Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk could face further punishment after appearing to label Newcastle red card as a ‘f****** joke’ that may be classed as improper conduct towards officials | Daily Mail Online

Virgil van Dijk could face further punishment after his red card against Newcastle after the Liverpool captain appeared to label John Brooks’ decision a ‘f****** joke’

Virgil van Dijk could face further punishment by the Football Association after appearing to berate the referee’s decision to send him off on Sunday as a ‘f***ing joke’, which potentially falls into the category of improper conduct towards officials.

The Liverpool captain was shown a straight red card in the first half of Liverpool’s comeback win at Newcastle for a contentious challenge to deny Alexander Isak a goalscoring opportunity.

And the Dutchman could now face an FA rap for pointing in referee John Brooks’ face, appearing to use foul language and originally refusing to walk off the field. Van Dijk also appeared to exchange strong words with fourth official Craig Pawson.

Former referee Mike Dean told Mail Sport: ‘Van Dijk disagreed as he unleashed a verbal volley on fourth official Craig Pawson, which was out of line.

Depending on what is written in the referee’s report, Van Dijk may find himself in further trouble with the football authorities.’

Per FA guidelines, players can receive further punishment for ‘improper conduct’ such as abusive language.

Numerous players in the past have been given further matches to their original suspension for conduct towards officials after a red card, and the FA handbook states it will punish ‘confrontational’ behaviour.

Sophie Turner flashes a RARE smile as she seems in a more jovial mood than usual on DAY THREE of mediation with estranged husband Joe Jonas in NYC | Daily Mail Online

October 23, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Sophie Turner was spotted with one of her lawyers on Friday morning in New York City.

The 26-year-old star appeared to be in a more jovial mood as she flashed a rare smile – in the past few days Turner has appeared more grim faced.

Sophie is on day three of mediation to work on her divorce from singer Joe Jonas.

The X-Men star, who shares two daughters with 34-year-old Jonas Brothers band member, wore her hair down and had on Ray-Ban sunglasses with gold hoop earrings and her gold wedding ring in place.

Her attire was on the casual side.

Turner was accompanied by lawyer Catherine Bedford as they arrived at a law office in Manhattan.

Mediation: Sophie Turner was spotted with one of her lawyers in New York on Friday as she and Joe Jonas embark on their third day of mediation to resolve their divorce

Represented by the best: The X-Men star, 26, who shares two daughters with 34-year-old Jonas Brothers band member, was accompanied by lawyer Catherine Bedford

Sophie was dressed down. She wore a floral print jacket and faded jeans as she seemed to be channeling a 70s feel.

Carrying a large white tote over her shoulder and a handful of accessories, the mother of two appeared ready for business.

She topped off the look in a set of red flats as she kept close to Bedford while entering the building. In her hand was a cell phone and bottle of water.

Bedford – who works for law firm Harbottle & Lewis – ‘deals with all areas of family law including divorce and separation; the breakdown of civil partnerships; cohabitation disputes; jurisdictional disputes and enforcement; pre- and post-nuptial agreements; freezing injunctions; appeals; and applications to vary maintenance’ according to the firm’s website.

This comes two days after the former power couple left the first day of their mediations to resolve their ongoing divorce battle separately – two hours apart.

The Game of Thrones star has petitioned to take their two young daughters back to the UK, while the singer wants joint custody amid their public split.

While Sophie strode out of the mediation through the main entrance on foot at 6pm, her estranged husband stayed two hours later and then tried to sneak out undetected via a service driveway.

Joe Jonas sat in the back of a black SUV – which he had parked in a garage – and was quietly driven from the office space in Manhattan’s Financial District at 8pm.

Sophie also looked tired after the first of their four-day discussions – although she smiled as she arrived back to Taylor Swift‘s luxury apartment, where she’s staying with her daughters.

Over the weekend, Sophie spent Sunday evening in Swift’s entourage as they watched Travis Kelce‘s Chiefs play the New York Jets at the MetLife stadium.

The actress, who has become close with the popstar ever since her divorce was made public last month, left the football game arm-in-arm with Swift.

