Wisconsin School Principal Releases Hilarious Music Video to Announce Friday Snow Day

January 11, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

When one Wisconsin elementary school principal got a call that his school was going to have a snow day, he announced it in the most entertaining way — with a hilarious music video.

Principal Jack Knaack was told on Thursday, Dec. 22 that students and staff at Richmond Elementary School would have to stay home the following day, Friday, Dec. 23, given the extreme temperatures in Appleton, Wisconsin. The city is expected to have a high of 5° and low of 3° on the day before Christmas Eve.

For Knaack, it was the moment he had been waiting for — and that’s because for years he’d been recording clips that he would eventually edit together to make the big snow day announcement.

The result was a parody set to the tune of “Old Town Road” called “Official Richmond Appleton Snow Day 2022.” The video was shown to students in their classrooms on Thursday afternoon.

The video begins with Knaack fueling up his snowplow, turning it on and exiting from his garage onto his snow-covered driveway.

“Yeah, I’m gonna take my plow through my old driveway, I’m gonna snow blow out ‘til the end of the day,” he sings, as it transitions to Knaack in his Wisconsin Badgers pajamas getting a call from his boss with the news.

The video has been years in the making, Knaack tells TODAY.com.

“This is our first snow day, which is strange here in Wisconsin, first time in two years. So I’ve been kind of playing with this one for a while,” he says, adding that creating the song was “actually the short part” and his son was his cameraman throughout the process. “It took only really a couple of days in the scheme of things, but it was a two-year project because (we were) just waiting for the snow to come.”

The video also shows Knaack stepping out of the school in a Green Bay Packers blazer and yellow top hat with a cane as he sings, “We ain’t gonna have no school, ain’t gonna have no school.”

He also thanks Superintendent of Appleton Area School District Mr. Greg Hartjes for “saving us from going in.”

Knaacks reveals that he actually had a finished copy of the parody last year, but had to make some edits after the school district changed superintendents this year.

“I had her name and I had to put his name,” he says. “I had to rerecord some things even at the last second because I kind of saw the storm come in. So I’m like, ‘Hey, maybe we can finally share this.’”

He also didn’t get the call at 5 a.m., he shares, “but everyone got the picture and it was fun.”

Knaack, who has been the principal at Richmond Elementary School for 12 years, loves creating fun content for the students. And when he heard “Old Town Road,” he knew it was the perfect fit.

“When the song came to me, I’m like, ‘Finally the kids will know the song I’m doing,’” he says, noting that he did another video a few years back but his snow day project is “a little more contemporary.”

Knaack, meanwhile, had a blast finally unveiling his work of art with his school.

“I got to share it with the kids this afternoon… so you could imagine the cheer that was going up and down. It was pretty funny,” he says. “I checked in with kids and … that’s what I liked about it, every kid had a different part they loved. ‘Oh, I really liked it when you’re walking backwards with your snow plow.’ It was just really funny things. They were excited.”

Creating videos, he says, will be “a once a year project.” He’s had inspiration for a couple songs but nothing fully fleshed out. During the winter break, he’ll start thinking of new ideas with his two sons.

“My boys always get hooked into whatever I do. If I need to do something funny, they’re my guinea pigs as well as my camera people and pretty much everything,” he says. “Maybe we even start on the next video together.”

With students and staff not attending the Friday before holiday break, Knaack says that “many people see it as a present.” For him, he just likes to make people laugh.

“And try to (go) a little over the top. I think it’s a fun thing to do,” he says. “And being there 12 years, the kids kind of energize you and when they like something — and they like silliness — it helps. (I) try to give a few more smiles and, of course, a few more smiles going into winter break is pretty easy to do anyway, but this was a good extra addition.”

He adds that he’s looking forward to the next song he’ll create and how it will be received by the public. “‘Old Town Road’ is a good one. I don’t know if I can top that one,” Knaack says. “But we’ll see.”

Elon Musk vows ‘legal action’ against jet-tracking college student after ‘crazy stalker’ allegedly follows car transporting Musk’s son, climbs on hood

January 11, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

On Wednesday evening, Elon Musk announced that he plans to take legal action against the college student who runs a Twitter account that tracks his private jet after a “crazy stalker” followed a vehicle that was transporting Musk’s son, the Associated Press reported.

