VIDEO: Ja Morant’s NBA YoungBoy celebration after win vs. Mavs will make Grizzlies fans smile

September 13, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

It sure looks like Ja Morant is now in a good place mentally following a tumultuous past few weeks that saw him take some time away from the Memphis Grizzlies and undergo counseling.

Morant made his first appearance with the team since his gun incident early in March. He was on the sidelines for the Grizzlies’ game against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, with the home fans even giving him a rousing welcome as he finally returned.

As he watched his Grizzlies come back from a 16-point deficit to win 112-108 against the Mavs, Morant also celebrated along with his teammates. When Santi Aldama was being interviewed postgame, the explosive guard crashed it and channeled his inner NBA YoungBoy as he spit the lyrics from the rapper’s “Fresh Prince of Utah.”

“IT’S A PARADE INSIDE MY CITY YEAAA”

Ja Morant is BACK 😂pic.twitter.com/2aE2xDemtT

— ClutchPoints (@ClutchPointsApp) March 21, 2023

It is definitely great to see Ja Morant doing well after his controversy. While many have criticized him and the Grizzlies for their alleged PR stunt just to bury the issue, the important thing is the youngster has learned his lesson and is reflecting from it.

For what it’s worth, Morant also had a heartfelt moment with Mavs star Kyrie Irving following Monday’s game. The two shared a hug in what is clearly a massive show of support from Irving to his fellow NBA player and brother.

Morant is expected to return to the court soon, with hopes that he is going to suit up come Wednesday when they play the Houston Rockets at home.

Sinead O’Connor dead: We needed you, Sinead, the crazy-brave anti-Barbie

September 13, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Rest in peace, you brave, truth-seeking, demon-fighting, raw, funny, smart, difficult, gifted, glorious woman. Nobody meant more to me when I was young, stupid and figuring out how to be an adult, a woman, a mother. But as you sang then, how could I possibly know what I wanted when I was only 21?

You could always see through the emperor’s new clothes.

You were no people-pleasing Barbie. You were always crazy-brave, unfiltered, unapologetic. You sang your own wild songs of lust and politics and anger at the top of your lungs, and treated your beauty with a thrilling contempt.

Most of the time, when famous artists die, I am more interested than upset. Even when I loved their music, I know that I didn’t really know them, post a tribute and get on with my day. The news of your death this morning, Sinead O’Connor, had me weeping in bed, like all those times a troubled, brilliant friend is gone too soon.

For years I watched half in admiration and half in dread as you careered through genres, religions, opinions and relationships, never hiding your wild ride through your own mental health struggles, never backing away from a political fight.

It’s pretty clear that, for those who cared for you, up close you were hard work. The good ones often are. But I also loved that you would not shut up, long after the point when a woman in the entertainment business should become invisible.

You were also tremendously funny, a bawdy, sweary presence on Twitter, with a keen sense of your own ridiculousness. Your memoir Rememberings made me laugh out loud many times, even as you told us terrible things.

WATCH: Biden responds to bribery scandal allegations with joke: ‘Where’s the money?’ | Fox News

September 13, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

President Biden responded to questions Thursday about his alleged involvement in an international bribery scandal with a joke.

President Biden responded to questions Thursday about his alleged involvement in an international bribery scandal with a simple joke.

“Where’s the money?” he quipped when asked by a reporter for his response to Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., a member of the House Oversight Committee investigating the president, who said earlier in the day the allegations are “worse than has been reported so far.”

“I’m joking. It’s a bunch of malarkey,” Biden added.

Mace, who reviewed the FD-1023 document an FBI whistleblower said proved Biden’s participation in the bribery scandal, told Fox News Digital on Thursday there is “damning evidence the sitting President of the United States sold out his country in an ongoing bribery scheme.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., and Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, were first approached by the whistleblower who said the FBI was in possession of the document, dated June 30, 2020, that explicitly detailed information provided by a confidential human source who alleged that Biden, while serving as vice president, was involved in a $5 million criminal bribery scheme with a foreign national in exchange for influence over policy decisions.

After being subpoenaed for the document, FBI Director Christopher Wray on Monday allowed Comer and House Oversight Committee ranking member Jamie Raskin, D-Md., to view the document in a secure sensitive compartment information facility.

