Pedro Pascal Stars In Hilarious (Fake) Mario Kart x HBO Trailer

June 21, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Gif: SNL

When I see news that Saturday Night Live has released another sketch dedicated to the Mario Kart franchise, I get flashbacks.

I think we all remember the frankly quite frightening episode of Saturday Night Live back in 2021 where the world’s second-richest man and currently the world’s most punishing poster Elon Musk hosted. It wasn’t just unfunny because he was there (although his first-time-speaking-to-humans delivery definitely didn’t help), but it almost felt like every sketch he appeared in was specifically designed in a lab to trigger a fight-or-flight response to anyone who watched.

In particular, we think of one bit. The Wario sketch. A sketch with a pretty funny starting concept (Wario is on trial for killing Mario in a karting accident), and truly piss-poor execution. Weird accents, Fanfiction.net-esque twist, and just generally bare-minimum comedy. When you hear “Mario Kart comedy sketch” and this comes to mind, one can’t help but tremble with fear and experience severe acid reflux.

With that in mind, I think I can comfortably say that SNL has redeemed itself. Its newest attempt at satirising Mario Kart in the show’s most recent episode with Pedro Pascal is a triumph.

Actor Pedro Pascal is best known recently for his portrayal of Joel in HBO’s TV adaptation of The Last of Us. In his first time hosting the long-running sketch comedy show, Pascal addresses the many, many “fancams” that are made of him online in Fancam Assembly, where Pascal plays the principal of a school where students won’t stop making TikTok fancams of him. It rules. As well as that, he did something that many thought was impossible: star in a Mario Kart sketch that wasn’t cringe.

HBO Mario Kart Trailer – SNL

Playing on the lack of narrative in Mario Kart and the deep and enthralling narrative of HBO’s The Last of Us, HBO’s Mario Kart is genuinely a well-executed sketch based on a simple and timely concept. What if something that is traditionally light-hearted and fun was actually serious and gritty? We’ve seen it done before, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done well. Visually, it looks ridiculous yet high quality. The fake review quotes got me. Me likey!

G/O Media may get a commission

Of course, comedy is subjective, and things that make me go “tee hee” might not make you go “hee haw”. You might’ve even thought the Musk Wario sketch and thought it was the funniest thing you’ve ever seen in your life, and that’s okay. Legally, I cannot stop you from feeling this way, though certainly I wish you didn’t.

But me personally? I think the HBO’s Mario Kart sketch knocks it out of the park.

Crawford: Fight With Spence Sells Itself, We Don’t Need To Act Crazy – Boxing News

June 21, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford does not see a reason to act out of character in order to promote his upcoming undisputed showdown with WBC, IBF, WBA champion Errol Spence.

The contest will headline a Showtime Pay-Per-View card on July 20th, from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The fight has been in the works for some time – and finally became a reality when both boxers officially announced that a deal had been reached last month.

Crawford sees no reason act wild and have unnecessary trash-talking between him and Spence.

“I think this fight sells itself,” Crawford said to The MMA Hour. “I don’t think that me nor Errol got to go out and do things that are not in our character just to sell the fight.

“When you look at the fight, you say, ‘OK, you’ve got two undefeated, top-five pound-for-pound fighters in their prime, going head to head for the undisputed welterweight championship of the world. Two action-packed fighters.’ What more do you need?

“You don’t need me going out there, acting all crazy. You don’t need him going out there, acting all crazy just to sell a fight. The fight’s going to sell itself because everybody knows what they’re getting come fight night.”

Crawford has been out of the ring since December, when he knocked out David Avanesyan in the sixth round. For his part, Spence hit the ring last April, when he stopped Yordenis Ugas in ten rounds to unify the WBA, WBC, IBF titles.

Their share two common opponents in Kell Brook and Shawn Porter. Both hold stoppage wins over Brook, although Crawford faced the Sheffield boxer at the tail-end of his career. Spence won a tough twelve round split decision over Porter in 2019. Two years later, Crawford, who also had to deal with a lot of resistance in the fight, stopped Porter in the tenth. Porter retired after the fight.

Crazy Town’s Shifty Shellshock Arrested for DUI Days After Bandmate Fight

June 21, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Crazy Town vocalist Seth Binzer (aka Shifty Shellshock) was arrested for DUI on Tuesday (April 25th), a couple days after engaging in a headline-making bloody fist fight with his bandmate Bobby Reeves.

As previously reported, Binzer pummeled co-vocalist Reeves following a disastrous show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in which Binzer failed to show up until the end of the gig. Video footage showed Binzer repeatedly punching Reeves while accusing him of stealing his money. Crazy Town were subsequently kicked off the “Nu Metal Madness Tour 2” by headliners Hed PE.

Now, TMZ has reported that the 48-year-old Binzer was detained in Myrtle Beach on Tuesday after the police received a call about a possible drunk driver in a black SUV who seemed to be falling asleep at the wheel. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Binzer at the wheel with visible signs of impairment. He was given a filed sobriety test, which indicated that he was impaired while driving. He was then arrested and taken to the Myrtle Beach jail.

Heavy Consequence accessed the police report, as prepared by Officer C.J. Contino, and it reads as follows:

“On April 25th, 2023, at approximately 1330 hours I responded to the area of 33d Ave N and Kings Kwy in reference to a possible drunk driver. A be on the lookout (BOLO) came over from North Myrtle Beach about a black in color SUV, with a California tag, traveling into the city limits of myrtle beach, supposedly, all over the road failing to maintain its lane of travel. A short time later, myrtle beach dispatch received a call about a black in color SUV, with a California tag, in the area of 82nd Pky and Kings Hwy. The caller was stating that the driver was falling asleep behind the wheel at the red light and, while driving, the vehicle was having trouble staying in its lane of travel. Officer Mackin was first to locate the vehicle when the call came in. Officer Mackin stated he observed the vehicle driving and showed signs of the driver being impaired. I spoke to the offender as he was in the driver seat at the time of the traffic stop and nobody else was in the vehicle. The offender had very lethargic movement and slurred speech. Due to the offender showing signs of impairment and officer Mackin’s observation, I asked the offender to take the standard field sobriety test (SFST). The offender stated he would take the test. At the conclusion of the test there were enough visible clues to indicate the offender was impaired while driving. He was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and he was transported to the Myrtle Beach jail.”

