50 Funny And Relatable Posts Shared By “Exploding Unicorn” (New Posts)

October 14, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Are there any parents out there? If so, great! If not, we also encourage you to see what we’ve prepared for you today. Why is it worth recommending? Well, maybe because it’s very relatable and stripped of all the gloss and perfection. What we are about to talk about is parenting, but in this less serious, more funny way. Does funny mean untrue? Definitely not!

Not to keep you in suspense for too long, we’re happy to feature some hilarious posts by the one and only James Breakwell, the creator of “Exploding Unicorn” that some of you may already be familiar with. We have already featured many excellent posts by this dad of 4, and since they resonate with so many of you, it’s time to see more of Breakwell’s content.

In addition to preparing a list of James’ newest posts, we have also interviewed him! Scroll down to read what we have found out from Exploding Unicorn’s founder, as well as to get some insightful information about parenting the family & relationship empowerment coach Celia Kibler kindly shared with us.

Bored Panda contacted James Breakwell again to ask some follow-up questions about Exploding Unicorn. We were wondering if, since our last interview, there have been any significant developments or changes in the creator’s life or work. James shared with us: “I’m currently going through the editorial process for the sequel to my debut sci-fi novel, The Chosen Twelve. The next one is called The Gods of Spenser Island and has perhaps more human-on-alien-octopus battles per page than any other book in human history. I imagine I’ll be banned from writing books after this. My children’s book, You Can’t Be a Pterodactyl, also recently came out. The authorities were too slow to stop that one.”

What makes Breakwell’s work so unique is how the author keeps the balance between humor and parenting advice. This is why we wanted to know how James strikes this balance, and what message he hopes readers take away from his books and content. We found out that: “There’s always humor in life if you’re willing to look for it. The worst days make for the best content. Looking for that silver lining naturally keeps me in balance. Okay, maybe not quite in balance, but it stops me from running away into the woods, never to be seen again.”

Exploding Unicorn has a substantial following. We were curious how a dad of 4 engages with his community. James Breakwell explained: “I’ve been building a community through my newsletter on Substack at JamesBreakwell.Substack.com. It’s an environment free from bots or trolls, so it’s much more productive to engage there. I reply to almost every comment. It’s also where I can tell my longest stories, so it weeds out the people with shorter attention spans. You have to truly be at a bad place in your life to subscribe. You should check it out!”

Asked to share some memorable or amusing interactions or responses from his followers that stand out in his mind, James shared with us: “Ever since I wrote about how I almost died when my appendix exploded, I’ve received emails from people who said my story helped save their lives. Rather than waiting, my readers are going to the emergency room at the first sign of trouble. My life is serving as a negative example to others. It’s all I ever wanted.”

As we promised before, we would also like to share with you some interesting facts about parenting. For this reason, we got in touch with Celia Kibler, family & relationship empowerment coach. We asked the expert what some common challenges parents face today are, and how humor can help them cope and find solutions. Kibler told us: “Often adults, and that includes parents, will take life too seriously and often focus on ‘what ifs’. For example, ‘If this happens, then my child won’t be able to do this in the future’.

In addition, parents often forget the fun of childhood and are so busy being adults that they don’t let their inner silliness come out. Stuff is funny, your kids are hilarious and guess what, you often are too.”

Celia gave some real-life examples: “‘If my child doesn’t eat their spinach, then they won’t grow strong.’ Mealtime is often a time when parents get stressed out, and so do their kids, but if they find the fun in eating, it relaxes their child and they will tend to avoid the sometimes daily power struggle.”

Kibler highlighted that it is important to remember the importance of being a kid ourselves and to relax a bit: “Instead of fighting with them to eat, have a monkey night, put paper on your table and allow everyone to just dive in and eat with their hands… fun, funny and your kids may wind up eating stuff they never have before.

The parenting coach continued: “Here’s another example. When my son was 3, he didn’t like to sit and eat at the table. So, instead of getting aggravated every night and ruining everyone’s meal, I invented ‘Ninja bites’ (named for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that he loved). A Ninja bite was this… He was allowed to run a lap inside the house and when he circled back to the dining room, I would yell ‘Ninja Bite’, he would stop, eat, chew and then take another lap. This would continue until all his food was gone, dinner after dinner. Fun and funny all at the same time and the rest of us ate our food happily.

Now, for all you fearful parents thinking you have to teach your child to sit at the table and eat, I will tell you that my son is now 35 years old and has been happily eating meals at a table for decades. The ‘Ninja Bite method’ relieved a struggle in a fun way and avoided arguments and stress, and left us with a fun memory.”