Jack Sweeney, a 20-year-old college sophomore and programmer, started the account on social media, @ElonJet, to post every time Musk’s plane takes off or lands using publicly available flight-tracking information.

“Last night, car carrying lil X in LA was followed by crazy stalker (thinking it was me), who later blocked car from moving & climbed onto hood,” Musk tweeted, referring to his son, X Æ A-12.

“Legal action is being taken against Sweeney & organizations who supported harm to my family,” he added.

Musk posted a video of the alleged stalker and asked users if anyone recognized him or the vehicle he was driving.

The Los Angeles Police Department told the New York Post police do not have any information regarding the incident.

The account, which has more than 500,000 followers, was suspended Wednesday morning and then briefly reactivated before being suspended again on Wednesday evening. Sweeney’s personal account was also suspended for violating Twitter’s rules “against platform manipulation and spam.”

According to Musk, live tracking of someone’s whereabouts poses a safety risk and will no longer be tolerated on the social media platform.

“Any account doxxing real-time location info of anyone will be suspended, as it is a physical safety violation. This includes posting links to sites with real-time location info,” Musk wrote. “Posting locations someone traveled to on a slightly delayed basis isn’t a safety problem, so is ok.”

Sweeney also runs several other Twitter accounts tracking the flight information of public figures, including Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Russian oligarchs. The flight-tracking accounts also report fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Since Musk’s announcement, those accounts have been suspended.

Shortly after purchasing Twitter, Musk stated that he was committed to promoting free speech on the platform, even if it meant allowing @ElonJet to continue posting his location information.

“My commitment to free speech extends even to not banning the account following my plane, even though that is a direct personal safety risk,” Musk stated at the time.

Sweeney stated that Musk made a mistake by going back on his promise to keep his account up.

“He really is asking for it because it’s just going to get worse in the news,” Sweeney told the New York Post. “He’s going to be called a full-on hypocrite.”

Twitter users are rolling in laughter after an ama2000 schoolgirl had a hilarious encounter with President Cyril Ramaphosa recently.

President Ramaphosa is an avid jogger; every morning, he bumps into fellow runners and early risers.

These people usually get startled at meeting the President and ask him for selfies, which he gladly grants them.

A schoolgirl, Palesa Dube, recently met her luck on a random day.

Palesa was on her way to school early morning last Friday when she bumped into President Cyril Ramaphosa, who was on his morning jog.

She would not let this moment slide, and she whipped out her phone to take photographic evidence of the rare encounter.

The shocked girl screams and holds her mouth in bemusement, calling President Ramaphosa by his first name as she laughs.

‘Crazy isn’t enough’: Democrats scrutinize Ron Johnson’s every move in effort to rethink race

January 10, 2023 by humorouz Leave a Comment

MILWAUKEE — Democrats have attacked Sen. Ron Johnson for years for making outrageous comments, advancing conspiracy theories and what they consider as belittling the concerns of his constituents.

But as Johnson pursues a third term in the Senate, Democrats determined to replace him in office are pursuing a new strategy that one operative succinctly summed up as, “Crazy isn’t enough.”

This time, Democrats say, things will be different. They’re picking apart every radio show and podcast he’s participated in. They’re recording any town halls. They’re scrutinizing Johnson’s now lengthier tenure in Washington. They’re not just exploring the relationship with his donors, but featuring some of the best-known Wisconsin big-money Republicans in ads.

And all of it is to collect evidence that they say underscores a theme that the senator, who has gone back on his own vow to retire after two terms, has grown out of step with Wisconsin voters, according to more than half a dozen interviews with Democrats familiar with the strategy and a review of ads and messaging in the race so far. Last week, Johnson was among the Republicans who voted against capping the cost of insulin and said in a radio show that funding for Medicare and Social Security should be reviewed every year rather than be done automatically — both of the new developments Democratic strategists say will appear in ads.

“They’re going to just stick it to Johnson with everything he did, everything he’s said, every vote he ever cast,” said Brandon Scholz, a longtime Wisconsin Republican strategist.

Democrats confirmed as much.

