Watch Adam Sandler’s Hilarious Acceptance Speech at the Gotham Awards – Variety

December 3, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Adam Sandler lit up the 32nd annual Gotham Awards on Monday evening with his acceptance speech for the performer tribute award at the New York ceremony. The occasion marked Sandler’s first major stop of the awards season, campaigning for his performance in the Netflix basketball drama “Hustle.”

“I told my daughters Sadie and Sunny, who are 16 and 14, that I didn’t write a speech and they said phrases like, ‘Rude’ and ‘You’re mean,’” Sandler began. “Daddy’s fucking tired. Daddy works hard, calm down. They were like, ‘Can we write your speech, Daddy? So you got something to say.’ I said, absolutely.”

Sandler then pulled out the growly southern accent that he has often adopted for formal speeches: “Dear well-dressed dignitaries, highly educated hipsters and various other plus-ones of the Gotham Awards, thank you for giving our daddy, Mr. Adam Sandler, this prestigious lifetime, all-time, primetime G.O.A.T. achievement tribute award.”

The premise of Sandler’s daughters penning his acceptance speech, whether true or not, carried through the actor’s entire time on the stage, offering a self-deprecating peek behind the internal politics of the Sandler household.

“While daddy is with you tonight, we’re doing everything we’re not allowed to do when daddy is home, like eat his Yodels or try on his Spanx or, dare we say, laugh out loud at Ben Stiller movies,” he joked. “The last time daddy caught us chuckling away at the ‘Meet the Parents’ trilogy, he immediately stormed into the room he calls ‘The Screaming Room,’ which we just call ‘the shower,’ and bellowed out the phrase, ‘Only the Sandman makes people laugh. Fuck every other comedian.’”

Sandler then took a victory lap around his entertainment career, namedropping beloved films like “Billy Madison,” “Big Daddy,” “Punch-Drunk Love” and “Uncut Gems.”

“Daddy’s silly film career began in 1988, formed by two guiding principles: people in prison need movies too and TBS needs content,” he said.

Sandler’s “Uncut Gems” co-directors, Josh and Benny Safdie, offered a tribute speech to introduce their leading man to the stage. The trio have already announced that they are collaborating on a new film.

The “Hustle” star was one of two actors honored with a performer tribute at the event. Michelle Williams accepted her award, presented by her “Fabelmans” co-star Paul Dano, earlier in the evening. Other special distinctions through the evening included “The Woman King” director Gina Prince-Bythewood, Don Katz, Peter Kujawaski, Jason Cassidy and the cast of Hulu’s “Fire Island.”

91 Introverts Share Spot-On And Funny Memes About Their Struggles In This Online Group

December 2, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

Do you prefer listening to talking? Having time to yourself instead of going to a party? Do you love honest conversations about feelings and ideas but feel mentally exhausted even by the idea of small talk? If you’re quietly nodding in agreement, congratulations — you’re an introvert! While you’re probably already aware of the fact, we’re about to remind you that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Here’s where the ‘Introvert Memes’ online community hesitantly enters center stage. Although the group seems to be still growing, it’s home to nearly 29k self-confessed introverted souls where they can find a safe space “to come together to create, share and enjoy memes.” And if you’re anything like us, you can totally relate to the content they share.

Below, we gathered a funny, wild, and painfully spot-on collection of jokes for every single homebody out there. So find a cozy and private space, and get ready for some quality alone time as you laugh while scrolling through this list! Keep reading to also find our interviews with the moderator of the group, YT_Sharkyevno, as well as a renowned introvert advocate Joanna Rawbone, MSc. Be sure to upvote your favorite memes, and then let us know which ones ring true to you in the comments.

Bored Panda reached out to the team looking after ‘IntrovertMemes’, and one moderator who has been taking care of the group from the start, , was kind enough to have a chat about the subreddit.

“It’s not a very hard subreddit to moderate,” they told us. “Being an introvert isn’t exactly a divisive topic and the community seems to attract accepting people. The only thing I really have to moderate is spam and the occasional person promoting self-destructive behavior. But that is pretty rare.”

The moderator also pointed out that a lot more people are introverted than most think. “Introversion is a spectrum,” YT_Sharkyevno said. “Being an introvert isn’t bad or a thing to be ashamed of. So don’t be embarrassed to let your friends know your social energy is out and that you need some alone time.”

We have long heard that human personalities can be split into the polar opposites of “introvert” and “extrovert”. People tend to identify themselves as belonging to either one of the groups, depending on their character, behavior, and lifestyle choices, but this seemingly simple idea of figuring out where you fall on the personality spectrum may be more complicated than you believe. Since there is a myriad of information about the subject, we reached out to an expert to find out what’s accurate and what isn’t.

Joanna Rawbone, MSc, a speaker, trainer, coach, and founder of Flourishing Introverts, explained we need to look at the basics to find out the key difference between introverts and extroverts. “The most reliable definition comes from the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung who coined the terms originally,” Rawbone told Bored Panda. “He explained that the difference between introverts and extraverts (he spelled the word with an ‘a’) is what drains and what charges our mental batteries.”

