Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson were astounded by the ripped physique of Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson on the player’s return for pre-season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were in high spirits as the squad reconvened after their summer holidays to begin preparation for the 2023-24 season.

And it was the work done in the off season by Henderson that caught the eyes of Robertson and Salah, himself known for his sculpted abdominals.

In a video uploaded by the club, the Egyptian can be heard excitedly saying: ‘Can you see this? My God.’ In reference to the 33-year-old who had stripped down to begin physical assessments at Kirkby.

‘Wow, what a body,’ Robertson exclaimed to the Reds skipper who looked both flattered and embarrassed at the same time.

‘It’s all that boxing. Alright son,’ the Scotland captain added before mimicking a sparring session ahead of his final loving appreciation of Henderson’s muscles.

First day of pre-season also saw the introduction of new arrivals Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, who met their new team-mates for the first time.

All at the AXA Training Centre appeared to be delighted to return for the upcoming season that starts with a mouth-watering away trip to Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea on August 13.

Before that the Reds will contest five friendly games, starting with fixtures against German second division sides Karlsruher SC and Greuther Furth on July 19 and July 24.

They then face off against Leicester City at the end of the month before their biggest clash against Bayern Munich on August 2.

Klopp’s side finish their pre-season with a tie against SV Darmstadt a week later as they bid to improve on their disappointing 2022-23 campaign.