A description next to an accompanying mugshot (see above) describes Binzer’s blood-alcohol level and status as “less than .10, second offense.”

Binzer, who has publicly battled drug addiction on such TV shows as Celebrity Rehab and Sober House, was previously arrested last year in Los Angeles for DUI. He was also arrested in 2012 for battery and cocaine possession.

In kicking Crazy Town off the tour, Hed PE frontman Jared Gomes explained, “Seth needs help … we can’t just sit by while he’s on the road battling demons to the death.” The “Nu Metal Madness Tour 2” (minus Crazy Town) continues with Hed PE, Adema, and Tantric through a May 13th show in Garden Crove, California. Tickets are available here.

Crazy Town are best known for their 2001 No. 1 hit “Butterfly.” The music video can be seen below.

First ever Partygate video revealed as Tories drink, dance and laugh at Covid rules – Mirror Online

June 20, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

The Tories face the threat of new Partygate police probe as previously unseen footage shows staff boozing, dancing and mocking lockdown laws at the height of Covid.

A bombshell video exposes for the first time how officials joked about their lockdown rule-bending Christmas bash at the Conservative Campaign Headquarters in London.

At least 24 revellers were there and, shockingly, they include two named on ex-PM Boris Johnson’s controversial resignation honours list.

In the exclusive footage, two dancers even twirl past a sign saying “Please keep your distance”.

It will infuriate families who lost relatives in Covid and will reignite criticism of Mr Johnson just days after he was slammed for misleading MPs over parties at No10.

This knees-up was held on December 14, 2020 – as large swathes of the UK were barred from socialising indoors.

A widely seen picture of the bash formed part of a Met Police probe last year. The force had only still images to go on and found insufficient evidence of law breaking – and no fines were issued.

But the damning video throws new light on the affair and the Met says it will assess whether it could be material to an inquiry.

Labour’s deputy leader Angela Rayner said: “Revellers openly mocked the rules the British people followed. The Tories think it’s one rule for them and one rule for everyone else.

“Instead of forcing them to face the consequences, Rishi Sunak has caved into Boris Johnson and chosen to reward them with honours. It’s a sickening insult.”

The party was organised by the campaign team of then London Mayor candidate Shaun Bailey – now Lord Bailey after Mr Johnson made him a peer in his honours list. Mr Bailey had left the party before the video was taken.

It features Ben Mallet – awarded an OBE in Mr Johnson’s list. Mr Mallet, filmed holding a glass of red wine and wearing festive braces, was the Tories’ campaign director for the 2021 London mayoral election.

He now runs the campaign of Moz Hossain, who wants to stand in next year’s mayoral race.

The footage shows two revellers knock over wine glasses as they spiral into a table laden with buffet food. The unsteady pair twirl each other around to the sounds of The Pogues’ Fairytale of New York.

It is the first time footage has emerged of one of the rule-breaking parties in Westminster. In the video, which shows a karaoke machine with flashing lights, partygoers joke about how they are breaking the rules.

When one man sees he is being recorded, he says: “Oh Christ.” Then another asks: “Are you filming this?” Someone else responds: “It’s for party, erm, party use.”

A man then laughs after declaring: “As long as we are not streaming that we’re, like, bending the rules.”

It was just days after the party that Mr Johnson announced even tighter restrictions which meant people in the areas worst hit by Covid could not see their loved ones over Christmas.

And the footage emerged after a dramatic week in which Partygate finally caught up with the ex-PM. In a damning report on Thursday, the Privileges Committee found he had repeatedly misled MPs over lockdown-busting gatherings.

It also accused him of being “complicit” in a “campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation” against the committee’s seven members.

The committee said Mr Johnson would have faced a 90-day suspension from Parliament if he had not resigned in anger before the publication of its report.

The Daily Mirror published a picture of the gathering in December 2021 showing staff members and volunteers in close quarters, raising glasses of wine. A buffet is seen on trestle tables around the room.

A Metropolitan Police investigation concluded last November that the “photo by itself is not sufficient evidence on which to assess that an offence had been committed”.

A spokesman for the Met said at the time: “The investigation reviewed all the material thoroughly and, after careful consideration, it was determined that there was insufficient evidence to disprove the version of events provided by attendees to a standard that would meet the threshold required.”

After the picture emerged, Mr Bailey apologised “unreservedly” for the event and resigned as chair of the London Assembly’s police and crime committee.

He tweeted: “I gave a speech to my team to thank them… it was a serious error of judgment at a time when Londoners were making immense sacrifices to keep us all safe and I regret it wholeheartedly.”

The new footage comes days after the long-awaited UK Covid-19 Inquiry began.

A Conservative Party spokesman said yesterday: “Senior CCHQ staff became aware of an unauthorised social gathering in the basement of Matthew Parker Street organised by the Bailey campaign on the evening of 14th December 2020.

“Formal disciplinary action was taken against the four CCHQ staff who were seconded to the Bailey campaign.”

A spokesman for the Shaun Bailey campaign said: “This is an old story. We repeatedly apologised for this event at the time. It was subject to a nearly year-long police investigation. The matter is closed.”
