’m being very careful with this one

— MyTimeToShineHello (@MyTimeToShineH)

Kunis denies being in Fantastic Four

Surprisingly, Mila Kunis actually addressed rumors about her would-be role in Marvel’s Fantastic Four reboot a few days ago. Per The Wrap, Kunis said on The Late Late Show with James Cordon on Thursday that she isn’t going to be in the picture.

The actress addressed photos of her and Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman having lunch together recently. “We went out to a deli and had lunch together,” Kunis said, “and the next day I was somehow in Fantastic Four.”

This is Mila’s response in a new interview by the way: pic.twitter.com/wU4nRZuazH https://t.co/prVeri5vIN

The actress wouldn’t be the first to deny involvement in one of Marvel’s highly anticipated MCU stories. That’s what we expect from all actors Marvel might be talking to about MCU roles.

“I am not in Fantastic Four,” she said, without stopping there. “I know who is,” she teased without revealing any names. She added that she didn’t want to get in trouble with The Mouse. “So none of you will find out,” Kunis laughed.

That won’t stop me from hoping that The Thing will go to a woman rather than a man for this Fantastic Four lineup.

Hopefully, we’ll soon learn the Fantastic Four cast. Marvel’s Comic-Con 2023 presentation could deliver that sort of announcement, but I’m only speculating.

BGT fans demand show is ‘cancelled’ after ‘joke of a final’ sees Viggo Venn win

June 8, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

BRITAIN’S Got Talent fans have demanded the show is ‘cancelled’ after a ‘joke of a final’ saw Viggo Venn win.

The Norwegian comedian triumphed over young dancer Lilliana Clifton and teen magician Cillian O’Connor in Sunday’s final.

But before the result was announced, viewers were left stunned after a surprise guest performance from Susan Boyle.

The finale also proved to be chaotic and dramatic as the audience could be heard booing within seconds of the show starting.

Viggo’s name being announced seemed to receive a mixed response from the show audience, while many Britain’s Got Talent viewers at home were absolutely raging at the result.

Viggo’s final performance had consisted of him dancing around the stage to Daft Punk hit One More Time in a hi-vis jacket, as well as climbing into a balloon that covered his whole body.

Many felt it didn’t show as much talent as other acts, such as dancer Malakai Bayoh and young singer Musa Motha.

Taking to Twitter, one raged: “Can’t believe it! #CancelBGT #BGT #BGT2023 #BGTFinal #BritainsGotTalent @BGT.”

Another added: “malakai, Lillian, gettho kids have been robbed by an unfunny “comedian” and an idiot with stupid hair.”

A third tweeted: “Well that’s the last ever series of BGT. How ridiculous was the winner compared to the quality of the other finalists. Voter system must have been hacked….”

Meanwhile another fumed: “What an absolute joke of a final!! If it wasn’t bad enough with a man in his pants making an eejit of himself prancing around the stage, a fool wearing a hi-vis jacket wins it.

“I just CAN’T believe people voted for that I wouldn’t call that talent!??”

A fellow enraged viewer asked: “Is this a joke? What a load of….[angry face emoji] The real talent has missed out big time here! Awful!”

However, others loved the joyous, frivolous nature of Viggo’s act, with one writing: “Congratulations to @ViggoVenn a well deserved winner the others didn’t stand a chance.”

Another wrote: “You want mooore! Worthy winner @ViggoVenn.”

A third tweeted: “YES @ViggoVenn 100% deserved! Already looking at booking tickets to your Edinburgh Fringe show! Literally made the UK smile so much!! Absolute legend!”

Meanwhile a fourth shared: “I so called that the other day! Viggo Venn is a deserved winner for bringing pure joy to the theatre and still goes on when not required to do so. How Malakai didn’t get a top 3 spot though, I’ll never know.”

Throughout the show the judges were left red-faced with a number of blunders – from Simon Cowell being left unable to speak, to Alesha Dixon’s ring breaking live on air.