The FBI agreed on Wednesday to allow the full Oversight Committee to view the document after Republicans on the committee threatened to hold Wray in contempt of Congress.

The information in the document, according to the whistleblower, reveals “a precise description of how the alleged criminal scheme was employed as well as its purpose” and details an arrangement that involved an exchange of money for policy decisions.

Arise, ‘Mary Queen of Stops’ Earps: Petition calling for Nike to overturn decision not to sell England goalie’s shirt hits 70,000 as Lioness is hailed stand out heroine of the match – but PR experts say she will have the last laugh | Daily Mail Online

September 12, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Furious football fans are heaping fresh pressure on Nike to overturn its ‘outrageous’ snub of England’s heroic goalkeeper Mary Earps after it refused to sell replicas of her shirt – with 70,000 people now backing a petition demanding a u-turn.

The 30-year-old Lioness was hailed as a standout heroine of England‘s World Cup final match against Spain on Sunday, which later saw her being awarded the coveted Golden Glove, recognising her as the best keeper of the tournament.

The match ended in heartache for England, who lost 1-0. But Earps – adoringly nicknamed ‘Mary Queen of Stops’ by fans – produced a string of stunning saves to keep her team in it, which included a penalty stoppage of Jennifer Hermoso’s strike.

But her performance has been marred by Nike’s controversial decision not to sell the shirt of the Lioness heroine, who has since been hailed as a ‘national hero’ that ‘deserves the world’ following her performance at this year’s tournament.

However, PR gurus say Earps could have the last laugh insisting she could rake in a million pounds through lucrative brand deals, with experts saying Nike’s snub was a ‘golden opportunity’ for other firms to ‘scoop her up’ – which could even see the likes of Kim Kardashian eyeing up the star to represent her Skims clothing range.

Lioness keeper Mary Earps was hailed as the best goalie in the World Cup, being awarded the Golden Glove trophy. But Nike has come under fire for not selling copies of her team shirt

The England star was the standout hero of the World Cup final after saving Jennifer Hermoso’s penalty in the second half, keeping the Lionesses in the match

Former England goalkeeper David Seaman said Nike would be ‘regretting’ its decision not to sell replicas of Earps’ shirt following her efforts in the Women’s World Cup

Nick Ede, brand and culture expert, said Earps was ‘well on her way to making over a million pounds’ through brand endorsements, TV deals and public engagements.

‘Mary Earps has shone at the World Cup and although Nike have refused to print her team shirt this is now a golden opportunity for other disruptor brands to come in and scoop her up as a brand ambassador and make a lot of money for her and the brand,’ he told MailOnline.

‘I can see her being offered lucrative book deals and also big brand endorsements too. As a positive role model she has a really big chance of making a lot of money in many categories from cosmetics brands, lifestyle and healthcare brands too.

‘The big players who have lots of money to spend like insurance companies and banks will love her for brand recognition and positive impact. I can also see someone like Kim Kardashian utilising them to further her Skims brand in the UK and cement its inclusive message.’

The news comes as pressure continues to mount on Nike to overturn its decision not to sell Earps’ kits to her growing army of fans.

In a sly dig at the fashion giant following Sunday’s final in Sydney, Australia, former England men’s keeper David Seaman tweeted: ‘Bet @Nike are regretting not selling the #MaryEarps shirt now.’

While fans on social media celebrated her efforts and insisted she was now a national icon, with one woman tweeting: ‘@nikefootball Why won’t you sell Mary Earps’ kit. Are you crazy? She’s a national hero!’

Another added: ‘Despite losing can we just appreciate Mary Earps for a second? That woman is a national hero and deserves the world #Lionesses.’

Mary Earps cemented her place as a legendary Lioness figure following her performance during the World Cup (she is pictured celebrating England’s semi-final win, with Rachel Daly on her back)

Fans of the English keeper have been demanding Nike releases replicas of her team shirts

But so far the fashion giant has refused to do so – with PR gurus now claiming the move could now be a ‘golden opportunity’ for other brands to ‘scoop up’ the England star

Nike, which manufactures the England kit, has been blasted for choosing not to sell a replica shirt with Earps’ name and number, unlike other players.

