A misunderstanding between a baker and her client led to the happiest of accidents.

On March 19, TikToker Brianna Romero (@brinnicakes), posted a “storytime” about a recent order that went awry in the most hilarious of ways. In the video, which has been viewed over 11.3 million times, the El Paso, Texas baker recounts what happened when she received a rush order for a cake.

“Guys, so my worst nightmare happened,” Romero says in the TikTok, while making an unrelated Kuromi-themed cake in the video. “Last week, a lady DMed me and asked me if I can make an emo cake, and I was thinking ‘Yes, of course. I love emo and I love goth.’”

Romero, who says she’s been perfecting her black frosting, agreed to make the cake.

“I get all the info, the flavor, when she needs it by and everything like that,” Romero says, adding that after she finished frosting the cake on the day the cake was set to be delivered, she reached out to the client to ask if she wanted a number candle to go with it. “She says, “Yes, it’s for my granddaughter and she’s turning four.’”

Taken aback by how young the recipient of this “emo cake” was, Romero says she attempted to explain it away to herself.

“I thought I was a little bit weird because I don’t know an emo four-year-old,” she says. “But I was thinking, I was trying to reason with myself, maybe she just likes ‘Wednesday’ or something like that.” 

“But, I don’t know, something felt wrong so I DM her and I just say like, ‘Yes, of course I’ll add the four candle but if you don’t mind me asking what is the theme of the party?’” Romero continues. “And she tells me, ‘It’s Sesame Street.’”

It’s at this point Romero realized her mistake.

“My heart sinks a little bit because this is now making sense to me,” she says, telling viewers that she went back to the original text to see what the customer initially said. “And when I scroll back, I misread emo and it says ‘Elmo cake.’”

Romero says that with less than an hour to go before delivery, she rushed to her local Albertsons grocery store. After begging the bakery to throw an Elmo topper on the black cake, she says she decided to give the moody dessert to the customer for free.

Reaction to the video was extremely positive, with customers saying Romero’s honest mistake tickled them (much like a Tickle Me Elmo would).

Still, many of the comments were asking the baker one question: “I NEED TO SEE THIS EMO ELMO CAKE.” So, in a subsequent TikTok, Romero admitted that she failed to include a photo of the actual order in the original video, so she gave the viewers what they wanted — a full goth reproduction.

“Heard yall wanted a reveal??? Sorry it took long, I would’ve included photos in the original if I had them but like I said I was in a rush,” Romero wrote in the caption of the TikTok. “Anyway heres the freaking emo elmo cake okay!”

In the TikTok, which has over 2 million views, Romero shows screenshots of her texts with the customer before revealing a reproduction of the emo Elmo cake, complete with a side bang like a popular meme of the Sesame Street character.

“This is so funny,” commented one person on TikTok, adding cry-laughing emojis. “Elmo with a side bang has me in tears.”

Then, on May 4, a tweet sharing the baker’s plight went viral on Twitter, giving a second wave to a cake that probably listens to a lot of Dashboard Confessional and Morrissey.

The tweet, which was viewed 10.5 million times, again inspired laughter across the internet, with a heaping side of admiration.

“ELMO! At the Disco,” wrote another Twitter user, referencing emo pop-rock band Panic! At The Disco.

The screenshot of the cake was even retweeted by Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter, who joked that the cake reminded her of Eve 6, a band first formed in 1995 — a time when the emo genre was very popular.

For Romero, all this attention on her cake mistake is surprising but welcome.

“It’s crazy because I’ve never had a big following on any platform or for any reason,” Romero tells TODAY.com, adding that she’s been baking under the name “brinnicakes” for about one-and-a-half years. “It’s been fun. It’s silly to me.”

“Brinnicakes is my nickname, like, since before I was born,” Romero says. “My grandma wrote it in a little journal when she found out that was gonna be my name.”

The 24-year-old, who just got her Master of Business Administration last year, says that she has been receiving many requests to make the emo Elmo cake for other folks, as well as other uniquely themed cakes, thanks to the viral video.

“My orders are predominantly through Instagram, people just DM me with the dates and their ideas and stuff. Because I feel like I’m still learning, I’ll take on most challenges,” she says. 

But Romero is currently taking time off from baking because of a broken wrist, so any creative cake requests will have to wait until she heals.

“I always do farmers markets, but because of my wrist right now, I’m not,” she says. “But as soon as I’m back, I will take some to market.”

