Viewers have joked that Huw Edwards ‘needs a holiday’ as he continues to lead the BBC‘s coverage of the Queen’s funeral. 

The presenter, 61, has anchored the BBC’s coverage since Queen Elizabeth II‘s death on Thursday 8 September. 

He is also presenting on BBC News this morning alongside Fergal Keane, also 61, throughout the Queen’s funeral at Westminster Abbey. 

Taking to Twitter, many social media users expressed their hopes that the presenter treats himself to a well-deserved break.

Taking to Twitter, many social media users expressed their hopes that the presenter treats himself to a well-deserved break

One user wrote: ‘@thehuwedwards you’ve done an amazing job since making the announcement of her majesty’s death. I hope the BBC allows you a well deserved holiday!’

Another added: ‘Huw Edwards deserves a 6 month holiday after today. How he’s managed to talk and interview people for 10 days straight about this I’ll never know.’

One joked: ‘Can someone give #huwedwards a pillow and blanket, followed by a long holiday, please?’

‘Can we all club together on GoFundMe and buy Huw Edwards a holiday once all this is done? The man’s been broadcasting seemlessly for 12 days solid now,’ another joked. 

‘Has anyone worked harder than these couple of weeks? Crazy pressure to be the person to say “this is the BBC from London” day of. Give this man a holiday,’ one Twitter use quipped.

Edwards has presented much of the BBC’s coverage since Queen Elizabeth II’s death was announced on 8 September.

The public service broadcaster had a total of 9.83million people tuned into BBC One at 6.30pm when the death of Queen Elizabeth II (pictured just two days before she died) was officially announced

Viewers have praised the presenter’s ‘amazing’ coverage, with one calling him ‘absolutely stupendous.’

‘Huw Edwards absolutely stupendous again today,’ they wrote. ‘He’s a b***dy amazing broadcaster. Completely on the ball, composed, pragmatic but sensitive.’

Another added: ‘All presenters, particularly on BBC have been tremendous, however, has been absolutely outstanding. 

‘Always the right tone, isn’t rude when he has to stops guests to go to live feeds, just amazing thank you.’

Viewers voiced their concerns fore Huw, with some suggesting he didn’t get much rest after covering the news of the Queen’s death this weekend 

‘What an extraordinary broadcaster is. He has an amazing ability to hold hours of live tv together with the informative and comprehensive professionalism that it deserves,’ one Twitter user said.      

Last week, BBC News viewers voiced concerns for Edwards’ health after the presenter was seen with a bloodshot right eye. 

The broadcaster sparked concern on social media while covering the procession that saw the late Monarch’s coffin being moved from Holyroodhouse Palace to St Giles Cathedral.

Viewers spotted the presenter’s blood-shot eye, saying they hoped he would get it treated and surmising he must be ‘shattered’.

Edwards was also the presenter who broke the news of the Queen’s death to the nation on Thursday 8 September.

Prince William, Kate and hilarious Charlotte at Commonwealth Games

Prince William and Kate Middleton were at the Commonwealth Games today, and to much surprise, were joined by their daughter, Princess Charlotte.

Charlotte was at the Games to watch the swimming, and royal fans were delighted – not least with all the faces she was pulling!

She certainly gave little brother Prince Louis a run for his money with her animated antics!

Today saw Prince William and Kate make an appearance at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The royal couple was in attendance to watch the swimming at Sandwell Aquatics Centre this morning.

However, in a pleasant surprise, they were joined by their daughter, Princess Charlotte.

The little princess wore a black and white striped dress and had her hair in pigtails.

The princess was very animated while watching the swimming today, pulling a number of funny faces during the races.

Charlotte was snapped sticking her tongue out, grimacing, and pouting at different points throughout the races, emulating her younger brother’s performance at the Jubilee in June.

At one point, the seven-year-old turned and gave her father a cheeky thumbs up too, drawing a laugh from her parents.

She was also seen engrossed in what appeared to be a programme for the day and shaking hands with officials at the Games.

And at one point she seemed a little disheartened, pulling a glum face and getting some soothing words from her doting dad.

Many a royal fan excitedly took to Twitter to discuss Charlotte’s surprise appearance today.

“Lovely to see Charlotte,” one fan wrote.

“She is just super adorable. Wish Prince Louis came also,” another then said.

Additionally, another tweeted saying: “Absolutely wonderful to see The Cambridges. A dotting dad, a proud wife, and a charming daughter.”

“It’s so good to see Princess Charlotte with her parents at The Commonwealth Games today!” another said.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also promoted their trip to the Commonwealth Games on Instagram today.

The royal couple uploaded two posts to their story for their 13.9 million followers to see earlier today.

In the first, the Cambridge’s wrote on a purple background: “Will see you soon, Birmingham!”

“Looking forward to an exciting day of sport at @birminghamcg2022,” they then said.

In the second post on their story, the Cambridge’s uploaded a picture of themselves and Charlotte meeting Perry, the Commonwealth Games’ mascot.

Below that was a picture of swimmers diving into the pool. “Hi Perry,” they captioned the post.

