One of the early jokes introduced in WandaVision has now been turned into a clue by fans looking forward to the first Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer.
A fan pointed out how the Aug. 23 date on Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s calendar in WandaVision could possibly signify the release date for the Spider-Man trailer. A screenshot of the WandaVision calendar shows a heart sketched in on Wednesday, Aug. 23, though viewers will remember that neither Wanda nor Vision could remember at the time why that date was significant in their relationship.
When Vision asked if there was any importance to the day, the couple is left to ponder many different possibilities. Vision points out that he is incapable of forgetting anything, while Wanda reveals how she’s been looking forward to the day — though without giving any details herself. Another theory relating to the 8.23 date ties back to Avengers #238, which was an issue featuring Vision and Monica Rambeau, who also made her reintroduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a grown-up portrayed by Teyonah Parris. Akira Akbar played a young Monica in 2019’s Captain Marvel.
However, things appeared to escalate when an alleged trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home was recently leaked online. Even though the footage that appeared on social media included unfinished special effects and unedited scenes, Sony and Marvel Studios moved quickly to have the video blocked, with many accounts displaying takedown notices in its place.
Whenever the trailer is finally released, it will more than likely feature co-star Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, possibly tying into the growing multiverse with the confirmed return of Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius, and the rumored returns of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, among others.
