Despite its breathtaking beauty, Bali has a complicated relationship when it comes its canine residents.

Coconuts Bali has reported, for years, on issues from the spread of rabies (and how the local authorities have been handling it) to dog meat trade to instances of cruelty such as the poisoning of dogs.

That said, there are people whose love toward our furry friends is so unwavering that they deserve to be featured as well.

Last month, Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA) reported that 23 rescued animals have been adopted. Once stranded and in desperate need of love, these doggos have now found their forever families.

“Here are so many homeless animals on the streets and beaches of Bali right now. It is truly overwhelming.  People see these animals and call BAWA. But with resources so stretched and shelters over full, it is difficult to help them all. That’s why adopting a dog or cat is truly life-saving,” said Janice Girardi, BAWA founder.

“We urge people to not breed, buy or sell dogs but consider adopting one of the thousands of dogs that need a home. It will save the life of the animal and bring an enormous amount of love and joy into your home. Adopting a dog allows us the space to save another life and bring a new animal into our shelter until adopted.”

The need is immense. Bali’s streets and beaches have, for far too long, been home to countless animals in search of a loving embrace. With resources stretched thin and shelters bursting at the seams, every adoption is a beacon of hope.

“Adopting a shelter dog is a life-changing experience. You take a dog that has never been cared for or touched or has been through traumatic experiences. When you adopt them, their life changes. They begin to transform under your love and care. Witnessing this transformation is life-changing both for the dog, yourself, and your family,” Girardi added.

Former Liverpool and Barcelona forward Luis Suarez showcased his dark arts yet again during Gremio’s 3-2 defeat to Internacional.

The 36-year-old is well known for his footballing brilliance, but there is also another side to his game.

Suarez earned a reputation for being a diver during his time in the both the Premier League and LaLiga.

The accusations led to the Uruguayan producing a diving celebration in front of former Everton boss David Moyes when he plied his trade with Liverpool.

And it seems Suarez is still at his old tricks, having produced a theatrical fall during Gremio’s loss following a challenge.

The ex-Barca ace then launched himself in the air, before beginning to spin as he fell to the ground rolling around.

He could then be seen gesturing towards the referee asking him to brandish a card.

Suarez was certainly caught and Internacional defender Rene was given a yellow card.

Though the Gremio talisman could then be seen laughing on the turf as cameras panned towards him.

Fans were quick to comment after the clip went viral with one likening him to a move performed by WWE legend ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.

This fan said: “Looks like he was hit with a Stone Cold Stunner.”

Another added: “Taking ballet lessons from Cavani with that pirouette…”

A third wrote: “That laugh afterwards made it ten times better.”

While a fourth said: “Embarrassing, but nothing new there.”

The former Liverpool fan favourite netted 69 goals in 110 games during his time at Anfield, before joining Barcelona where he scored 195 times in 283 outings.

He would later join Atletico Madrid, before heading back to boyhood club Nacional in his native Uruguay, and later joined Brazilian side Gremio.

Suarez recently confirmed he will leave the Brazilian giants at the end of the year, could link up with former Barcelona teammate and close friend Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

A move stateside would also see him reunite with both Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, who he shared a dressing room with at the Camp Nou.
