Crazy stat shows impact Szoboszlai has made as Henderson replacement – Liverpool FC – This Is Anfield

September 26, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Dominik Szoboszlai has become a firm favourite among Liverpool fans already since his move from Leipzig, taking over from Jordan Henderson.

Since his £60 million switch from the Bundesliga over the summer, Szoboszlai has emerged as a key player in Jurgen Klopp‘s midfield.

The 22-year-old has played the full 90 minutes in all five games so far, scoring once, with Liverpool unbeaten in their start to the Premier League campaign.

He has made the transition appear seamless, with many of the belief that he is an upgrade on Henderson in his right-sided midfield role.

With the captain now plying his trade in the Saudi Pro League – where a recent viral clip of Fabinho getting nutmegged at walking pace showed the standard – Szoboszlai has taken up the mantle with ease.

The Hungarian is, of course, 11 years Henderson’s junior, but one statistic has summed up the all-action impact he has made.

In his first five starts for Liverpool, Szoboszlai has contested 50 duels, per FotMob, which is 30 more than Henderson in his first five league starts last season.

Put simply, a duel is defined by Opta as a “50-50 contest between two players of opposing sides in the match,” which can include tackles, dribbles and aerial challenges.

Szoboszlai has won 24 of his duels (48%), either on the ground or in the air, while Henderson won 11 of his attempted 20 (55%), with a higher success rate.

But the sheer multitude he has been involved in shows the influence Szoboszlai is having on the Reds regaining their intensity – which was so lacking last season.

In the 2-1 win at Newcastle, Szoboszlai was involved in a remarkable 20 duels – as many as Henderson in the meetings with Fulham, Man United, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Brighton last season combined.

It has been an outstanding start from the new No. 8, and the hope will be that he can go from strength to strength in the coming months.

This should be a sign of things to come from Henderson’s successor in midfield.

September 26, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Neil Young and an expanded line-up of Crazy Horse played the first of two shows last night [September 20, 2023] at the Roxy.

The two shows are part of a benefit to mark the 50th anniversary of the Los Angeles club – which Young opened with the Santa Monica Flyers. Their shows were recorded and released as the 2018 live album, Roxy: Tonight’s the Night Live.

The line-up included Micah Nelson, who had originally been brought in to deputise for Nils Lofgren – who was due to be on tour with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. However, since the current leg of the tour has been put on hold while Springsteen is treated for peptic ulcer disease, Logfren was able to play at the Roxy alongside Nelson, Billy Talbot and Ralph Molina.

Young had previously teased the show on his Instagram page, which includes a snippet of the band rehearsing “Down By The River“.

The show, meanwhile, found Young and the Horse playing two albums in full: Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and Tonight’s The Night. The former is the only Crazy Horse album Young recorded with the Danny Whitten-led line-up of the band, while the latter is in part a tribute to Whitten, who died months before the album was recorded in Autumn 1973.

You can watch fan footage below of some classic Young cuts from the show.

“Tired Eyes”

“Cinnamon Girl”

“Down By The River”

Riddhima Kapoor shares birthday wish from fan page of Ranbir Kapoor’s ex Katrina Kaif, netizens say ‘this is so funny’

September 25, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor’s daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni celebrated her 43rd birthday on Friday, September 15. She was flooded with wishes from the entire Kapoor khandaan and her friends, which she shared on her Instagram. Among all her Stories, one that caught the maximum attention was Riddhima sharing the birthday wish from her brother Ranbir Kapoor’s ex Katrina Kaif’s fan account.

The screenshot of the same was shared on the popular Bollywood subreddit BollyBlindsNGossip with the caption, “Was this really accidental? Or purposefull? Or is she subtly confiming that things are settled between her mom and Katrina?”. Seeral people called it “so funny” in the comments sections.

One netizen even wote, “Not to stir the pot but I have noticed that Riddhima doesn’t share any of Alia’s venture…she did not share a single post about Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani”. Countering them, another person commented, “Riddhima liked almost all of Alia’s Rarkpk insta post. Riddhima even posted a story for it. But as usual people like to ignore it as it wouldn’t suit their narrative. And they like to stir up fake imagimary stories.”

It was in April when Neetu Kapoor apparently took a dig at Ranbir’s exes Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif when she shared a post that read, “Just because he dated you for 7 years, it doesn’t mean he will marry you. My uncle studied medicine for 6 years, now he is a DJ.” A couple of days later, Katrina’s mom Suzanne Turquotte posted a cryptic note that read, “I was raised to treat the janitor with the same respect as the CEO.”

After another couple of days, Suzanna added a caption to her post, which read, “I was looking through old photos on my phone and came across this. I rather liked it so I posted it. But it is in no way aimed at anyone or at any comments that may have been said on social media.”

