JOEL MATIP channelled his inner Randy Orton as Liverpool left it until the 98th-minute to beat Newcastle last night.
The defender has been suffering from injury, but showed no signs of pain as he threw himself to the ground, WWE style, to celebrate Fabio Carvalho’s dramatic winner.

The Liverpool defender went mad after the Reds beat Newcastle last night[/caption]

Matip has been compared to WWE icon Randy Orton[/caption]
He had been an unused sub in the match, having missed the Premier League games before the Newcastle clash with a muscle strain.
And he was lucky he didn’t do himself another injury while wildly celebrating Liverpool’s winner last night.
Carvalho’s strike at the death cued Matip to fall to the floor, before the defender slammed the ground with his arms in delight.
He was caught by the BT cameras performing the bizarre celebration, and soon went viral.
The Liverpool star was quickly compared to WWE icon Orton, who similarly falls to the floor and bangs the ground with his arms before performing his legendary RKO manoeuvre.
One fan joked on Twitter: “Matip turned into prime Randy Orton.”
While another said: “Matip is a big Randy Orton fan.”
And a third wrote: “Joel Matip about to deliver an RKO from hell.”

Carvalho’s strike, and Matip’s celebrations, came on a dramatic night at Anfield.
Newcastle record signing Alexander Isak put Toon ahead before the break, but the Reds hit back through Roberto Firmino and new boy Carvalho.
There was drama on the sidelines too, as members of both dugouts clashed in ugly scenes.
The rival benches confronted each other and a member of the Toon staff threw objects in the direction of the home team’s technical area after Carvalho’s last-gasp goal.