Legal look: Rocking a groovy ensemble of a floral top and faded jeans, Sophie looked to be channeling a 70s goddess as she kept a smile on her face despite the ongoing legal battle

Style maven: Carrying a large white tote over her shoulder and a handful of accessories, the mother of two appeared ready for business

Meanwhile, Joe is in the thick of his world tour for The Jonas Brothers.

Earlier on Wednesday, the British actress and 34-year-old Jonas arrived separately at the offices of Wilmer Hale to thrash out a divorce agreement.

Sophie donned a casual outfit of blue jeans, a white t-shirt and a green hooded jacket. She was accompanied by a woman who appeared to be part of her legal team.

In the morning, Sophie was seen leaving Swift’s apartment with the same woman.

Joe ended up staying in the building for around 10 hours on Wednesday.

A hearing held on Tuesday revealed the former couple will meet this week to resolve issues in their split, including custody of their daughters Delphine, one, and Willa, three.

Top it off: She topped off the quirky look in a set of red flats and designer shades as she kept close to Bedford while entering the building

Ongoing battle: This comes two days after the former power couple left the first day of their mediations to resolve their ongoing divorce battle separately – two hours apart.

Turner’s lawyer said they would go ‘full hog’ to resolve the matter during the process.

A court was previously told that Jonas wants 50/50 custody and a judge set a January 2 date for a trial for deciding custody of the girls, with lawyers claiming there could be multiple witnesses for both sides.

The hearing was the first at the court in New York, but the split also involves divorce cases in Miami and the UK.

Jonas filed for divorce in Miami on September 1 with sources close to him claiming that Turner had been out partying too much, leaving him alone to look after their daughters.

Turner fired back, accusing Jonas of refusing to hand over the girls’ passports so they could return to England with her.

She cited an international child abduction law as grounds for the children being with her.

Both sides have agreed that the girls will remain in New York until the matter is resolved.

Turner is staying at an apartment in the city owned by popstar Taylor Swift, who previously dated Jonas.

No dice: A court was previously told that Jonas – pictured left arriving at the legal office on Wednesday – wants 50/50 custody

Her lawyer Stephen Cullen told the court that there was ‘some difficulty’ between the two parties with regards to scheduling a trial to decide custody of the girls.

Cullen said he wanted an ‘amicable resolution’ in the case in the quickest fashion.

He said that the trial, which would take place under Hague laws concerning child abduction, would last at most two-and-a-half days as it would cover a ‘very narrow’ range of issues such as where the children’s habitual residence was.

Cullen said that it was ‘essential’ that a trial took place this year because both sides were ‘very young litigants’ who had ‘extremely young children’.

Judge Katherine Polk Failla asked Cullen if he wanted a trial set given that mediation was taking place.

Happier times: Joe and Sophie have two children together after getting married in 2019

He said he wanted it to run ‘parallel’ to the mediation.

Cullen said: ‘We are starting mediation tomorrow (Wednesday) and are going full hog to do everything we possibly can to resolve this matter’.

Cullen said that the interim order signed by the judge keeping the children in New York would be ‘addressed head-on’ during the mediation, raising the prospect Turner may return to England soon.

Cullen also told the court that Jonas was seeking 50/50 custody of the girls, a claim that he said would ‘evaporate’ many of Jonas’s defenses in the case.

Jonas’s lawyer Richard Min told the court that his client was on a world tour which was taking a break on December 9 and so could not be available for a trial before then.

Currently the daughters are with Turner, the court heard.

Previous legal filings have detailed how the couple’s three year marriage rapidly broke up in August after Jonas reportedly saw Turner insulting him on their Ring camera.

He filed for divorce two weeks later claiming their relationship was ‘irretrievably broken’ and sources close to the singer tried to portray Turner as partying too hard and leaving him looking after their daughters.

But Turner responded with the lawsuit in New York under international child abduction laws.

In court papers she claimed that the couple sold their home in Miami in March and that they bought a $9million home near Oxford, England, which they meant as their ‘forever home’.

Turner went further in legal filings in Miami where she included a letter Jonas wrote to the seller of the property that showed him gushing about the prospect of living there.

