Chelsea fans laugh at Liverpool as Romeo Lavia bid deals latest blow for Premier League rivals

Chelsea fans have been quick to laugh at the expense of Liverpool as they look set to hijack a deal for Romeo Lavia.

The Southampton star has been a key target for the Reds during the summer as they continue their midfield rebuild.

However they have seen three bids rejected for him and now Chelsea have made their own offer for the former Manchester City youngster.

Such a bid is believed to be around £48million, which is closer to the £50m that Southampton want compared to Liverpool’s offer.

Even though Lavia couldn’t help keep the Saints up last season, he is clearly admired by two of the Premier League’s biggest sides.

It’s not the first time they’ve eyed the same targets, although Chelsea seem to have won all their transfer battles thus far ahead of their Premier League meeting on Sunday.

One fan on Twitter said: “Liverpool wanted Enzo [Fernandez] – he’s at Chelsea. Liverpool wanted [Levi] Colwill – he’s at Chelsea. Liverpool wanted [Moises] Caicedo – coming to Chelsea. Liverpool wants Lavia – Chelsea stronger bid.

“We own this club and have the chance to do the funniest thing on Sunday….,” they added, with another fan saying in response with laughing emojis: “[Jurgen] Klopp has no pull.”

“Their dream is our reality,” added another.

A highly amused third said: “What do you think L in Liverpool stands for?”

Fernandez was linked with Liverpool after he won the World Cup with Argentina before Chelsea spent £106.8m on him in January.

The Reds also eyed a move for Colwill, but he recently signed a new six-year contract at the Blues.

talkSPORT revealed in July that Liverpool could move for Caicedo but he could join Chelsea from Brighton this summer if they pay a fee in the region of £100m.

A Lavia move to Stamford Bridge would therefore land another blow to Jurgen Klopp’s plans this season with just three more days until they kick-off the new season.
