Holy Week traffic ‘carmageddon’ leads Filipinos to do crazy things
As Filipinos enjoyed the rarity of an ultra-long weekend dedicated to religious traditions (or the beach, we won’t judge) for the Holy Week, this meant an exodus of Metro Manila’s population to their hometowns or vacation spots — leading to heavy traffic across major expressways.
The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) recorded an average running speed of 5 kilometers per hour, which practically placed the entire road at a standstill.

The heavy traffic forced some Filipinos to get creative in order to pass the time.
Take this group of passengers, who distracted themselves from “carmageddon” by playing badminton in the middle of the road.
Meanwhile, another group doing the Visita Iglesia, or visiting seven different churches on Maundy Thursday, chose to partake in the classic Filipino pastime: singing karaoke.
Meanwhile, one took photos of a fellow passenger who began doing the prep work for her lumpia (spring rolls) by prying the wrappers apart, after being stuck in traffic for four hours.
While several users were amused by these antics, others lamented the country’s dire traffic conditions that only worsen during holidays. “A lot of people are saying that ‘Pinoys are really creative, more fun in the [Philippines].’ Why settle for less if we deserve better? A simple and efficient urban planning and efficiency,” one said.
The Filipina shared on TikTok that she was even taken to a holding office, where the immigration officer asked her for her yearbook and graduation photos. Read more.

Hilarious videos show escaped EMU leading Tennessee police on 20 mile chase at speeds of up to 40mph | Daily Mail Online
Road runner! Hilarious video shows escaped EMU leading Tennessee police on 20 mile chase at speeds of up to 40mph after breaking free of his enclosure
This is the incredible moment a pet emu led police on a bizarre 20-mile chase through a Tennessee town.
The flightless birds are famed for being one of the fastest animals on the planet and MeeMoo certainly lived up to the reputation as he clocked speeds of up to 40 miles per hour.
Harry McKinney said the pet escaped from their farm in Roane County on Wednesday after being spooked by construction workers logging behind his home.
MeeMoo cleared the fence with a seven-foot vertical leap and took off running through the town of Harriman.
The Harriman Police Department quickly got involved and an incredible police chase developed over 20 miles before McKinney was able to bundle a tired MeeMoo into his truck.

Police eventually surrounded the flightless bird, which had clocked speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, and MeeMoo made it back home safely

McKinney did his best to follow the bird when it first escaped but he soon lost sight of it and posted an appeal on social media.
He was flooded with messages from residents who provided updates on MeeMoo’s whereabouts throughout the neighborhood, which he was then feeding into the police.
McKinney told 6abc News: ‘I said “if you see my emu please let me know” and immediately we were flooded with private messages saying like “hey your emu is in my back yard” and all these videos.
‘The videos posted are pretty amazing to us but it is really the tip of the iceberg considering what is out there.
‘Everybody in the area got their own private video for this.
‘He went by a lot of the landmarks in town, he went to some popular restaurants, so it really appeared like he knew where he was going.’
A video of MeeMoo being tailed by four police cars as he ran on the road was captured by Steven McDaniel.
He said the chase caught the attention of customers at a restaurant who leapt out of their seats to watch the pursuit.

It started at 20 miles per hour but quickly progressed to speeds of 40 miles per hour.
McDaniel said: ‘The community coming together just for that few minutes was such a great thing to see last night.
‘There’s been a lot of comments about just how funny it was and you know everybody is wanting to meet MeeMoo now.
‘It was well worth it just to take a little video you know.’
MeeMoo was eventually surrounded by police and McKinney was finally able to collect his exhausted pet from a nearby Victorian home and got him into his truck with the help of a ‘great friend’.
‘We were terrified that he would get hit by a car and somebody would hit him with a tranquilizer dart, that he would hurt himself in the chase,’ he added.
He later revealed on Thursday that his ‘internet famous’ emu escaped for a second but was quickly caught after an hour.
McKinney has now reinforced the fence and raised its height to nine feet.

Virginia YouTuber shot during prank video
Tanner Cook, a YouTuber who uploads videos for his channel Classified Goons, was shot Sunday while filming a prank video.
The incident occurred at the Dulles Town Center Mall in Sterling, Virginia. Cook, 21, frequently posts content in which he and his friends play pranks on people. He tried pulling one on Alan W. Colie, 31, but was met with gunfire.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release that Cook, who was shot in the abdomen, was transported to a local hospital.
The agency declined to provide additional information about the incident, citing an active investigation.
Colie was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm to commit a felony and discharging a firearm in a building. Videos of his arrest circulated on social media following the incident.
“I was playing a prank and a simple practical joke, and this guy didn’t take it very well,” Cook told the local CBS affiliate, WUSA, after undergoing surgery. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Colie’s bond hearing was scheduled for Wednesday morning.
Cook told the affiliate that the experience would not prevent him from making more prank videos in the future.
On his channel, he has played practical jokes on Target store workers, Uber drivers, mattress store employees and others.
This is not the first time a prank video has resulted in violence. In 2021, NBC News reported that Timothy Wilks was shot and killed after trying to play a prank on a group of people by approaching them with butcher knives. David Starnes Jr., who shot Wilks, said that he was unaware that his group was being pranked and that he opened fire in self-defense. Starnes was not charged.
