Team India slipped into a precarious situation in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final against Australia as their top order collapsed meekly on Day 2 (Thursday, June 8) at the Oval.

Australia resumed the day with an overnight score of 327/3. Steve Smith reached his century and Travis Head breached the 150-run mark quickly by hitting a flurry of boundaries in the first couple of overs.

Mohammed Siraj (4/108) finally got a breakthrough for India by dismissing Head (163) in the seventh over of the second day. His bowling partners then backed up his efforts and managed to bundle out Australia for 469 just after lunch.

Team India got off to a brisk start as Rohit Sharma (15) and Shubman Gill (13) put on a 30-run partnership in six overs. Pat Cummins pinned Sharma in front of the stumps in the sixth over and delivered a massive blow to India. Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara departed identically, leaving the balls which hit the off stump.

Mitchell Starc sent Virat Kohli (14) back to the pavilion in the 19th over to reduce India to 71/4. With his side in a dire position, Ravindra Jadeja (48 off 51 balls) played a counter-attacking knock and built a 71-run partnership with Ajinkya Rahane (29*). However, Nathan Lyon dismissed him with a classic off-spinner at the fag end of the day to dent the opposition side further.

At stumps, Rahana held the fort for his side in the company of Srikar Bharat (5*), with 151/5 on the scoreboard. Fans enjoyed the cricketing action that unfolded on Day 2 of the WTC 2023 final. They expressed their views by sharing hilarious memes on Instagram and Twitter.

The death of Johnny Ruffo at 35 has left Australia reeling.

Just weeks before the beloved star lost his years-long battle with brain cancer, he shared a final moving photo to Instagram.

The image from July – the last single snap shared by the former Home and Away star – showed him smiling bravely from hospital as he received treatment.

Ruffo’s stoic spirit was clear to see in the image, in which he displayed a thumbs-up for the camera.

He had a colourful favourite phrase that he used liberally on social media – “f*** cancer”.

And that moving, final photo of his was fittingly accompanied by three boxing glove emojis.

“Back to reality”, the former X Factor star had captioned the image.

In the weeks before that hospital photo was published, Ruffo had shared highlights from a romantic getaway in Queenstown, New Zealand, with his girlfriend Tahnee Sims.

The trip – which involved a helicopter ride and scenic spa dates – was to be one of his final adventures.

Ruffo’s death was confirmed via a statement shared to his Instagram page on November 10.

“It is with a heavy heart that today we had to farewell our beloved Johnny,” the statement read.

“Surrounded by his partner Tahnee and family, Johnny went peacefully with the support of some incredible nurses & doctors.

“He was a very talented, charming and sometimes cheeky boy.

“Johnny was very determined and had a strong will.

“He battled all the way to the end and fought as hard as he could.

“Such a beautiful soul with so much more to give.

“We all love you Johnny and will remember you for all the joy you brought to our lives. Rest easy.”

In 2022, Ruffo confirmed that his brain cancer was terminal, but said he was committed to battling the disease as best he could and to living life to the fullest.

“I understand that the cancer is terminal, but you know, I’m going to do everything I can and I am currently doing everything I can to kick its a***,” he told 7Life in 2022.

“I feel like s***. I’m always fatigued, just walking up a set of stairs.

“By the time I get to the top I just want to have a sleep.”

Reflecting on his initial diagnosis in 2017, Ruffo said: “I felt like I was just kicking goals and I just couldn’t miss, and then all of a sudden the roof came crashing down.

“I mean, I was like ‘goddammit’. Everything just came to a grinding halt.

“And it was going so well — I felt as though everything that I wanted to achieve, I was achieving.”

Despite her celebrated career, Barbra Streisand said that her performances have been shadowed by a fear of forgetting her lines — a fear that took root during her early days in Broadway’s “Funny Girl.”

She said the off-script, on-stage behavior of her “Funny Girl” co-star Sydney Chaplin, Charlie Chaplin’s son, drove her into therapy and instilled a deep-seated anxiety about live performances.

“He kept talking to me on stage under his breath. Not looking at me in the eyes. You know, looking, like, at my forehead or my hair or something. And talking. Like a crazy person,” she told “CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King.

“And it was driving me insane,” she said. “That threw me so off that I thought, ‘What, what am I, what is my next line?'”

“I never lost that, that fear of performing, fear of forgetting my lines,” Streisand said. 

The Oscar-winning actress and singer details her anxiety in her new memoir “My Name Is Barbra,” which is being released on Tuesday. Her struggle with stage fright was so intense that after forgetting lyrics during a 1967 concert in Central Park, Streisand avoided public performances for nearly three decades.

Her new book also details her childhood. With the loss of her father when she was just 15 months old and facing discouragement from her mother, she credits her pursuit of acting as a way to find a sense of belonging and love.

“Even though my mother said, ‘You’ll never make it as an actress. You know, you’re not pretty enough,’ or whatever, I thought, because I used to read movie magazines, right, and kind of dream, ‘Is it, wouldn’t it be wonderful?'” she said.

Her dreams and dedication have indeed paid off. Streisand’s Malibu home has been personally curated, from her legendary garden to what she calls “the mall,” featuring unique shops and an antique clothes room.

“I’m so finicky, and when I love something, I don’t care how much it costs,” she said.

Streisand recently celebrated her 25-year marriage to actor James Brolin, who said he asked Streisand to marry him three times before she agreed. 

And Brolin shared a personal detail about their early relationship: “I had been literally — it’s a wild word, but I had been celibate for three years saying, ‘Who needs this?'” After two previous marriages, he said he wanted to avoid “getting involved in a lousy situation.” 

During an anniversary celebration, Brolin read her a letter, saying, “You know someone is right for you if you love to be with them all the time. And when I go, when I finally go, I will love you then.” 

“Home is not a place. Home is a person,” he added.

As for who could play Streisand in a potential future film, she suggested she doesn’t want to think about it yet. 

“I don’t know of anyone who can,” she said.