These apparent digs, made by the veteran actress Neetu and Katrina’s mother aimed at each other had netizens thinking that something isn’t right between Ranbir Kapoor’s mom and his ex-girlfriend.

Howell and Robinson shine in Commanders’ crazy comeback win – NBC4 Washington

September 25, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

DENVER — There must be something in the Colorado air that makes comebacks that much sweeter.

The Commanders dug themselves quite a hole early on in Sunday’s game against the Broncos, trailing 21-3 about halfway through the second quarter. From that point, however, Washington’s sleepy defense woke up and Sam Howell led a potent offensive attack to a 35-33 come-from-behind win.

With the win, Washington moves to 2-0 for the first time since 2011.

To best understand the flow of this game, it was all Broncos early. Denver scored touchdowns on their first three offensive possessions. At one point Broncos QB Russell Wilson had 125 passing yards on just three completions.

Washington looked lost. Right until they weren’t.

The defense turned things around, forcing a fumble and a punt before halftime, then sandwiching that with a forced punt and interception after halftime.

And Howell got hot, too. The second-year QB turned 23 years old on Saturday. On Sunday, he showed that he might be young, but he’s capable as an NFL passer.

Just before halftime, Howell threw a laser down the right sideline to John Bates for a 35-yard gain that set up a field goal just before time expired. That brought the Commanders deficit within a touchdown, and then early in the third quarter, Howell tied it up with a 30-yard touchdown bomb to Terry McLaurin. The start wide receiver made an excellent play to bring the catch in, out jumping two Broncos defenders on the play.

Just like that, the game was tied, and the momentum switched from Denver to the visiting Washington sideline. It was palpable throughout the Mile High stadium.

That didn’t last long, however, as Ron Rivera elected to try a 59-yard field goal on an ensuing possession. The ball went right and Denver took advantage of the field position, securing a field goal of their own to retake the lead.

Expect much discussion if Rivera should have punted in that situation, pinning the Broncos deep and giving the reinvigorated Commanders pass rush the opportunity to go after Wilson. Alas, Rivera chose the opposite and it backfired.

That decision did not cost Washington the contest though, as Howell would engineer a fourth-quarter scoring drive to take a 28-24 lead, Washington’s first lead of the game. A key play came on a 36-yard screen pass from Howell to Antonio Gibson, a terrific play call from Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

The screen game magic would continue throughout the fourth quarter as Washington expanded its lead to double digits on an eight play, 64 yards touchdown drive that iced the game. On that drive, Howell and Robinson really shined.

The NFL world learned a lot about Washington in the comeback win over Denver. The Commanders won’t quit; they’ve got a real quarterback and a defense that can cause trouble. It won’t always be pretty, but it’s possible that it could be pretty good. For a Washington fanbase undergoing a reawakening, this squad gives them plenty to be excited about.

Enough about the game, here’s the stock report:

Stock Up

Brian Robinson: the second-year running back possibly played his best game in a Commanders uniform. He finished the game with 87 rush yards and another 42 in the pass game, but a late third-quarter 27-yard run really set the tone. He showed both his power and quick feet with a dash of speed to get to the top level of the Broncos defense.

Sam Howell: A strong effort from the second-year passer in his first NFL road start.

Chase Young: After a neck injury forced Young to miss the season opener, the fourth-year pass rusher notched a sack in his first game back. The second-half takedown of Russell Wilson marks Young’s first sack since 2021.

Ron Rivera: Despite a questionable 59-yard field goal attempt in the third quarter, Rivera finally broke through and beat the Broncos. Rivera had been 0-4 in his career against Denver, including a 2016 Super Bowl loss. The win also gets Rivera his 100th win as an NFL head coach, joining some elite company.

Emmanuel Forbes: It was a day of firsts for Washington, and that included the rookie grabbing his first NFL interception. Expect plenty more from the 2023 first-round pick with a nose for the football.

Defensive front: Jon Allen and Daron Payne are playing elite football and deserve accolades seemingly every game.

Rocky Mountain Thunder: Throughout the game, the Broncos sideboards encouraged fans to stop their feet to make more noise. It worked, the place was loud and at various times the whole stadium shook. It was pretty cool.

Eric Beiniemy: The Commanders play caller did a great job in the second half of mixing in screens with the run game to ice away the game. Impressive work.

Stock Down

Cameron Cheeseman: Long snappers aren’t supposed to make headlines, and when they do, it’s generally bad news. That’s the case here, as Cheeseman continues to be suspect for the Commanders. At least two snaps on field goal attempts looked subpar, and Rivera admitted last week to being concerned about Cheeseman’s struggles. This is something to watch.

Cheap shot: Broncos safety Kareem Jackson unloaded with a vicious head shot on Logan Thomas after a touchdown catch.

Charles Leno: The Commanders anchor at left tackle had a rough game, giving up a sack to speed rusher Nik Bonitto and getting called for a few penalties.
