Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden dies aged 72 as bandmate David Coverdale pays tribute to ‘genuinely funny and gifted man’

Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden died aged 72 on August 24, it was announced on Friday. 

His bandmate and lead vocalist, David Coverdale shared the sad news to social media and paid tribute to the ‘genuinely funny and gifted man.’

David, 71, wrote: ‘Good Morning…I’ve just woken up to the awful news that my old friend and former Snake Bernie Marsden has passed. 

‘My sincere thoughts & prayers to his beloved family, friends & fans. A genuinely funny, gifted man, whom I was honored to know & share a stage with RIP, Bernie XXX’. 

Bernie was one of the founding members of Whitesnake, playing with the band from 1978 until 1982.

He co-wrote some of the bands best known hits including Fool For Your Loving and Here I Go Again, the latter reached six million US radio plays in 2018. 

David later added: ‘Good morning, afternoon & good evening, wherever you are on this sad day…stay safe & well. 

‘Take good care out there…& know you are appreciated & loved… Bernie…once a Snake…always a Snake.

‘Meditation, prayers & reflection time, brothers & sisters of the Snake…a lot to reflect on today…love you all dearly…have the best day you can…XXX’

Bernie played on their first EP and first five albums as well as one live album: Snakebite, Trouble, Lovehunter, Ready And Willing, Live in The Heart Of The City, Come ‘An Get It and Saints And Sinners. 

After he left Whitesnake he formed Bernie Marsden’s SOS, before releasing two albums with Alaska and four with Moody Marsden Band. 

The musician teamed up again with David in 2014 to record a remake of Whitesnake song Trouble for David’s album Shine. 

Bernie has also enjoyed a very long and successful solo career, his last album Trios was released in 2022.

Blake Lively never seems to tire of teasing husband Ryan Reynolds and proved it with a hilarious post in her Instagram Stories Monday. 

The actress’ latest stunt was to badger the Spirited star, 46, about his status as a sex symbol.

The Betty Booze founder, 36, grabbed a shot of Ryan sipping a beverage and looking cool wearing a T-shirt, khakis and dark sunglasses for the funny clip.

The Rhythm Section star then proceeded to scroll the lyrics from Right Said Fred’s I’m Too Sexy across his chest. 

‘Too sexy for my shirt. So sexy it hurts. And I’m too sexy for Milan, too sexy for Milan, New York,’ the note read.

The Canadian-American actor was declared People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2010. 

Besides teasing him, the A Simple Favor actress has entered into a healthy competition with her husband in the world of sports.

Ryan famously bought one-half of the Wrexham AFC football team in Wales with fellow actor Rob McElhenney. 

Their trials and tears were featured in the Emmy nominated documentary series Welcome to Wrexham.

Ryan and Rob are now the proud owners of not only the men’s team, but the women’s team as well. 

The women’s squad won the Genero Adran North championship game in March and were promoted to semi-professional status. 

Although Ryan admitted on Jimmy Kimmell Live when Rob was guest-hosting that Blake initially opposed purchasing the sports teams.

Since then, the mother of four who shares James, 8, Inez, 6, and Betty, 3 and a son born in February with The Proposal star, has softened her stance.

Blake is also sponsoring the teams via her Betty Buzz sparkling drinks company.

Both men and women will wear training tops with the company name, according o the Mirror. 

The second season of Welcome to Wrexham debuts on FX September 12 and stream on Hulu and Disney+ internationally the following day. 

Both Blake and Ryan have several film projects lined up once the ongoing actors and writers strikes are settled.

Blake is set to star in and produce the upcoming crime drama The Husband’s Secret and  the drama It Ends with Us, based on Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel.

Ryan will suit up again for Deadpool 3, as well as the comedy Boy Band with his Spirited co-star Will Ferrell.

Blake Lively teases husband Ryan Reynolds for being ‘too sexy’ with hilarious clip on social media

The Florida governor’s debate appearance may have been memorable in all the wrong ways.

Elon Musk is back in the driving seat of a Tesla Cybertruck, only this time the vehicle is not a beta prototype like the last time he drove the electric truck.

Tesla’s CEO shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) showing him behind the wheel of what he called a “production candidate” Cybertruck.

“Just drove the production candidate Cybertruck at Tesla Giga Texas!” Musk tweeted. After one of his followers commented that Musk’s smile behind the wheel says it all, Tesla’s head honcho replied, “I think this is our best product ever.”

That is obviously great to hear if you’re among those who have reportedly placed 1.9 million Cybertruck pre-orders or are simply rooting for Tesla’s first electric pickup truck and for EVs in general. 

That being said, Musk stopped short of revealing more details about the Cybertruck, despite many requests from followers, most of whom were curious about the start of deliveries.

Tesla last month announced that it had built the first Cybertruck at Giga Texas and later clarified that the vehicle was a “production candidate” truck, according to Electrek. 

A production candidate vehicle is hopefully what EV makers also call a “release candidate” and traditional automakers typically refer to as a “production validation” vehicle. 

Whatever the designation, it’s good news because all these terms designate the same thing: the final version of a vehicle that is made (almost) entirely on the production line – unlike the hand-built beta prototypes used for development testing.

Given Musk’s announcement, the Tesla Cybertruck vehicles we’ve seen in recent days being shipped and tested across the US are likely production validation units too.

This preview of the production validation Cybertruck coming from Musk bodes well for the start of initial deliveries. Tesla’s CEO announced on the Q1 2023 earnings call in April that a Cybertruck handover event would be held toward “the end of the third quarter,” which likely means September 2023. Tesla may actually surprise everyone by being on schedule this time.

If that proves to be the case, Tesla will probably announce the delivery event soon. The EV maker will likely use it to release long-awaited information about the Cybertruck, including final specifications and pricing.

After a wait of almost four years since the unveiling of the original Cybertruck concept, it looks like the world’s most hyped EV ever is finally ready to take off. These are very exciting times for Tesla and EV enthusiasts.