Brosnan recently curated his very first solo exhibition as an artist, entitled ‘So Many Dreams,’ which debuted in Los Angeles this past Saturday.

The collection of works is comprised of various paintings, drawings and a short documentary, among others.

The performer shared several images from the gallery to his Instagram account on So Many Dreams’ opening day, in which he posed with several of his pieces.

The exhibition is currently set to remain open to the public until May 21, when it will formally conclude.

Brosnan recently spoke about his passion for art during an interview with Vanity Fair, where he discussed how working on his various projects often brought him solace in stressful times.

‘I have been painting since ’87 and it’s very therapeutic. Painting has helped me find my way in life. Whenever I feel angst, I’ll go to the canvas. It brings me comfort and it’s just so joyful,’ he said.

The performer went on to credit his wife, whom he married in 2001, for encouraging him to show his art to the public. 

‘I never thought about having my paintings going out into the world, but Keely documented it all and said, “Let’s try for a show.” She has a strong hand in the work, in the celebration of the work and the love that she has for the work,’ he said.

Smith also spoke to the media outlet and expressed that Brosnan’s show would provide an opportunity for him to be recognized for his artistic abilities.

‘I think for many of his fans, they will appreciate the opportunity to see this other creative side of him. Everywhere he goes and every movie set he’s on, he always sets up a studio and paints. What you see at the exhibition is the result,’ she stated.

This man decided to shock his wife by getting an unflattering picture of her tattooed onto his body.

Jarrod Grove, 28, decided he wanted to prank his wife, Tegan, 30, by getting a picture of her pulling a funny face tattooed onto his body.

The couple, from Queensland, love to play jokes on each other, but Jarrod decided to up his game with this hilarious tattoo which caused his wife to burst into tears at first.

He says that Tegan pulls this certain face to make people laugh, but never imagined it would be caught on camera.

Jarrod added: ‘She hates the face that she pulls, but I love it. And the fact that she hated the photo of her pulling this face so much, I just had to get it tattooed.

‘I knew it would go one of two ways, either we would laugh together or I’d never see this girl ever again. I guess I’m lucky she has a decent sense of humour.

‘However, she cried a lot at first, then laughed a lot, and then cried again while googling laser companies.

‘But in the end, she just threw her hands up and laughed it off.’

Jarrod says that he loves when his wife pulls this face, and the fact that it is marked on his body forever thrills him.

Jarrod, who works in sales, continued: ‘The tattoo took eight hours to complete.

‘It was painful but what hurt me worse was the absolute anguish in waiting to see if Tegan would have a laugh or have nothing to do with me ever again.

The tattoo enthusiast admitted he was worried about his wife’s reaction, and said he could have it removed by laser if the couple got a divorce 

The pair share the same sense of humour and Jerrod said the tattoo showed his wife ‘raw and honest’ personality

‘Everyone has been very supportive of the tattoo. I’ve had some people asking what would happen if we got a divorce, and I guess I’d get laser,’ Jerrod admitted. 

‘However, our relationship is so tight, that wouldn’t happen,’ he added. 

‘We laugh all the time.

‘She’s my soul mate and nothing will change as long as we are laughing.’

Guns N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus revealed that singer Axl Rose cuts off his microphone from the public address system to tell jokes to bandmates during shows.

In a recent interview with KSHE 95, Fortus explained that the button was also used for a more serious purpose: to decide what the band will play next.

Asked about what fans could expect from GNR’s upcoming shows, Fortus said, “Hopefully we’ll shake things up a bit and switch around songs and stuff like that. … A lot of times every night is different, because we don’t have set lists.”

That led to a query about how they knew which song was coming up. “Our singer, Axl, he’s got a button he can push that cuts off the mic,” Fortus replied. “Which usually is used to tell jokes! … But he’ll just say, ‘What do you guys wanna do?’ And somebody else will say something, or he’ll say, ‘Let’s do this.’ There’s blocks of songs that we’ll do together. And sometimes it’s a real surprise. … And we’re well rehearsed. We sound check for at least an hour every day.”

Fortus also said he played guitar daily, regardless of whether or not he was working. “There are definitely days when I play a lot more than other days,” he explained. “My wife is so incredibly tolerant of my noodling! At the end of the day, if we’re sitting down to watch a show or a movie or something, I’ll sit and noodle. … I have a little amp in the living room.”

Guns N’ Roses start their next world tour on June 5 in Israel, with North American dates following from August through October.