Earps discovered she had been left out of promotional pictures when the Lionesses World Cup kit was launched in April and that her shirt would not be available.

The Manchester United keeper raised the issue with Nike and even offered to fund the production herself but was told this would not be possible.

The England goalie, whose roaring ‘f*** off’ after she saved Jennifer Hermoso’s penalty became a standout moment from the women’s World Cup Final, slammed Nike’s ‘hugely hurtful’ decision not to stock replicas of her shirt for fans to buy.

A petition set up by 16-year-old Emmy Somauroo demanding the sport giant make the shirt reached more than 70,000 signatures on Monday.

Calling on people to ‘unite’, the Change.org petition said: ‘We need to show togetherness and support Mary and ask Nike to rethink their decision. Let’s make them see just how important our female goalkeepers are. How respected they are and how many young girls aspire to join them in the future.

‘Any type of exclusion is unacceptable in this day and age and we need to show we will not stand for it. Mary and all female goalkeepers, we love and respect you. You are inspirational and we are behind you.’

Supporters of the campaign have since rallied round Earps, with one writing: ‘She was named the best female goalkeeper in the world. She is an inspiration for all girls (and) women.’

Another branded the move by Nike as ‘disgraceful’ adding: ‘Mary Earps is so inspirational and an incredible role model for the future of women’s football. She should be recognised as such with her shirt available to buy for all fans.’

Lioness fans have since taken matters into their own hands, making their own replica jerseys using felt tip pens and printing machines.

Singer Kate Nash was among the fans posting on Twitter to reveal their very own, homemade Mary Earps shirts, following Nike’s decision not to stock replicas of the Lioness goalie’s jersey

Another Lioness fan had had her own Earps shirt printed, seeing as Nike would not stock replicas of the jersey

One fan, who appeared to have written Earps’s name onto a piece of fabric and sewed it onto a different Premier League shirt, asked others to share their own creations

As the petition for Nike to sell Mary Earps’s shirt reaches 70,000 signatures, people have taken matters into their own hands to create their own

A mother took to Twitter to explain her daughter ‘adores’ Mary Earps but was not able to buy a proper jersey to support the goalkeeper, so instead she wrote ‘Earps’ and a number 1 on a pink t shirt that was turned inside out

One male fan, who was watching the World Cup Final in a fan zone, had used what appeared to be duct tape to customise his jacket to feature Earps’s surname and shirt number

Nike last night broke its silence on the furore around the scandal, issuing a brief statement, saying: ‘Nike is committed to women’s football and we’re excited by the passion around this year’s tournament and the incredible win by the Lionesses to make it into the final.

‘We are proudly offering the best of Nike innovation and services to our federation partners and hundreds of athletes.

‘We hear and understand the desire for a retail version of a goalkeeper jersey and we are working towards solutions for future tournaments, in partnership with Fifa and the federations.

‘The fact that there’s a conversation on this topic is testament to the continued passion and energy around the women’s game and we believe that’s encouraging.’

But speaking at Brisbane hotel last month about how the fashion giant was not selling her jersey, Earps said: ‘I can’t really sugarcoat this any way so I’m not going to try, it’s hugely disappointing and very hurtful.

‘It’s something that I’ve been fighting behind closed doors. I’ve been desperately trying to find a solution with the FA and with Nike.’

‘Unfortunately it’s become very evident that is not possible and there’s not going to be an acceptable solution for the young kids out there. On a personal level it’s obviously hugely hurtful, considering the last 12 months especially.’

Lionesses can ‘command up to £500,000’ with brand, TV and book deals during ‘golden window of opportunity’ after reaching World Cup final – with fan favourite and ‘positive role model’ Mary Earps well on her way to more than a £1million, expert says

by TOM COTTERILL

England’s heroic squad of Lionesses can now ‘command up to £500,000’ through lucrative branding deals after reaching the World Cup final, PR gurus have said – with fan favourite Mary Earps ‘well on her way’ to earning ‘more than a million’.

Sarina Wiegman’s squad’s stunning success is likely to see players reaping in huge endorsement deals with major companies eager to capitalise on the Lionesses’ ‘positive role model’ status during a ‘golden window of opportunity’.