The sale of the house is set to be finalized on December 2 but has reportedly not yet gone through, with the divorce potentially throwing a wrench in the deal.

World Cup 2030 to be held across THREE continents and England could face crazy 13,000 mile travel schedule

October 22, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

THE 2030 World Cup will be held in SIX countries across THREE continents.

In a remarkable deal stitched together by Fifa President Gianni Infantino, the opening three matches of the tournament will be played in South America.

PA

That will see the first match played in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo, followed by Argentina hosting a game in Buenos Aires, before the third fixture is held in Asuncion, Paraguay.

The six teams involved in those games will then fly across the Atlantic, with the rest of the tournament shared between Morocco, Portugal and Spain.

England could be one of the teams involved, meaning the Three Lions would have to travel approximately 6,500 miles to South America for their first match.

They would then have to travel the same distance back to Europe and Africa for their remaining group games either in Spain, Portugal or Morocco.

The agreement was announced on X, formerly Twitter, by South American football boss Alejandro Dominguez.

He said: “We aimed high and dreamed big.

“The 2030 Centenario World Cup starts where it all began.

“The host of the opening matches of the Centenario World Cup will be Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina.”

It means the anticipated 101 games of the 48-team tournament played in Europe and North Africa, with the Final expected to be staged in Real Madrid’s Bernabeu.

The unprecedented agreement was voted through by Fifa’s ruling Council this afternoon and will now be confirmed by the annual Congress in Zurich at the end of next year.

Uruguay hosted the first ever World Cup in 1930, which they went on to win.

Argentina last hosted the tournament in 1978, while Spain took that honour in 1982.

Morocco will become the second African nation to host the tournament, following in the foot steps of South Africa where it was held in 2010.

Portugal has never hosted the tournament.

Today’s news leaves the door open for Saudi Arabia to host the 2034 tournament – which would have to be another winter World Cup – although Australia are also potential bidders.

Saudi have confirmed they plan to bid for the 2034 World Cup.

But the shock development, expected to be announced by Fifa in the next few hours, shows Infantino’s ability to shape the future of the global game.

These selfies of Bali dogs with their new families will put a smile on your face

October 22, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Despite its breathtaking beauty, Bali has a complicated relationship when it comes its canine residents.

Coconuts Bali has reported, for years, on issues from the spread of rabies (and how the local authorities have been handling it) to dog meat trade to instances of cruelty such as the poisoning of dogs.

That said, there are people whose love toward our furry friends is so unwavering that they deserve to be featured as well.

Last month, Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA) reported that 23 rescued animals have been adopted. Once stranded and in desperate need of love, these doggos have now found their forever families.

“Here are so many homeless animals on the streets and beaches of Bali right now. It is truly overwhelming.  People see these animals and call BAWA. But with resources so stretched and shelters over full, it is difficult to help them all. That’s why adopting a dog or cat is truly life-saving,” said Janice Girardi, BAWA founder.

“We urge people to not breed, buy or sell dogs but consider adopting one of the thousands of dogs that need a home. It will save the life of the animal and bring an enormous amount of love and joy into your home. Adopting a dog allows us the space to save another life and bring a new animal into our shelter until adopted.”

The need is immense. Bali’s streets and beaches have, for far too long, been home to countless animals in search of a loving embrace. With resources stretched thin and shelters bursting at the seams, every adoption is a beacon of hope.

“Adopting a shelter dog is a life-changing experience. You take a dog that has never been cared for or touched or has been through traumatic experiences. When you adopt them, their life changes. They begin to transform under your love and care. Witnessing this transformation is life-changing both for the dog, yourself, and your family,” Girardi added.

Without further ado, here are pictures of newly-adopted dogs that will brighten your day.

Found sealed in a rice sack, Griffin has found a home of his own.
Dusty gets a new chance at life.
Beauty was found with terrible skin conditions but now look at her.
Abandoned in the dark of night, Bolu is now adopted and treasured.
Angel found a new haven.
After waiting 833 days, Sunset finally found a loving family.
Ney Ney found her perfect match after 735 days.
One-eyed wonder Bernad living the good life with his forever family.