According to Jung, extraverts recharge by constantly seeking interaction, active experiences, and change: “As a solar panel converts the sun’s rays to make energy, extraverts get their energy from people and the busyness of the world about them.”

Rawbone talked about this in her 2019 TEDx talk Shifting the Extraversion bias to unlock the potential of introverts. She noted that extroverts work on a sort of energy “trickle charge”, constantly topping up while they are in stimulating situations. “When it comes to communications, their process is ‘Say-Think-Say’, so they are never particularly attached to their comments and may not even remember them soon after.”

Alternatively, introverts fall into the ‘Think-Say-Think’ communication pattern. Sentences that escape their mouths are extremely thought-through, intended, and usually perfectly formed. But unfortunately, “if there isn’t space in the conversation, they may not get to the ‘say’ part of their process.”

“Introverts are already over-stimulated mentally, so they do not need additional stimulation,” Rawbone added. “In fact, it quickly overwhelms them.” Their internal world is rich with thoughts, ideas, and personal reflection, allowing them to generate peaceful and calm energy from within.

“Unlike the constant trickle charge for the extraverts, introverts need to monitor their ‘low battery’ warning signal. If you know an Introvert, you may well have heard them say ‘I’ve had enough peopleing for today’ or ‘I’m all peopled out!’ That’s when they may just ‘go offline’ or disappear without warning because when they need to recharge, they have to be somewhere quiet.”

Interestingly, the expert believes that the majority of introverts are already born that way. Or, in her words, ” we’re not weird, we’re wired differently.” It turns out that functional neuroimaging studies have revealed that “the brains of introverts and extraverts light up differently when stimulated in the same way.”

“Christine Fonseca was doing some interesting research that seemed to show that dopamine is more active in the brains of extraverts, and the motivation it provides is linked to external rewards; things like promotion, public recognition and status,” Rawbone added. Meanwhile, introverts derive more pleasure from the ‘feel good’ factor rather than external rewards.

But when it comes to human personality, things are not as black-and-white. This theory doesn’t simply divide people as being either introverts or extroverts, but rather offers a continuum where everyone can fit somewhere along it.

“At each end of the continuum there will be pure, or what I call classic introverts and extraverts, and in between, we’ll have the 5 types of extraverted introverts, and the numerous blends, and there will be the 5 types of introverted extraverts, and the associated blends.” If you’re interested in learning more about your personality, Rawbone has created a questionnaire that helps people find out their unique introvert type.

Moreover, there’s the idea of being an ambivert, a person who has a balance of both in their personality. But Rawbone pointed out that some people mistakenly believe it applies to them. Instead, “the term applies to those who are equally charged by being quiet and reflective and by being stimulated by any noisy company.”

“As an extraverted introvert, I love being with certain people who I can have generative conversations with, and provided I’ve had the chance to precharge my batteries sufficiently. But there always comes a time when my mental & social battery runs out which is when I slip away, mostly unnoticed. My true friends know this about me and understand. If I were an ambivert, my battery wouldn’t deplete, no matter where I was, or who I was with,” Rawbone opened up about her experiences.

When asked about the myths and misunderstandings that revolve around being an introvert, the expert revealed there are simply too many. “I’ve been called boring, stuck up, arrogant, dull, lacking in confidence, lacking ambition, anti-social, a ‘low responder’ and much worse.”

“We mistakenly think of extraverts as outgoing social butterflies and introverts as tongue-tied loners, but with up to 50% of any population identifying as an introvert, it’s time to realize that it’s about how we’re wired, and our communication preferences.”

The great thing about memes and jokes that encapsulate what it means to be an introvert helps fight these misconceptions and allows people to feel less alone in this vast world. Although Rawbone noted that everything depends on their content. “I don’t like seeing memes that reinforce everything that introverts supposedly can’t do, or dislike. I love to see empowering memes,” she told us.

In her podcast, The Flourishing Introvert Talks, Rawbone talks about how we can all lift and support one another instead of holding each other back. “Recognizing a kindred introvert spirit is really helpful and reassuring.”

“I remember reading a post that said something like, ‘There’s comfort in knowing you’re a zebra, not a strange horse. You can’t find community with other zebras if you don’t know you belong. It’s impossible for a zebra to feel happy and healthy spending its life feeling like a failed horse!’ So it is with introverts, and this is why I’m intent on shifting this bias, especially under the auspices of the DEI agenda,” Rawbone concluded.

DNC Adviser Sparks Backlash After Making Joke About Lauren Boebert and OnlyFans

December 2, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

DCCC and DNC adviser Kurt Bardella made a joke about Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) and OnlyFans, but not everyone found it funny.

During an appearance on “The ReidOut,” Joe Reid asked Bardella, “What’s the meaning if Lauren Boebert, the second most popular QAnon congressperson in MAGA, what if she loses? What job will she have?”

Bardella replied, “I guess is it might be a gain for OnlyFans.”

Reid burst out laughing at the response.

He added, “I don’t know what she would do in this scenario.”