Celia explained how important it is for the parents to build some fun memories with their children: “That’s the good stuff that your child will remember about their childhood, you will too. Parents have a hard time talking with their child, so buy a joke book for them and start telling jokes to each other, laughter makes great, honest connection. Take a step back, perspective is a huge help. How many times have you found something hysterically funny after the fact? When we look at things from the eyes of a child, often what you think is a big deal becomes something that you can laugh about and learn from.”

We asked the parenting coach if she could provide some tips for parents who are struggling to manage their time effectively while still being present for their children. Celia Kibler told us: “You have to become a proactive and intentional parent. Simply flying by the seat of your pants will create reactive, emotional responses that are usually not in the best interest of you or your child. When finding balance in our busy lives, I recommend that parents intentionally spend 10-15 minutes with their child a few times a day. If the parents work in the home, break up your work with 1-on-1 time with your child throughout your day. The scheduled breaks are as good for you as they are for your child.”

“If your work takes you out of the home, set your mornings up with a solid routine that includes 1-on-1 time with you, so that you’re not always rushing and stressed and you have some fun connection before you all start your day. When your child gets home, get up and greet them at the door and show how happy you are that they’ve arrived.” Celia added this is helpful advice also for one’s partner.

The family & relationship empowerment coach continued: “Set up limits and boundaries for your child, yourself, and your work. Don’t allow work calls during family time and bedtimes. Don’t have your phone always in your hand. That just shows your child that your phone is more important than they are. Set up electronic-free zones for the family. Learn to say ‘no’. Prioritize your child, not always your work. That will alleviate your child’s thinking that you always work and have no time for them

Lastly, start noticing the good things your child does. If you only react to trouble or bad choices, your child will grow up believing that nothing they do is right and they’re a bad kid and they will live up to that expectation. Remember that what you focus on is what will grow.”

Finally, we were curious to know how Kibler sees humor and relatability evolving in parenting content in the future, shared by other mums and dads like James Breakwell. Celia said: “Humor is a great connector and a great motivator. Parents have so many similar experiences but often feel alone in their journey. When a parent reads a funny post about a scenario in life relating to another child and their parent, they connect, they think, ‘OMG me too! I’m not the only one.’”

“They can find the humor in the situation by listening to someone else’s perspective on a similar conflict or challenge. We as a society need to laugh more and find the funny in life. Why? Because life is funny, people are funny, things are plain funny and laughter really is the best medicine.

Laughter relaxes, destresses, energizes and exercises the muscles of the body. It boosts our immune systems and our moods. It has so many positive effects, boosting oxygen, blood flow, brain function and actually burns calories, what a great way to get in shape.”

“Children have a natural positive outlook on life. They’re curious about everything and often their curiosity lands them in some very funny situations. Our ability as parents to laugh at situations and each other, not take everything so seriously and to learn to pick and choose our battles, will allow a child to retain so much of the positive that they are born with.

Through all the years of your child’s life, don’t be afraid to be goofy. Tell a joke, wear a silly hat, surprise your child with something they don’t expect. That’s the good stuff in life, that’s the stuff that memories are made of and where connection is built.”

Erik ten Hag’s Scott McTominay joke as Bruno Fernandes makes controversial Man United claim – Manchester Evening News

October 14, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Manchester United have Scott McTominay to thank for sparing their blushes after his stoppage-time brace saw the hosts to a 2-1 win over Brentford.

An Andre Onana mishap had seen Mathias Jensen put the Bees ahead at half-time before McTominay’s 87th-minute introduction changed the game. The victory takes United to 12 points to ease some of the pressure on Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman had seen his side suffer horrendous defeats to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray in the preceding seven days and faced a third straight loss before he turned to McTominay. United did not play brilliantly – although Bruno Fernandes begged to differ – but the Reds ended up with the three points.

Ten Hag jokes about what he told McTominay

Ten Hag joked that he told McTominay to score twice before he secured a euphoric comeback win against Brentford.

McTominay emerged in the 87th minute with United 1-0 down and rifled in a 93rd-minute equaliser before heading in the winner four minutes later.

The midfielder admitted afterwards he could not hear Ten Hag’s instructions as he prepared to come on due to the din of the crowd and the Dutchman was amused at this revelation.

Fernandes makes controversial statement after Brentford win

Bruno Fernandes thinks United deserved to beat Brentford on Saturday because they ‘controlled the game’.

United were aware of the importance of winning against Brentford after back-to-back defeats against Palace and Galatasaray, but they made a nightmare start to the game when conceding first in the 26th minute.