“Ron Johnson’s entire record will be under scrutiny in this race,” said Amanda Sherman, a spokeswoman with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, including what she called “rigging the system” to benefit himself and spreading misinformation. “Johnson’s out of touch and he’s changed.”

To Republicans, the idea is laughable that a raft of new ads could convince Wisconsin voters that somehow Johnson cares more about Washington than his own state or that he isn’t doing things like scrutinizing the budget every year with a fine-toothed comb.

Interviews with more than a dozen Wisconsin Republicans reveal a party confident they’ve seen every trick in the book against Johnson — and seen each of them fail.

“They’ve been trying to make him into a corrupt businessman for a decade, and it hasn’t worked,” said a former Johnson aide who was not authorized to speak on the record.

Scholz added, “This notion that Republicans are going to drop Ron Johnson and go for [his Democratic opponent, Lt. Gov.] Mandela Barnes? What version of weed have you been smoking?”

As for Johnson’s often controversial comments, Republicans shrug off most of them as utterances that outrage only Democrats and the media. Several Wisconsin operatives with knowledge of the political tracking cited focus groups with would-be voters that found a consistent response to a controversial statement the senator had made: Johnson must be doing something right if he’s ticking off that many people.

The interviews with Republicans also reveal a party that’s brazen in its confidence that it can paint Barnes as too radical and liberal for Wisconsin, a state almost equally divided between Democrats and Republicans with just a fraction of independents and suburban swing voters.

Democrats are also leaning heavily on drawing contrasts between Barnes, a 35-year-old progressive seeking to be the state’s first Black senator, and the 67-year-old incumbent. Johnson has so far only run a Senate campaign against Russ Feingold, the former Wisconsin senator, once in 2010 and again in 2016. In speeches, Barnes describes himself as someone who, as the son of a United Auto Worker, knows the difficulties of the working class and contrasts that with Johnson, who he contends has abandoned Wisconsin for Washington.

Some of the messaging was on display in Barnes’ victory speech before a high-energy crowd Tuesday night. As he claimed his nomination, Barnes pumped his arm into the air, declaring it was time for a change. He then accused Johnson of serving his donors and losing touch with people in Wisconsin’s communities.

“We don’t have enough people in the U.S. Senate who actually know what we’re going through,” Barnes told a cheering crowd. “We don’t have enough people in the U.S. Senate who actually have a working-class experience.”

And Democrats, too, were bracing for what’s to come as the general election kicks off.

“The dog whistling will become Klaxon air raid sirens by Labor Day,” predicted Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson, who was among the Democratic primary contenders who dropped out of the race two weeks ago.

As of Tuesday evening, nearly $50 million in Senate general election ads had been reserved between August and the election, the bulk coming from national groups, according to the advertising data firm AdImpact. Democrats had $25 million booked while Republicans had reserved about $22 million. It’s early, and the numbers are expected to only grow in the Dairy State. Right now, the projected spending on TV ads makes the race the fifth most expensive in the country, with Georgia leading the pack at about $120 million reserved for that time period, according to AdImpact records.

Republicans point to a now well-publicized photo of Barnes holding up a T-shirt that reads “Abolish ICE,” past statements Barnes has made about police funding, and the mere fact that liberal Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., were among those to endorse him. (Barnes has said he does not support eliminating the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.)

“The Democrats nominated the most liberal candidate they could find,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee spokesman Chris Hartline, adding that Barnes has supported President Joe Biden “and his agenda wholeheartedly. Wisconsinites are suffering under the Democrats’ agenda and Mandela Barnes would make it worse.”

Several Wisconsin Democrats privately expressed worry that the primary was far too polite and didn’t prepare Barnes for what they expect to become nasty campaign, with tens of millions of dollars in forthcoming attacks.

Barnes’ opponents didn’t even take the battle all the way to the primary election, with the three most viable candidates dropping out two weeks prior, giving the lieutenant governor a running start.

But other Democrats say Barnes is more than familiar with the bare-knuckle brawling that comes with going up against Wisconsin Republicans.

They say Barnes knows what’s coming, and they’re predicting it won’t be pretty and that Barnes will be ready.

“No one is more up to the task than Mandela,” Nelson said. “He’s a fighter. He beat Scott Walker. He’ll take care of Johnson, too.”