Watch the video below:

Democratic strategist Kurt Bardella on what Rep. Lauren Boebert (R) will do if she loses her tight race in Colorado:

After working in Republican politics for years, Bardella announced in 2017 he would be leaving the party.

Boebert is currently battling for reelection in a tight race with Democrat Adam Frisch.

Do you consider the comment “disgusting”?

Bardella received significant criticism from Twitter users.

One user called the comment “disgusting,” adding, “Suggesting that a US congresswoman join OnlyFans is misogynistic AF, even if that congresswoman is the absolute worst (and, to be clear, Lauren Boebert is ABSOLUTELY the worst). I’m genuinely disappointed that [Joy Ann Reid] laughed.”

Suggesting that a US congresswoman join OnlyFans is misogynistic AF, even if that congresswoman is the absolute worst (and, to be clear, Lauren Boebert is ABSOLUTELY the worst).

Another wrote, “There’s always that contingent of people who are thrilled to have the opportunity to use all the misogynistic/racist/fatphobic nonsense they’ve been repressing in order to look like good people in a manner they think can be seen as altruistic.”

One tweet questioned whether the joke would be made about “Louie Gohmert? Andy Biggs? Paul Gosar? Or is it only women who get told to do sex work as an insult? No matter what you think of Rep. Lauren Boebert, let’s not confuse misogyny with actual insight or humor. And on a show hosted by a woman, to boot.”

Would this be said about Louie Gohmert? Andy Biggs? Paul Gosar? Or is it only women who get told to do sex work as an insult? No matter what you think of Rep. Lauren Boebert, let’s not confuse misogyny with actual insight or humor. And on a show hosted by a woman, to boot. https://t.co/OAvStQNmgs

Read more reactions below:

This is disgusting. I don’t care who you’re talking about – this is garbage talk that kicks a bunch of other people in the face for no reason. https://t.co/zuqSYRWUwr

I can’t stand Lauren Boebert. I hope she loses and we never see her again, but insulting sex workers is really just a shit, lazy move. They are human beings. https://t.co/FO9TcBsCcL

One can think Boebert is a terrible member of Congress and simultaneously believe suggesting she go into pornography is terribly sexist. @KurtBardella should apologize. And why does @JoyAnnReid think this is a laugh riot? Terrible. https://t.co/2nX4UK0Dm3

Former Brietbart News guy says whatever he needs to say or leaks whatever Lincoln Project tells him to leak on Twitter to just barely keep his head above water and stay on Joy Reid, of all people, cable show. Imagine being this. https://t.co/ddnji9ngAW

I’m old enough to remember when this classy fellow had the descriptor “Breitbart News PR guy” attached to his professional carcass. https://t.co/qBruvdCGX7

In 2019, The New York Times explained OnlyFans is a site where “subscribers — mostly male; straight, gay and beyond — pay models and social media influencers a fee, generally $5 to $20 a month, to view a feed of imagery too racy for Instagram.”

The report continues, “With that access, subscribers can also direct message and ‘tip’ to get pictures or videos created on demand, according to their sexual tastes.”

Lewis Hall gives something to smile about as Chelsea beaten again by Manchester City | Evening Standard

December 2, 2022 by humorouz Leave a Comment

ewis Hall made his case for a more regular role in Graham Potter’s squad as Chelsea looked ready for their six-week World Cup break in defeat to Manchester City.

It was telling that an 18-year-old with only one appearance to his name was the Blues’ best performer away in the Carabao Cup third round.

Hall should have walked out of the Etihad Stadium with a goal to his name but for two fine saves by Stefan Ortega.

The first came after he was picked out by Christian Pulisic on the counter-attack, pulling off a feint to cut inside and a shot with his weaker right foot that was well saved by the City goalkeeper.

The second came after Hakim Ziyech rescued an overhit cross with a stunning pirouette to set Hall up. His first-time right-foot shot was again saved by City’s player of the match, Ortega.

It was unfortunate that Hall was not to end the match with a goal although he can be proud of his efforts.

The dribbling power raved about inside the academy was on full display on the highest stage, winning two free-kicks after fouls by the fellow 2004-born youngster Rico Lewis.

His distribution was excellent, barring one mistake that should have led to an Ilkay Gundogan goal.

Pep Guardiola had targeted both him and the out-of-form defender Marc Cucurella with their pressing traps but it was not particularly effective.

Eventually, Manchester City’s quality did tell and so did Chelsea’s lack of confidence. The first goal was a mistake by Chelsea’s wall, particularly Kalidou Koulibaly, to not jump for Riyad Mahrez’s 53rd-minute free-kick.

A basic counter-attack led to Julian Alvarez’s second just five minutes later where Chelsea looked too tired or lacked the desire to get back and defend in time.

Chelsea threw on the big guns like Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz which meant no debut for fellow youngster Omari Hutchinson. They threatened but it was too little too late as City comfortably held on.

There is no shame in losing to Man City but tonight will only serve as a boost for Newcastle ahead of a crucial Premier League match in the battle for the top four.

Chelsea have now lost three of their last four games and seem to be desperate to rest or have a change of scenery for the World Cup. The one main positive was Hall, who showed that he is here to stay and ready to make a name for himself.