Onana, who got a weak hand to Jensen’s low-driven shot, should have done better and Casemiro was also guilty of giving the ball away in the build-up to the goal, which saw him hooked at the interval.

Today’s Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo left in shock over schoolboy’s very off-colour joke about vegans | Daily Mail Online

October 13, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo were left in stitches, after a primary school-aged viewer offered a cheeky joke about vegans.

The Today show stars were left red-faced as the innocent-looking boy started by asking the pair a question.

‘A vegan and a vegetarian are jumping off a cliff to see who will hit the bottom first. Who wins?’ he asked, as the pair looked perplexed.

‘I don’t know,’ Karl said. ‘Who wins?’ Sarah added.

The youngster didn’t miss a beat as he said, ‘society.’

The pair burst out laughing at the dark joke, with Karl almost falling off the couch.

Newsreader Brooke Boney also had her hand over her mouth, as she laughed in a fit of shock and horror.

‘We weren’t expected that,’ Sarah said, laughing.

It comes as Sunrise continues to dominate in the ratings over Nine, with viewers warming to newcomer, Matt Shirvington.

Today Show’s Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo were left in shock last week, after a school kid delivered a dark joke about vegans: ‘We weren’t expecting that’. All pictured

The former Olympian made his official debut as co-host, replacing David Koch in June, with the breakfast show getting a boost.

In May, the Today show boss Steve ‘Burlo’ Burling come out swinging against a Daily Telegraph story saying the show was in crisis.

The article claimed the ‘beleaguered’ breakfast program is in crisis due to ‘diving’ ratings and viewers supposedly not warming to new co-host Sarah Abo.

However, in an extraordinary statement to Daily Mail Australia, Steve called the report a ‘fabrication’ based on an outmoded method of TV ratings measurement.

The kid said ‘A vegan and a vegetarian are jumping off a cliff to see who will hit the bottom first. Who wins?’ he asked, as the pair looked perplexed. The youngster went on to say ‘society’

The story also alleged there have been tensions among the Today show’s presenters, after newsreader Alex Cullen was relegated to the sports desk while entertainment reporter Brooke Boney stepped up to the news desk.

This reshuffle at the start of the year – which coincided with Abo replacing Allison Langdon as co-anchor – is said to have culminated in Cullen making his displeasure known on air by ‘deadpanning’ Stefanovic and Abo.

This incident reportedly resulted in Burling holding a ‘closed-door meeting’ with Cullen.

It comes as Sunrise continues to dominate in the ratings over Nine, with viewers warming to newcomer, Matt Shirvington. Pictured

Burling hit back at this damning report, telling Daily Mail Australia it was all rubbish.

‘The story published today is total fabrication and a distortion of the old-fashioned and out of date overnight ratings system,’ he said.

‘We are in a good position with Today and Today Extra in metropolitan and east coast audiences, and in the all-important younger demographics.

‘Our team is working brilliantly together and our audience response to the line-up couldn’t be more positive,’ he finished.

Nine’s Today boss hit back at claims the network was unhappy with the breakfast show’s performance in May, calling it a ‘fabrication’. Pictured: Sarah Abo at this year’s Logies

Vanessa Feltz reveals she was ‘deeply offended’ by an X-rated joke Russell Brand made about her daughters… as comedian faces rape and sexual assault allegations | Daily Mail Online

October 13, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Vanessa Feltz opened up for the first time about how she was ‘deeply offended’ by comedian Russell Brand when he joked on air about sleeping with her daughters.

Russell, 48, is currently facing allegations of sexual assaults and abusive and predatory behaviour between 2006 and 2013, when he was at the height of his fame, following the film. Allegations which he denies.

Speaking on her TalkTV drivetime show this afternoon, Vanessa said: ‘If this is ok with you, I wouldn’t mind sharing with you a personal reflection on this story?

‘I met Russell Brand when I was a guest on EForum and Big Brother’s Big Mouth – so our career paths crossed quite naturally over the years and on other occasions I met him as a friend, I met him on his shows and one of those occasions was in 2006 when I appeared on his chat show, 1 Leicester Square.’

She then played a clip of the show, in which Brand asks her: ‘Can I have it off with either you or your daughters?’

Claims: Vanessa Feltz opened up for the first time about how she was ‘deeply offended’ by comedian Russell Brand when he joked on air about sleeping with her daughters

Allegations: Russell, 48, is currently facing allegations of sexual assaults and abusive and predatory behaviour between 2006 and 2013, when he was at the height of his fame, following the film. Allegations which he denies

To which she quickly replies: ‘No, you may not! No…’

The conversation continues: ‘Or here’s a whacky suggestion…’ with Vanessa cutting in: ‘Or three at once, no!’