Branding experts predicted stars could expect to bag TV and book deals worth hundreds of thousands – with some potentially netting themselves huge endorsements from fashion giants and celebrities keen to get a Lioness on board.

Nick Ede, brand and culture expert, said England’s own golden goalkeeper Mary Earps could soon lead the pack after being hailed the best goalie at the World Cup.

‘The Lionesses can command up to half a million during this golden window of opportunity for them,’ he told MailOnline. ‘Like with any group of people there will always be ones that brands pick out and want more than others and I can see that Mary could be well on her way to making over a million with brand endorsements, public speaking engagements and TV deals too.’

Sarina Wiegman’s squad’s stunning success is likely to see players reaping in huge endorsement deals with major companies eager to capitalise on the Lionesses’ ‘positive role model’ status (the team is pictured after their semi-final win)

The Lionesses celebrated reaching their maiden World Cup final, and England’s first in nearly 60 years, by dancing to Sweet Caroline today -with PR gurus claiming the squad were now admired as role models for young girls and women

And England’s heroic goalkeeper Mary Earps could be ‘well on her way’ to making ‘more than a million pounds’ following her performance in the World Cup, which saw her being awarded the coveted Golden Gloves award as she was named the best keeper in the tournament

He claimed fashion and cosmetic brands will be looking to sign up the Lionesses, with social media plugs by England players potentially netting them between £5,000 and £10,000 a post – with a six-month deal earning upwards of £100,000.

He added Earps ‘shone’ during the World Cup and that although Nike refused to print her team shirt, it was now a ‘golden opportunity for other disruptor brands to come in and scoop her up as a brand ambassador’.

‘As a positive role model she has a really big chance of making a lot of money in many categories from cosmetics brands, lifestyle and healthcare brands too,’ Mr Ede said.

‘The big players who have lots of money to spend like insurance companies and banks will love her for brand recognition and positive impact. I can also see someone like Kim Kardashian utilising them to further her Skims brand in the UK and cement its inclusive message.’

The brand expert said the reason the Lionesses were so ‘attractive’ to business and advertisers was because they had a ‘clean and positive inclusive attitude’ which was ‘very appealing’.

‘I can see one or two of them walking down the catwalk at London Fashion Week for a big fashion house, perhaps Victoria Beckham,’ he added.

‘As role models they are the perfect players for car brands looking to encourage female purchasers and I can see household names like Persil wanting to jump on the brand bandwagon and sign them up too.’

Some Lionesses are expected to rake in hundreds of thousands of pounds through lucrative brand deals and endorsements, PR experts have claimed.

The team’s official Twitter account posted three images from behind the scenes in Sydney, following an historic 3-1 win over old rivals, Australia

PR expert Sean O’Meara told MailOnline there had ‘never been a better time’ to be a Lioness – and predicted top players in the squad could make huge amounts of cash.

‘I expect some of the squad will be signing deals worth millions. I also think shows like Strictly Come Dancing will be sniffing around,’ he told MailOnline.

‘Even though they lost the final, record-breaking viewing figures and positive audience sentiment toward the England team brand mean that commercially there’s never been a better time to be a Lioness. They’ll need to strike while their irons are hot though.’

He said Earps could enjoy the sort of branding success of USA goalkeeper Hope Solo, who bagged major deals with Nike, Simple, Seiko and Bank of America during her 16 years with the American national side.

Mr O’Meara added that Nike’s decision not to sell replicas of Earps’ shirt was a huge miscalculation by the fashion giant – as he predicted the 30-year-old Manchester United star would benefit from it.

‘There’s an opportunity brewing,’ he added. ‘Nike have sort of, but not quite, apologised already and have vaguely committed to “solutions”, but when a hero like Mary is snubbed like that, there will be a savvy brand – not necessarily a sportswear brand – ready to sweep in and throw their weight behind her.

‘I think in the long run she’ll benefit from what’s happened, with more opportunities than she would have enjoyed had Nike just released her shirt.

‘It is still a huge shame that Nike dropped the ball, but if Mary is well-advised she could stand to make millions from commercial partnerships.’