Charlotte’s trip to watch the games comes just days after she and William sent the Lionesses‘ a video message prior to their Euro 2022 final.

James Bond writer recalls Queen’s ‘funny’ helicopter request for Olympic skit – Mirror Online

The Queen left Balmoral for the last time this morning as the first stage of her final journey begins. The longest reigning monarch’s coffin is travelling by hearse from Aberdeenshire to Edinburgh on a slow six-hour route, where the grieving public are lining the streets to pay their respects. Among those in her funeral cortege is the Queen’ s only daughter, Princess Anne, who is expected to travel with her mother onwards to London.

In the three days since the Queen’s passing at Balmoral on Thursday afternoon, people from across the world have been sharing tributes to the beloved monarch, who touched the lives of so many. Among the many wonderful memories, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, the writer behind the Queen’s incredible James Bond skit from the 2012 opening ceremony of the Olympics, has shared his own interesting tale.

Boyce has often spoken about the brilliant moment when the Queen volunteered herself to be part of the Bond special – rejecting the idea of a stand-in actor doing the job and even writing her own lines.

The original plan was to get a Queen lookalike to play a part in the sketch, so Boyce’s team asked someone to go and take photos of the clothing that the late monarch would be wearing for the Olympics ceremony – for continuity.

Instead, the Queen’s dresser insisted that Her Majesty would want to take part in the sketch herself, and when asked, she was reportedly amused and very keen for the role.

Today on BBC 5 Live radio, Boyce revealed yet another element of the script that the Queen had a hand in, as she wanted to help choose the helicopter that she would ‘jump out’ of.

Opening up about the special moment for the first time, Boyce said: “We took the storyboards in to show her and she had comments to make about what kind of helicopter should be used”.

Owing to the Queen’s extensive military knowledge, Boyce added that “she knew what kind of helicopters could feasibly fly under the Tower Bridge, which is really funny”.

The writer continued to explain that he hadn’t written lines for the Queen, insisting that she carved her own part on the day.

“I didn’t give her a line, partly because I didn’t know how to type ‘the Queen says'”, he explained.

“On the day she asked for a line, she said to Danny [Boyle] “I think I should have a line’ so she built her own part – she really wanted to do it”.

According to the production manager on set, the Queen kept her part hidden from her family until the big day.

Earlier this year, Sam Hunter said: “The Queen never told her family she was doing it. That was one of the stipulations when she agreed to be part of it.”

Alongside the notorious Bond skit, Boyce also wrote the Paddington film which saw the Queen share a magical moment with the much-loved fictional bear.

Cedric the Entertainer Blasts Herschel Walker in New Ad, ‘We Don’t Need to Add No More Crazy to That Mix’

Cedric the Entertainer has always been so entertaining because he has a sharp observational eye. Comedians rarely get credit for it, but there are no dumb successful comedians. One has to understand people at a fundamental level to get both what is happening “out there” and how it impacts people “in here.” Think of Richard Pryor, Chris Rock, George Carlin, and many others. Brilliant.

Cedric the Entertainer, is on that list. Look at the name. It’s genius marketing! Cedric has some things to say about Herschel Walker and Walker’s bid for the U.S. Senate. It is a given that a black man has more freedom to call out a black man as not qualified, and Cedric uses it brilliantly. We will get out of the way.

“We got big election stuff coming up right now. I need everybody to get involved,” Cedric says in the spot. “We got to stop; we got to fight against the ignorance that’s going on out there, especially in the state of Georgia. Lord, you know they said life is like a box of chocolates? Well, Hershey’s Walker is one of these chocolates that you don’t want. You know the ones where you get a box of chocolates and you, like, [gagging]? That’s him. I mean, the man is ridiculous, dog.”

Walker has said some of the most ridiculous things in this election season, “these judges with no cash bails…”

“I mean, some of the stuff he is saying — we just got to be very concerned about the educational system, one. Two: We already got senators that’s, like, you know, Marjorie Taylor, that’s crazier than a mug. We don’t need to add no more crazy to that mix, you hear me? Especially not this, not with the haircut and the extra muscles. I think he on creatine. I think he still from back in the day when they was shooting stuff up and trying to put in their muscles. Something going on where it turned off a switch.”

No comment on Walker’s health. We will note that Congress doesn’t need more crazy from the MAGA right.

“I mean, the man talking about ‘If humans are from apes, why do we still got apes?’ What, Herschel Walker? Come on, man. ‘You know, our bad air floated over to China and mixed with they good air and turned in — it was a recycling air situation.’ What, bruh? I don’t know what this man talking about! Guys, we got to defeat him, got to beat him — we got to stop him! Y’all know what it is. Let’s go! Let’s get involved.

Calling out a fundamental creationist argument that is beyond stupid. “If we came from apes, why are there still apes!” Branches, people, branches. It is like an ape saying, “If we came from the same thing as humans, why are there still humans!”

Humor as political commentary. It has been there from the beginning. Indeed it needs to be there, or it’s not funny. Cedric is up there and just proved why.