‘Damn she’s always one step ahead. Vanessa Feltz, come on, some of them are adults,’ Brand jokes.

‘I’ve got two daughters and no, the answer is no,’ with Russell asking: None of them?’

Vanessa says: ‘Neither. Will you stop it! No you can’t.’

‘Selfish,’ he adds.

Vanessa says: ‘When you have your own daughters you will know why I said that.’

‘Well, I won’t sleep with them… ,’ he adds, adopting a silly voice.

Vanessa replies: ‘God, yuck.’

In the studio today, she added: ‘Yuck, precisely, that’s what I thought then and that’s what I think now.’

She continued: ‘It’s terribly awkward when you are a guest on somebody else’s show, particularly in a theatre, which is full of great fans of the presenter… I was in this unbelievably awkward position where you don’t quite know what to do.

‘Are you meant to think it’s funny and play along? Are you meant to stand up and walk out in high dudgeon and look as if you are a spoil-sport and a party-pooper? What are you supposed to do?

‘I know, I was deeply offended then, as I remain deeply offended now at the idea of him saying, ‘I want to have sex with you and both your daughters’. I think one of my daughters was 15 years old at the time and the answer was as you saw me say there, was emphatically, ‘No!’

Speaking on her TalkTV drivetime show this afternoon, Vanessa said: ‘I know, I was deeply offended then, as I remain deeply offended now at the idea of him saying, ‘I want to have sex with you and both your daughters’ (pictured with daughters Allegra and Saskia in 2011)

She also went on to say that she had witnessed Brand on many occasions in a work environment, explaining: ‘I was literally there and I used to be there quite a lot because I used to be on Big Brother’s Big Mouth, EForum a lot. I mean not every week, but maybe every other week, frequently. I saw Russell in full flood and full flow.

‘Actually admired him enormously, his phraseology, his passion, the kind of drama of it all. He seemed to bring a tremendous dollop of charisma to the programme, such as I hadn’t seen in any other presenter.

‘He really was quite remarkable. So I was there, if he was in ‘plain sight’, I was looking at him. But I knew he was having sex with many women, but I just thought they were all willing.’

She added TV executives may also have been in the dark when it came to the star’s behaviour. Brand has strenuously denied all the claims, following the reports at the weekend.

Russell’s representative’s have been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

The comedian is in the face of a slew of historic allegations of sexual assault.

The allegations sprung from the a joint investigation between The Sunday Times and Channel 4 ‘s Dispatches, which revealed a litany of accusations against the comedian turned wellness influencer.

He was then dropped by a charity working to end violence against women in light of the accusations published by the two media outlets.

In the wake of the accusations, the Metropolitan Police has said it will speak to the media outlets to probe Brand’s alleged treatment of women, but added that at this time the force has ‘not received any reports in relation’ to the allegations of sexual assault detailed in the article or documentary film.

The BBC and Channel 4, both of which Brand formerly worked for, have launched probes into his behaviour following the allegations .

In a new statement, a BBC spokesman said today: ‘The documentary and associated reports contained serious allegations, spanning a number of years. Russell Brand worked on BBC radio programmes between 2006 and 2008 and we are urgently looking into the issues raised.’

Denial: Brand has lashed out at ‘aggressive’ media claims as he insisted any relationships he had ‘during his time of promiscuity’ were ‘consensual’ in a 2min 45sec monologue

Hurt: He was then dropped by a charity working to end violence against women in light of the accusations published by the two media outlets

Channel 4 has also said it is conducting its own internal investigation following allegations about Brand.

The statement added: ‘We will be writing to all our current suppliers reminding them of their responsibilities under our Code of Conduct, as we are committed to ensuring our industry has safe, inclusive and professional working environments.’

Two of the women in Channel 4’s Dispatches which aired on Saturday night said they felt production companies had ‘enabled’ Brand’s behaviour.

Meanwhile, Brand has received support from controversial public figures , with the likes of Elon Musk , Andrew Tate and Laurence Fox all appearing to back the comedian as he claimed to be the victim of a ‘coordinated media attack’.

Billionaire tech mogul Musk, self-proclaimed misogynist Tate and actor-turned-political activist Fox threw their weight behind Brand, while fellow comedians such as Jo Caulfield, Sofie Hagen and Daniel Sloss appeared to turn their backs on him.

There is nothing to suggest Russell Brand was abusive toward Lauren Harries.
